Well maybe but as I said I was hydrated but in dark green and not light green status. Still after 11 sodas not fully hydrated. Funny thing is I drank until stuffed (and light green hydrated) from a pond before on a different server, logged off almost immediately and about 20 mins later joined again. I believe you lose some hydration when logging on again mimicking time gone by but I still think it is weird.

I do carry those but always save them till last. Refilling with rain is nice (if it rains) but with 1% water per command it will take me 100 commands to fill it up. I will only do that in an emergency, like having broken legs, otherwise I will simply find a pond or well. Anyhow, it's not the point of this topic. It's about how sodas don't hydrate you in a realistic way, not about ways to stay hydrated in the game.
-
Hmm, I did a quick search and it seems there a lot of opinions and myths about sodas not hydrating your body. I also found this link and for me this seems only logical: http://exerciseandnutritionworks.com/2012/01/do-coffee-tea-and-soda-hydrate-or-dehydrate/ But I guess more importantly the sodas in the game are there to hydrate you (well that's what I assume) but seem to do so in a very unrealistic way. I'd rather find way less soda cans that will hydrate you than many cans that hardly hydrate you.
-
I'm no doctor either but sodas consist mostly of water, sugar won't somehow block your cells to absorb water all of a sudden (I think).
-
You do realize devs try to approach realism as much as possible right? It's only feedback to the devs, it's why we play the game in alpha stage, you do realize that right?
-
That's what I normally do but in this case I was camping on a cliff observing Svetlo for bandits through my binos. No water in the area so I used my sodas.
-
Well I'm assuming the hydrated status says something about the state of your body, not how you feel. After 3.5 litres of liquid I think my body would be well hydrated.
-
I didn't know this so thanks for sharing! Have my beans.
-
Bows will be useful in hunting so you don't have to announce to your surroundings you are there...
-
I think the binos can spawn anywhere loot spawns, found in many different places so far.

This reminds me of I am legend. Of course, it takes a good many years before a tree grows that big.

Bumping this thread because today I thought the same thing. Yes doors should make noise, only logical, after a few years without maintenance hinges and locks would squeak en wooden doors could be stuck in the frame and so on. But: maybe there could be an option to open a door very careful and slow to reduce the noise it makes but still make some noise that could be heard by someone in the building but less in the surroundings.

I try not to KOS at all unless I feel threatened by someone with a pistol or primary weapon. If a player only has a melee weapon I will usually just run away or offer help, if he keeps following me I will shoot after a warning.
-
I voted yes, the more realism the better. They should also include pissing and maybe getting dizzy with headaches when you don't look after yourself because of dehydration or infections. Getting wounded but surviving should have consequences for a longer period of time (several hours or so), not that you can't play the game but it should give you a disadvantage so you feel you need to lay low for a while and avoid skirmishes (or have to rely on friends to take care of you!).

Alright, I am finally concerned about the standalone
nl replied to JimmyGate's topic in General Discussion
I have been pc gaming for about 25 years and I don't think I ever played a game that didn't have bugs, good or bad I simply got used to this fact and unless it is really game breaking in a major way I can live with it if the game itself is good. -
What worked for me in the past is to walk (or sprint) up to a wall and go prone, I seemed to "fall" through the wall and was able to crawl out.

(for new people...because you can't see over your shoulder with them on)
-
There are actually some zombies spawning there now since 044, leisurely looting days are over :)

Check this post for more easter eggs, but...maybe you should not and save them for future surprises... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/183433-easter-eggs-in-dayz-standalone-video-suggestions/

Anyone experiencing that soda's can be drunk many times without them getting empty? I drank one can at least 10 times and actually got hydrated and then stuffed without the can disappearing or getting empty. Also, I can't see tuna cans in my pack. Edit: made a bug report.
-
Hmmm, lost my character again (usually after a patch), spawned at the coast north of Svetlo (new location for me) but servers started restarting already after about 10 mins... Edit: after several server reloads I had my original character back, I guess I was a little to fast joining the servers and should have waited for the "servers are up" message...

My steam is updating as we speak! 374.1 MB

Maintenance usually ends around 10:00 AM GMT, so shouldn't be long any more.

Maybe I'm wrong but what are the chances they will update stable with stuff that hasn't been tested yet on experimental? In the last exp. patch there was no AKM, no fireplaces and so on so I'd say there is a bout 0 chance you will now suddenly seem them on stable?
