No, I was the one who drove the truck there, stopped it, got out and "you are dead". The possibility of it being done by another player is very slim, only about 4 players in the server and I was in the middle of nowhere testing how good the truck would do between trees and going uphill (not good...)
-
I did relog but the gun was nowhere to be found anymore. If it happens again I will try to eat a can of food. Anyway my grieve didn't last long because a few moments later I died when I stepped out of a truck...It was standing still, in a forest, no other players around. Not sure what happened. So I would have lost that gun anyway :)

truck = player ignoring OPSEC = asking for confrontation
-
Yeah I had a similar experience today. 2 Zeds were chasing me, I had about 25 meters on them, drew my 9mm and they stopped about 5 meters in front of me and ignored me totally. I didn't waste ammo and just took off.
-
I think it should stay as is. Half the fun of Dayz is the choices you have to make gear wise. Bitter sweet frustration when you just ditched ammo for that gun you wanted but couldn't find and finding it soon after :)

I noticed that when you are driving a truck you are cooling down rapidly, even to the point of hypothermia. This seems odd because it is an enclosed (small cabin) environment, the windows are not broken. Even if there would not be a heater you would not cool down as fast. I was driving around about half the island but had to stop midway to make a fire to heat up again because I started "shaking violently". Maybe there could be an option of turning the heater on, at the expense of some fuel maybe? BTW I haven't been able to test refueling yet in the game. If you approach the tank with a jerry can you will get the option to refuel? Is this the only way to refuel in the game at this moment?

You didn't quote the most important part of my idea: "...just free thinking here".

My personal opinion: I wouldn't mind if the zombies stay at this level or even disappear altogether. I play DAYZ SA for the survival element, not for the "horror" element. The zombie theme has had it's day and has gotten a bit old. I would have liked it if (not gonna happen) the developers had found a different angle for DAYZ SA. Maybe that if you spawn you are either infected by a virus or not. The infected must find certain medicine to keep alive, the non infected must find medicine to not get infected / stay immune from an air bound virus. Maybe there could be a reward system that if a non-infected kills an infected he gets an up in certain skills, like shooting, or running (stamina) or maybe being faster in certain tasks. Same could go for the infected. There would have to be perks for both sides so it's interesting to play either side. Both parties would have to find allies to survive the other side. There would have to be a way players can recognize another player whether they are infected or not but not too obvious so players would have to approach each other to find out. The infected could maybe have a certain way of breathing only audible from close by. Killing a player from your own side should have major repercussions. Well, just free thinking here :)

I had same problem as in OP (in.57), a few times fps dropping to 4 fps, sometimes it would solve itself after a while, sometimes I had to relog. I also use the maxmem parameter and will lower it to try.
-
Also check out if changing the launch options will help you. Check below vid for instructions: Mine are: (CPU specific!): -high -CPUCount=4 -ExThreads=3 -maxMem=8192 -NoSplash -NoPause -malloc=system Your system should have higher fps like you said, atm you have about my FPS but my system is much weaker. I generally get: 60 fps in open fields, 35-45 fps in wooded areas, 25-35 around towns, 17-25 in big cities.

Check this post: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/224710-performance-issues/ Improved my fps. Some settings in the profile texts I kept a little higher than is suggested to keep some eye candy.

Hi all, I've been away from the game for about 7 months. I recently purchased a SSD harddisc and wondered if running Dayz on it would make a difference so I installed Days again and started playing. The SSD is faster in loading textures but overall performance in the sense of FPS is still the same. To be honest I would have expected the game to have progressed more than it seems to have in those past months. FPS performance is still very poor in towns and cities, same as before really. There still has been no optimization? Nice to see many items added but I hoped the overall performance would have improved. I have some questions I hope someone is willing to answer: -I see no experimental servers listed, are they down at the moment? -There are no more 1st person only servers? So only one caracter on stable and one on exp.? -Very few animals, in a few hours play I only saw one cow. I'm looking for a boar but none was to be found in the usual places I could find them. -no more batteries anywhere? -no more hunter backpacks? -there are way less zombies now and their "detection zone" seems to have gotten much smaller, is this correct?
-
Thanks for your answer. Strange, I only see servers listed with 1st/3rd person. I have no filters applied except <100ms
-
Well I thought that if the disc would be faster the CPU would need less resources to access it thus freeing more resources for other parts of the game, CPU being the bottleneck. Maybe it was dumb reasoning.
-
go to video settings - rendering - turn off "ambient occlusion" and maybe post process quality (forgot exactly which one it was), this will probably fix it.
-
IMO it looks just as stupid as the gun floating there :)
-
Since DAYZ SA is CPU heavy it is not so strange that you have the same FPS with the new video card since the CPU is still the same.
-
If I see a forum name on a server I WILL KOS anyone I meet, just because I'd like to see a rage post on this forum because of me...

Next time you fight a zombie, keep your "dot" on the head when you strike. If you need 60 strikes for 2 hits it's you who's doing something wrong. My tactic, let them stand in front of you, strike, move sideways as they start their hitting animation and repeat until defeat.

to whoever I killed at NWAF, thanks for the perfect m4

So basically you shot him in the back. -
I do not like the new animation for reasons others already mentioned, it just doesn't look natural. Also the head bob (when in 3rd) looks very strange and somewhat humoristic. If in 1st person you also see way less over your shoulders / behind.

I have been shot through the window of a military sleeping barrack. But it was a few builds ago so don't know if it;s still the same.

It should still warm you up just before you die of the smoke :) To be real, in certain circumstances it should not be a problem, there are actually houses in the game with a fire place, we should be able to use them. (yes yes, the chimney won't have been cleaned for possibly some years and could be blocked by a birds nest) :P Also, fires were lit in houses for thousands of years. As long as you have a non flammable (non heat affected) area and a proper way to dissipate the smoke trough let's say an open window it could be ok.
