PC no longer good enough to run Dayz. What upgrades could I buy to play again?
nl replied to nufc1985's topic in General Discussion
You need at least a directx 11 video card, which your Radeon is not. Your CPU should be fine (I run a 2.6 Ghz quad core) but maybe you could overclock it. Oh and if possible get your hands on windows 7 somehow, install it and use until 2020 or profit from the free windows 10 upgrade before the end of july. -
I wonder if these issues are related to server settings. I generally do not have these problems but the last two days there was one server (NL 2-15) which was unplayable, Constant rubberbanding (actually impossible to get away from starting position, unable to move stuff in inventory or to the ground etc.)
-
maybe it has something to do with scaling options of your video card.

Grease pencils can also be used as an emergency candle ;)

1280 x 1024 is a 4:3 resolution, are you using a widescreen?

Well, imo it would only make sense if there was already a narrative in the first part (your voice as voice over maybe?) and then the 250 days later, already having heard your voice it would make it more logical. Doesn't take away from the fact that there still will be a style break between the first and second section. Mostly I guess because in the 1st section we watch "you" from a 3rd person perspective and later switch to you watching things through your eyes. It's not consistent.

I think the start was very strong and I liked how you told the story without narrative. The switch to playing with your friend and the talking completely ruined the atmosphere for me. Too much of a style break. Good job on the start though, if you could finish from there, explaining the infected and your survivor gradually going from mere surviving to being a infected slayer or hero helping / saving others would be a more interesting product. Just my opinion of course.

Don't wait for W10 because the errors will most likely remain the same. First verify integrity of game cache --> steam --> dayz --> properties, if that don't help I would uninstall the game, uninstall GPU driver, re-install or verify Direct x. Then reinstall latest GPU driver and reinstall DAYZ.

Nice! Side question also related to graphics. Are the issues with shadowplay acknowledged and on the list for fixing? Would be helpful in recording bugs! https://feedback.bistudio.com/T117992

The price for this months 'Impossible-To-Find Item' will go to...

I saw a herd of deer in NWAF trapped between fences on either side and stampeding from one end to the other constantly ;) But aside from chickens they are the only animals I have seen. -

I found plenty of burlap sacks in 0.60...but have to admit that after a few days I don't see many, they don't seem to regenerate / respawn eg are finite. -
Well, he says something about that in the first minutes of the video doesn't he? He says he has been using it for over a year, never got banned and even asked a dev about it...

Let us know when you tested this!

Instantly became hyperthermic and I can't cool off..?

Go to bug tracker and give them server name and IP, seems to have to do with some server configurations, read: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1soqm6f -
No problem with rain for me either, and I run older hardware: Cpu: i5 750 CPU: GTX 650 Ti Boost 8 GB RAM (game on SSD)

Well if you are playing now the only available servers are exp due to wednesday maintenance, so check if you are not actually playing on exp (even if it is other version than stable atm) Edit: I just checked and my old character from before the push to stable is also still alive in exp.
-
Nice! Looking forward to 0.61 exp.

Deliverance! Great movie, a must see for everyone!

I also don't expect DAYZ SA getting gold in 2016, I didn't think that in 2015...I think it will at least take another 12 months, or at least am prepared for that. I'm not sweating it as long as the game gets really finished.
-
@JudoCobra I actually also think this game simply isn't for you, you don't really like it for what it is or is becoming.
-
Yeah been that way since experimental, really sucks. not sure what causes it but I hope they fix it fast. Does not seem to be a shadowplay issue because when .60 was still in exp I switched back to .59 and it recorded fine. Also dark recordings in earlier shadowplay versions so I guess it is somehow related to the renderer.
-
Well I guess they changed where they can spawn, I also found 2 M4's (and various attachables) and a Steyr at NWAF. Also ammo and mags. Many USMC jackets and pants so I guess the devs decided the US army (or NATO) was present on the airfield at one time.

Being able to climb trees has been discussed before and dismissed with arguments like "in a survival situation you don't climb trees, too much risk of hurting yourself". But today I was wandering through the forest and was wondering about the upcoming predatory animals. I don't know about you but when I play the game I do so for usually a longer period of time. So while playing I go to the bathroom, get something to drink, smoke a cigarette or whatever. I park my character somewhere in a tree or bush and may be afk for a few minutes. With predators coming this may kill you so being able to climb a tree may keep you safe from predators. Maybe you would only be able to use a pistol once in the tree (one hand).

So you gave feedback in early stages of development but when the game was actually developed more towards it's final form you withheld your 'advice'. And now you have all kinds of criticisms about what the game has or has not become and putting blame for it on the community which you were not part of yourself for most of the development period. I just think that is interesting. And thank you for teaching me about 'tu quoque', never heard of that one before. But yeah, I do see some hints of hypocrisy. But I also see some valid points in your opening post and I should have mentioned that before.

lol said the person who did not play for a year and a half thus not providing the developers with feedback himself, so you are actually part of the problem you describe
