I'm guessing this is WNW off Novodmitrovsk.

So I'm suggesting there is a Mosin Nagant Carbine version in the game, possibly craft it with a hack saw like the sawed off shotgun? Obviously the benefit would be to have less weapon sway at the expense of a little less long range accuracy. But maybe you feel the cr527 already fills this niche?

What is the rarest item you have ever found in DayZ?

Minimum Viable Gear - All you need in as few slots as possible

The ashwood treelooks like this: and, among other places, can be found along this road: -
Yes, burlap will still make a courier bag. I find rope at the places you mention but mostly in garage boxes which, unfortunately, are usually found in bigger towns. I once suggested in the suggestions topic that we should be able to craft cordage from rags and other sources like bark. Rope indeed is scarce these days. I usually first try to find rope before I attempt to make an improvised backpack because sticks are easy and burlap sacks seem to be easy to find too and you will usually find a knife or machete somewhere., Boars are easy if you know the areas they are common.
-
No I don't think so, actually I think the mountainpack is 6x5 and the leather improvised 5x5 and improvised with burlap sack is 4x5 (but I'd have to check to be sure). BTW, you can use any knife to skin a boar, like kitchen knife and machete and IIRC even a bayonet.
-
I think atm you only find them at military installations. But I prefer the crafted leather improvised backpack, only 4 slots less than the mountain pack and much thinner profile. (you need: sticks, rope, boar skin).
-
I understand but the difference would be that if you can't find the CR527 and have the mosin you can give it another character, just like the sawed off shotgun.

I've heard the random noises also in the North where there are no zombies so it doesn't seem spawn related. And yes, it seems related to other players, hardly ever hear the noises in low pop servers. My theory is that the noises are made by other players but get (partially) directed to the wrong client.
-
I hope one day we will spawn with a (analog) watch on our wrists, that can help you determine south and help you keep track of server time (sunset, sunrise, cooking time and so on). http://www.wikihow.com/Use-an-Analog-Watch-as-a-Compass

I know the problem mate, when you finally find a fnx mag, and later the next and the next you tend to want to keep them since they are generally hard to find. In the end though I keep a max of 3 fnx mags, and 3 akm mags (30 round) and 1 ammo box with 80 45 acp and the rest 7.62. I mean you can find that ammo not exclusive to military locations, as long as you have the mags to begin with..
-
Making your presence known in that way was just not smart in that location, as said in military locations you will most likely be shot on sight. BTW, I hope you do realise that having that much ammo / mags for your weapons is just a waste of inventory space. You will NEVER need that many rounds in a fire fight, unless you plan on camping for another 50 hours. You will either die or have killed your opponent.

Those little known and well known tourist spots..the nine raging boners of the apoc

Sure, no problem  -
Why not wait with this survey until the game is actually more developed. Some changes in the game may change the opinion of players what kind of server suits them best.

Nice, good to have one place where all "special" things in the map is archived. I miss the the bus accident a little SW of Krutoy Cap and Bad Santa in the industrial zone in Cherno. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/188817-a-touristic-day-in-chernarus/?hl=%2Btouristic+%2Bday -
bad version server rejected connection
nl replied to yeahwhatever123's topic in New Player Discussion
You are unlucky because at the moment the servers are down for maintenance (every wednesday) so nobody can connect. Wait another 2-3 hours or so and try again. Steam will download any updates you need if you have set it to "automatic updates". -
How do i tell a glitched weapon and how did it happen?
nl replied to Acher0n's topic in General Discussion
All I can tell you is there is no description for the AKM when you inspect it, mine also only shows "...", not sure why you couldn't aim, maybe because of the missing stock? Doesn't sound like a hacker to me, so start to feel bad ;) -
Not sure if its against the rules, so please go easy. Are there any "Loadout" Servers?
nl replied to wmike20052's topic in General Discussion
Maybe try a low population server? -
Also keep in mind that right now on experimental weapon sway was enhanced, I found it very hard to hit a standing zombie with an AKM at more than 300 meters with the scope, even while prone, bipod unfolded, calm breathing and holding my breath and taking single shots. So if they don't change current weapon sway and push it to stable all automatic weapons will be pretty much useless at more than 300 meters, let alone if your target is moving.

Anyone Interested In a Meet & Greet? (July 13, Sun.) [Clip inside]
nl replied to blunce's topic in General Discussion
If I'm correct I met him outside of the firestation but he killed another and was also killed himself. I heard accusations of duping by him, not sure though. Soon after I left the session to watch the world cup soccer final (and still am watching). -

For me it was a dissapointing meet, but maybe I expected the wrong thing. I didn't see any trading, no quiz, no general talk. In the end the group went to NWAF (why again?) where it turned in to a simple pvp session against outside players. Actually it was the same experience as with other games and big groups - it never really works out as intended. Anyhow, thanks for the initiative blunce and I hope one day we still get to play Irish's quiz and maybe get to trading / giving away stuff. Cheers guys :beans: -
See above me, that's how it should work. However, I prefer to just carry matches and an axe and rags you will have anyway if you are smart. With those you can build a fire almost anywhere and cook your meat. This setup is much more space efficient. Fires are hardly visible in daytime (smoke is negligible) and at night the light carries about 300 meters / yards or so. So as long as you keep in deep woods away from roads you should be fine.

Thanks for sharing. Since I never played the mod I have no special feelings for the Makarov and it leaves me wondering: unless it would take up less slots compared to the CR75, P1, 1911, Magnum, Amphibian or FNX (since .380 has a smaller form factor) I don't really see a good reason why I would want to use this gun unless there's nothing else to be found or mags can be found easily for it in civilian houses. As becomes clear in the video the stopping power of .380 leaves something to be desired where a .45 or .357 needs one bullet.

Since I will be a bit later than the official start I hope there will still be a slot left on the server for me. I assume the security is not included in this list? -
Still it's kinda funny and strange, I never once died on any ladder after 400+ hours in the SA. I did have deaths due to rubberbanding or session lost but never when simply climbing or descending a ladder.
