You may be very right about that, will give that a go next time I die. It is not so much that I am attached to my gear but about wanting "my game" and feeling others are forcing "their game" on me. BTW, had my first experiences on a busy experimental server and was able to team up with some other bambi's, that was more like I would want it to work.

What I understood the engine will just keep producing the same landscape over and over in a loop, so you'd never reach the end nor would you really be covering any distance.

Hi all, I'm from The Netherlands and have been playing DAYZ SA for about a week now with no prior experience in ARMA. Enjoying the mod very much even if I died a few times at the hands of more experienced players. But just now I lost a caracter I had kept alive for 4 days. I had great gear and weapons and kept alive mostly by avoiding other players. Because there was not really much more to do gear wise I decided to go to the East coast to help out new spawns with food, drink and protection - even though I'm still a noob in this game. I feel more attracted to a 'hero' role than being a bandit. But...with the very first spawner I tried to help I almost immediately got shot in the back (not his fault, he was shocked too). Since it's not the first time I got shot on sight I feel an urge to become a bandit myself and shoot first and ask questions later, but I don't really want to because a more helpful playstyle is more interesting I think. If I just want to shoot everybody I would play a different game. Anyhow, I should probably find a group or some buddies to play the game with, turns out it's a bad idea to be a hero when you are alone, I need someone to cover my back. I'm very pleased the developers want to focus more on the survival aspect of the game and can't wait for them to be implemented. Would be cool if you could live in the woods drinking the water from ponds (after cooking) and hunting / gathering for your food. Only to go to towns for human interaction once you get lonely :) I hope the friendly players will be more prevalent in this game, so far it seems to be about 50-50%

Servers are usually up around 10 GMT...in my limited experience anyway.

Yes I do enjoy looting but I would also like to have some cool experiences with other players and there are not many to be had if you're playing alone and not in a group. Getting killed is already much less frustrating then in the beginning :)

It's almost impossible to stay alive in this game without KOS...today again I got killed for no good reason, just the other players' fear and cowardness. I was with ONE other player in a server and I was looting Balota AF. Suddenly another player enters the room (what are the odds with 2 players) and he didn't even see me and had his back towards me. I open the speak channel and tell him "hey man I'm behind you with no weapon out so don't shoot me please". He turns around and kills me with one shot. What am I supposed to do but shoot another player in the back as soon as I see him/her? So far in this game I met one friendly armed player, all others just want to kill on sight... Ah well, end of rant, nothing we can do at this stage. Just had to get rid of this energy. For now I will keep trying to be a friendly player.

So where is this? I can't find Kamoshovo or komosovo but I do see kamyshovo at the SE coast, this where the tent is at?

No I get between 20-50 fps, with rendering settings between low and normal, post processing and such are disabled.Game is playable for me, also in cities. I am assuming my rig will be able to run the retail version fine, but I expect to have upgraded my system by then to SSD, new mobo, new CPU, faster and more RAM, new GPU.

I don't really have a tip other than the ones you already gave but I doubt the Z's react to sounds, I have been literally sprinting toward them when they had their back to me, stopped at 1 meter, got my axe out and smashed their heads in, only rarely will they detect me and turn around.

You don't have to be indoors to shelter from the rain, a tree keeps you dry too.

Thx for the tip, I also happen to have a GTX650 Ti (boost) but changing the setting didn't do much. What did help a little was slightly overclocking my videocard and CPU. I use a mix of low and normal settings and get about 45 fps in fields, 35-40 in forest and 20-25 in towns and cities. Not great but playable and still having a little eye candy @1920x1080.

I see you videocard driver is from 2010? I would get the latest driver for your card, this may help too.

Nah just hoping against better judgement I'm wrong, turns out superstition doesn't help you survive any better than without it...which I guess I already knew.

I once picked up a Bible thinking it may give some karma protection, and was shot in the back of my head within 30 minutes...must be bad karma since I'm an atheist...

When I suggested spawn protection I wasn't only thinking about it as a solution to a bug that will most likely be solved. It can also protect against other players when there is network latency and think about a rebirth spawn where YOU don't decide where to spawn but there may still be a zombie or a spawn killer.

Maybe they should also implement spawn protection like in some other games?
