Developing strategies to not die because of the environment and avoiding hostile players is the most fun part of this game. If you ask someone to give you a crash course in how to play you deny yourself this fun, imo. After you know how to survive not much more is left to do except PVP and there are better games for that. -
Well, you are pretending to be a survivor in a pretended Russian country pretending to be able to run for miles and miles without resting. You are pretending to be alive during a pretended outbreak of some pretended infection and try to stay safe from pretended infected pretended inhabitants and pretended wolf packs. You pretend to have a backpack full of pretended gear and you carry pretended weapons which you pretend to shoot at others who pretend to be a survivor like you, both of you most likely pretending to be friendly. I guess pretending to be a robber could be added to the list? ;)

So nobody thought of the possibility to do a hold up / robbery? You don't necessarily have to kill someone to have his/her gear. Anyone can shoot someone in the back like a coward. Communicating and controlling an interaction is much more challenging AND rewarding...for both sides. And no gear gets ruined, maybe this is what the devs intended...

You blame the developers that you don't understand what game development is and made all kinds of assumptions about a release date, typical. Just because certain stuff is not available to us yet does not mean it is not being worked on or their state of completion. And with 2 posts, what did you do to help development? -

Not sure I agree with this, once a magazine is full it does not take up that much more space than 17 individual rounds, some unused space for the magazine spring bit I's say the total extra volume of a full magazine is no more than about 2 bullets. -
The Single Action Revolver deserves a place in this game.

I think we should have an air rifle in the game, I am sure they are used in a place like Chernarus, be it by the youth or for pest control on farms. Add small game to hunt with it, all I can think off right now we have in the game suitable for air gun hunting is the rabbit but maybe squirrels, rats and birds could be added to the game (which would also help to bring the woods more alive). -

IMO it makes no sense to maintain the history of Chernarus by pointing to ARMA 2, that is a different game with a different logic. DAYZ only happens to be based on the map ARMA 2 uses but with a different backstory. In A2 it made sense Chernarus was part of larger country / region but with DAYZ this does not have to be so. -

In the aspect of lore it would make sense if Chernarus was an Island. Abandoned and isolated because of the outbreak. If it was not an island and you'd find yourself as a healthy person amidst infected and aggressive people, struggling to survive on limited resources you would probably try to leave that area and flee to a neighboring country. -
Simulate light frequencies and add flashlight color filters.

As far as I know it is red that does not interfere with night vision (this is why in submarines they switch to red light before they surface in the night). Blue is used by medics and helps to see blood better and can be used to track bloodstains by hunters. Green is used for general lighting and map reading, human eye being sensitive to it but less visible at longer ranges, does mess a little with night vision but less than white light. Not sure about yellow, maybe for more contrast. These filters were also used for signaling. -
Lol, I am admin for a different game and regularly ban players. You have no idea how many times I have heard younger brothers and cousins were to blame...it is now such a cliche for me I choose to NEVER believe it...but hey, good luck.

Nice, first time I saw the wolves. I guess only way to get safe (when you are alone) is to hide in a building like you did or climb high like in a watchtower.

I am sure you know but the Z in DAYZ means ZERO not zombie. Also in official communications the devs always refer to 'infected'.

Seems the devs call them zombies themselves in the code. In 0.61 in top right corner you see some stats like blood and "last damage" and for me it said something with zombie. I guess zombie is just a lot shorter word than infected ;)

Getting infected yourself by an infected attack was already in the game a short while (I think 0.58 or possibly early 0.59?). I once got attacked and needed alcohol to clean my wounds.

It is always good to have an opinion but please elaborate on why you think a morale system would be a bad idea for discussion's sake. You may either convince other players why they should not want this or maybe it would turn out you envision a different end-product than others.

Morale or even a higher minimum level could also be influenced by: ( I am aware some may be hard to implement, just thinking along the same lines): -having established a base (the more secure and the more stocked with food and items the higher the boost) (a bse getting raided or destroyed could significantly decline morale) -wearing pristine clothing and backpack -being in possession of certain key items like weapons, ammo, can opener, axe or knife or having food and water on your person -surviving a confrontation with either infected or other players -completing a successful hunt, crop harvest or landing a fish and finding food -crafting items -maybe even discovering new villages and towns you never were in before

Within the same reasoning maybe we should be able to preserve a weapon with something like cosmoline. Downside would be the weapon would not be immediately ready for use as it would be needed to be cleaned first but would last longer in storage.
