That is pretty much it ;)

Is DayZ really set in fictional Ukraine?

No it's not. That sign is showing distance by road. Which actually pretty much adds up ;) https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Ústí+nad+Labem,+Česká+republika/Moskva,+Rusko/@51.5101904,20.8609007,6z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x470984a714d02511:0x400af0f66160e00!2m2!1d14.0531456!2d50.6611164!1m5!1m1!1s0x46b54afc73d4b0c9:0x3d44d6cc5757cf4c!2m2!1d37.6173!2d55.755826!5i1?hl=cs

    Would They Do It Again?

The difference between your and Mambo's post is that while Mambo is not happy with the game, he expresses his feelings in a fairly polite and calm way. That's alright as he is free to express his opinion after all. Your post was offensive and questioning the integrity of the dev team which is a no no (as is questioning mod actions). Since you are relatively new to the forums I'll just warn you this way, but please, keep the above in mind. Cheers!

Is DayZ really set in fictional Ukraine?

Not true actually. Some of the cities in the game are very close to what they (used to) look like in real life. Even some buildings in the game are modelled and placed according to the real life counterpart (the big rusty barn type thing near sobor for example).

Is DayZ really set in fictional Ukraine?

It's not intended as any specific country. It is a fictional ex-soviet union state. It could theoretically be any one of those.

    Or the first.

    No option for road signs?
  9. Alright folks, after cleaning the discussion up one time, I let it go on for a bit to see whether or not people can discuss this calmly. It turns out I should have stepped in earlier. Offending posts removed. Please stay on topic and don't start flaming one another for no good reason before suspensions start flying. Thanks!
  10. This issue is caused by certain models of routers, here's something that might help you. Add "-port=25007" into your DayZ launch options on one of the PC's. To do this, you can right click on DayZ in Steam --> Properties --> Set Launch Options and enter "-port=25007" (without the quotation marks). The number doesn't really matter as long as it's different from the other computers which will use 2302, 2303, 2305 by default. Again, only do this on one of your computers! Alternatively, if you have access to the router settings and upnp is turned on, you can try turning it off, restarting router then trying again. If this does not solve your problem, it would seem that you will have to buy a newer router. Hope this helps!

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

I will ignore your comments towards QA as I find them a bit offending coming from someone who doesn't really know what's going on. If I remember correctly, the video said that SC2 had over 16 thousand builds. These are internal builds. There are many, many internal builds of DayZ. We do not release every single build we create for internal purposes. SC2 obviously had an alpha. Every game has one at some point. And make no mistake, some (if not most) of the 16000 builds of SC2 were most likely broken, especially during alpha. As is the case with every game. It was just not public. What you're saying about the SC2 development is your opinion and is almost certainly wrong. The first clip was more or less a proof of concept and I would say that not a whole lot of the data that was there was in the development builds once the game reached the alpha phase. The second clip most certainly did not have all of the game's features implemented. They even said that they started working on Protoss in a later clip and Zerg even later on. As for opinions.. Before you complain that I marked nigh on everything as opinion, please prepare a list of sources that you used to make these claims ;)

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

First of all, BI did not grant anything really. BI itself is working on DayZ. There were definitely some things that were carried over from Armas into DayZ. Houses (Arma2) volumetric clouds (Arma3) are the first thing that come to my mind. It was decided however that a lot of the stuff was to be built from ground up to better fit DayZ. Even houses were extensively changed (hint, interiors). The reason that a not a lot of stuff was carried over from the mod is that creating a mod and a standalone game are two very different things. Some mechanics will work better than in the mod, but it will take more QA, more fine tuning and more time. As far as trademarks are concerned, I don't really know personally. They might be added later once we have all the guns we want in the game. Key word "might", don't quote me on this.

