    DayZ PS4 Discussion

There is no optimization going on not because the devs aren't good at it, but because this is not the time for it. Optimization takes place in beta or very very late alpha. That's how game development works and that's what I keep telling you guys over and over so can we please put this to rest for now? ;) I can't really talk about what exactly is involved in porting the game. What you said is a part of it, but there are other things that need taking care of.

    The camo building is stupid

I don't understand why it is a problem that the person defending a building has an advantage. That's the point of entrenching yourself in a building. It's not supposed to be fair. And saying that 3rd person helps the defender is nonsense. I would say the attacker has an advantage in that situation as he can check corners without exposing himself. Either way, that one is a moot point since there are 1st person servers available. If you don't like 3rd person, don't play on servers that allow it. It's simple as that. It's completely normal for houses/buildings to have a single entrance or a single stairwell to higher floors, I don't understand why anyone would expect a building that's 5x10m to have numerous entrances. Just because some buildings have them doesn't mean it should be a norm for every single building.

    Mosin Sniping is broken

Now now, promoting bug exploiting is so not cool. But this will be fixed in the next update so enjoy it while you can I suppose. ^_^

    Another game breaking glitch

You are wrong. Anyway to address the topic of this thread, this indeed seems to be an issue with BattlEye. I'm told the problem was fixed earlier today. Please try verifying your game cache in Steam or downloading and installing BattlEye manually from here http://battleye.com/download.html
  5. Exactly! Thanks for the vids, we'll have a look at it.

I can identify with that. I used to be a die hard Battlefield fan.. before BF3.

It is paranoia if you keep going on about your.. concerns (?) even after all available information says the exact opposite. If your posts are being hidden it's because you're being offensive/disrespectful/trolly or whatever. I don't hide any posts myself nor does anyone from the development team. If you have an issue with your posts being hidden, please PM Boneboys. Moderators can make a bad call and they can be disputed. The difference with spokesperson saying what you want to hear is that with DayZ there is no spokesperson like with different games on the market. You get information straight from people on the development team, people who write the actual code/create models. Not someone who's paid to tell you what you want to hear. That to me (as a slightly biased player) sounds more credible than a person in a suit with a trained smile. I don't think polls about the development speed are necessary. People will always complain. I'm telling you as a person who's been a part of several PC game developments and who's a part of development of DayZ that DayZ's development is definitely not slow in comparison. But there's no changing some people's opinions.

I can't help you with your paranoia. That's something you need to sort out yourself. ;)

What are you even on about? Pretty much all the companies in the world do that. Releasing both on PC and consoles at the same time that is. Why is this riddiculous when we do it if I may ask? Not to mention when Dean clearly says that consoles come after PC (which in turn is something that not everyone does)..

Optimization takes place in beta. There definitely is more involved in porting games to consoles. Not too much of a problem to be honest. Some media that  You can use R to reload your weapon. You just need a magazine/clip.

    Changing Servers...

So you're saying you're logging off when under attack from zombies or when you're being shot at? Yeah, losing a character like that is not a bug, friend.

That is simply a fallacy and you know it. If I downgrade to the version that was the first released right now there would be so much stuff different to the current version I would probably spend the whole weekend writing a list of the stuff that's different. Except it really wasn't. Let's put the fanboy/hater stuff aside please. It's nonsensical.

We warned everyone that the game is rough around the edges when it was released. We said that it's basically just the first playable version back then. A lot of people chose to ignore that warning. Like I said above, you should come back later, when the game does meet your expectations. Your post would be a breath of fresh air as I could understand your concerns, if it didn't contain the classic rant about hats and guns. Creating hats and guns does not affect the speed of any other updates. They are not worked on instead of programming issues. These items are made by artists. Artists can't work on code. It's not their job, it's not their skill, it's not what they're hired for. Programmers work on code, they don't work on hats and guns. No development time is lost when new hats and guns are made, the progress on code remains basically the same. Should artists just sit at the office and twiddle their thumbs and not work on anything while programmers work on code? Can we please finally understand this, everyone? The game is obviously going to be finished. I have no clue where this whole thing about the game never going to be released comes from. And I'm not saying you're wrong on the rest of stuff, well you technically are, but it can't be blamed on you as a lot of the changes in code are not as visible as a new hat or a gun. Like I said above I can understand where you're coming from in that regard, but development is not really slow by any means.

Wow, that is so full of misinformation, it's actually impressive. There is a massive difference between releasing a game on PS4 and releasing an Early Access game on Steam. I don't know why you would expect anything but bugs from an Early Access game. It's called Early Access. That implies that it's not finished yet. And in game development that means that's it's full of bugs. Literally all games are at this stage. That's exactly how game development works. I can understand that it's a new concept to people and they need to get used to it as a few years ago, at this stage, the game would still be behind closed doors. If you can't accept that you should've not bought the game or you should enjoy the fact that you got it for cheap and come back when it's closer to being done ;)

What? Why don't you, instead of resorting to completely unnecessary insults, explain what you're saying? You seem to have completely missed the point of my post as I was not hinting at the development speed of anything. EDIT: What I was saying is that when the development of DayZ started, the Arma 3 engine wasn't done. You can't exactly build games on an engine, when the game the engine is being built for is not even finished.

All of what you're saying are your (uninformed) opinions, to which you are entirely entitled. That doesn't make any of it facts I'm afraid ;)

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

If DayZ was to run on Arma 3 engine, the alpha probably wouldn't be out at this point. Development of DayZ started before the Arma 3 engine was done. Also you make so many wild (and wrong) assumptions I figure you must be a troll. It is possible that when the 64bit servers were announced they were already being developed by the console team and we were just not ready to announce the PS4 version. Dean even said in the announcement that each version will be developed "to each platform's strenghts".

Basically what that means is that if the console team uncovers an issue/makes an improvement in certain area, they then can let the PC team know and they will do the same/similar things on PC. Progress made on console advances the PC version this way. It could obviously be the other way around of course.
