    My new DayZ intro..

TBH I don't like your intro much.Main reason is that there is no reference whatsoever to the game, atmosphere or theme, except for the name.

Bloody screen when you take damage

An alternative to greyscale and "bloody screen" could be a form of tunnel vision, where you keep seeing colours and in focus but peripheral vision is reduced.

    Clock Towers

Well if we go back to realism and we assume we are talking about a mechanical watch: even a very high end watch (like Rolex or Omega) would most likely deviate between 1-5 seconds a day in pristine condition. A mechanical watch can never be as accurate as quartz. Most likely in Chernarus we are talking about Russian made watches like the brand Vostok at low or medium quality, for me even a pristine watch should deviate and when damaged deviation should be considerable.

    Clock Towers

For me, yes. I like how you'd be forced to risk getting to a populated area (or use binos from a distance). The watch could even be randomly deviating from the right time so you'd have to periodically check if it's still on time, or synchronize your watch with another player who just adjusted it. ("Hey mister: you know the time?") BUT: time seems to be a relatively unimportant factor in the game, judging by the sun you should be able to roughly tell what time it is or how much daylight is left. You could synchronize an attack or other activity with your team members with it but you don't need an in-game timepiece for that. Other than using the watch or as a compass I don't see an important need for it. (maybe for cooking but most time critical stuff can be measured outside the game --> unless time is compressed which would make that harder. Maybe others have more ideas about how time can be an important factor in the game. In another thread someone suggested seasons which I also like, if the watch also has a month and date it gets more interesting, especially in relation to sowing and harvesting if that makes it into the game. A package of seeds could say in which month it needs to be sown and harvested.

    Left Mouse Button

Are you sure you can't unbind LMB? It took me some fiddling but was able to unbind RMB to stop the zoom function (I use RMB for walk forward)

    Clock Towers

Mechanical clocks need winding too, they won't just keep magically ticking. Most likely they will use counter weights that need to be hoisted every now and then. But I like the idea of first having to find a bell tower to set your own watch to the right time.

The football field requires a football

American Rugby seems the most accurate description...

    The heck?

    yes
  9. Again I think the focus is too much on weapons. I would not mind if we just had a handful of varieties and very little ammo to be found. A long range bolt rifle, a semi-auto rifle, some pistols and revolvers, a hunting shotgun and a .22 hunting rifle and a (cross-) bow should (could) cover all needed functions in the game. (Powerful) Scopes should be very rare. IMO the guns are tools for survival, not a main goal in themselves. I couldn't care less about an engraved 1911 or all the attachments for the M4. My wish for this game is to go for realism and survival mechanics, NOT massive shoot-outs.
  10. I'd much rather see some of the guns less known by the general public than the weapons we all know very well from ANY OTHER game with weapons in it.

    Two million units sold

Screw it, I'm not gonna even read all the whining about the development pace, it's always the same anyway. Congrats @ the devs, no matter which way you look at it, it's quite an achievement.

    Optical Flares

I don't agree except for the scope. And I never saw lens glare (like in the game or movies) when wearing sunglasses.
  13. nl

    Optical Flares

Lens flare should be removed. It's a cheap effect that has been done by everybody already 10 years ago and it makes no sense, I don't need to feel like I'm in a movie. Of course getting blinded when looking into the sun is fine! Not sure what you mean with "optical flares", you mean scopes glinting?

    What do now?

Haha, I remember exactly the moment I was where you are now. I did decide to play a hero and I died within 5 minutes being shot in the back :) Slowly you learn to love gearing up and losing it all once you get bored and start taking too many risks.

    Improvised Rifle Scope

In a way that's true, but you just said that your setup would only last for a few shots, suggesting it would deviate fast, good luck with hitting your (moving) target. Of course in a game they could make it a stable setup for 10 shots but it is so far from reality that I really don't like your idea. I am all for creative ideas and suggestions for the developers but let's stay as close to reality as possible (well that's my wish anyway).

    Improvised Rifle Scope

I'm sorry, you really make no sense at all.

    Improvised Rifle Scope

Okay I apologize for calling you a troll, maybe it was uncalled for. But I still think it's a very unrealistic idea. What use is a scope if you don't intend to have it zeroed? You'd be better of spotting your target with your un-hacksawed bino and aiming your iron sights in the general direction.
  18. nl

    Improvised Rifle Scope

Are you serious? You really think you could make a bino work as a scope, keeping it zeroed with ducttape...well if I ever encounter a sniper I hope it's you with your binoducttapelongrangescope. I know this is just a game but this is so far deviating from reality I wonder if you are trolling.
  19. Why would you need matches and cooking gear at this stage of the game? Obvioulsy if you turn the courierbag into an improvised backpack you will have more space and still look less 'military'.

    Some cool outfit

True but wool also retains it's insulation properties when wet as opposed to virtually all other fabrics, just saying ;) Wool is a much better survival fabric than cotton or nylon.

    Some cool outfit

Like I said in the other thread, it would only be logical if there was women clothing, let he player decide what to wear. No reason why a full length wool dress wouldn't be a good protection against the environment. And I for one would think it's hilarious to see a new spawn man character run around in a dress because it was all he could find once the weather system had been implemented.

Stop With the "This is Russia BS"

This is a Russian Farming Community, they wont have the kind of weapons you mention.
  23. 2 things to keep in mind: -there a regular and hardcore servers, on both you have a different character, possibly you switched? -when a server restarts don't try to join too fast again, give it a few minutes, this tactic seems to have solved my character wipes, but maybe I've been lucky the last 2 weeks.
  24. That's a bit weird, I am hydrated (and fully energized / healthy) but not to the fullest level and I drink 11 cans of soda and am still not fully hydrated...that is over 3.5 liters of moisture, more than what an active grown man in a moderate climate would need to drink in an entire day...
  25. yeah maybe you are right.