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

How so? The Starcraft video perfectly illustrates how game development works for the most part. You can clearly see that they were implementing things that didn't even make it into the release. They were completely rewamping some features, eg. you can see the old Creep Colonies were originally in the game still as means of spreading creep, yet they changed that to creep tumors instead for the actual game. I dare say that Starcraft 2's development was much more haphazard than DayZ and that's just going off of that one video. Obviously you just didn't get to see the development like you can with DayZ. Also note that in the video you can see that bugfixing and optimization is the very last thing they did which is, if I recall correctly, what OP was also calling for in his initial post. OP's original post was very far from constructive criticism. It was full of opinions that he presented as facts and complete misinformation. Do I? Please point these valid arguments out for me and I will address them as well. It's hard to not "sidestep" the good arguments when their arguments are mostly "bad".

DayZ Development progress makes no sense

I've not read all of your post(s), but let me address this. Vehicle prototyping is something that should definitely be done in alpha, not beta. What you say in your quote above is the same argument that pops up in every single one of the rant threads that get posted here, only you worded it a bit better. Why would the artist and animators not work on fixing stuff and adding more stuff no matter what stage the game is in? Are you suggesting that they should sit in their chairs and do nothing at all while they wait until programming support for say vehicles is finished? Obviously not. Please stop, you're making no sense.

    The camo building is stupid

I don't agree that adding an entrance would make any difference at all. Most people defending inside a building will logically seek a position where they can be only assaulted from one direction. In police station that would be on top of the stairs or inside any room on the second floor. If there was another entrance added to the barracks, people would camp in the showers. If there was another entrance added to the camo building they would still camp on top of the stairs. Unless you want every building to have multiple entrances and every room inside said building to also have numerous entrances, this problem (which is not really a problem imo) will never be solved as people will still look for the most defensible spot which will always be there and it will be essentially the same thing. And like I said earlier, just because one building has different points of access, it doesn't mean that all building should be like that.

I wasn't discussing any premise at all. Where was I ever discussing the premise of the game in my previous post?

    DayZ PS4 Discussion

There is no optimization going on not because the devs aren't good at it, but because this is not the time for it. Optimization takes place in beta or very very late alpha. That's how game development works and that's what I keep telling you guys over and over so can we please put this to rest for now? ;) I can't really talk about what exactly is involved in porting the game. What you said is a part of it, but there are other things that need taking care of.

    The camo building is stupid

I don't understand why it is a problem that the person defending a building has an advantage. That's the point of entrenching yourself in a building. It's not supposed to be fair. And saying that 3rd person helps the defender is nonsense. I would say the attacker has an advantage in that situation as he can check corners without exposing himself. Either way, that one is a moot point since there are 1st person servers available. If you don't like 3rd person, don't play on servers that allow it. It's simple as that. It's completely normal for houses/buildings to have a single entrance or a single stairwell to higher floors, I don't understand why anyone would expect a building that's 5x10m to have numerous entrances. Just because some buildings have them doesn't mean it should be a norm for every single building.

Now now, promoting bug exploiting is so not cool. But this will be fixed in the next update so enjoy it while you can I suppose. ^_^

    Another game breaking glitch

You are wrong. Anyway to address the topic of this thread, this indeed seems to be an issue with BattlEye. I'm told the problem was fixed earlier today. Please try verifying your game cache in Steam or downloading and installing BattlEye manually from here http://battleye.com/download.html
  21. Exactly! Thanks for the vids, we'll have a look at it.

It is paranoia if you keep going on about your.. concerns (?) even after all available information says the exact opposite. If your posts are being hidden it's because you're being offensive/disrespectful/trolly or whatever. I don't hide any posts myself nor does anyone from the development team. If you have an issue with your posts being hidden, please PM Boneboys. Moderators can make a bad call and they can be disputed. The difference with spokesperson saying what you want to hear is that with DayZ there is no spokesperson like with different games on the market. You get information straight from people on the development team, people who write the actual code/create models. Not someone who's paid to tell you what you want to hear. That to me (as a slightly biased player) sounds more credible than a person in a suit with a trained smile. I don't think polls about the development speed are necessary. People will always complain. I'm telling you as a person who's been a part of several PC game developments and who's a part of development of DayZ that DayZ's development is definitely not slow in comparison. But there's no changing some people's opinions.

I can't help you with your paranoia. That's something you need to sort out yourself. ;)
