    A security vulnerability was identified yesterday, and patched. SQF is depreciated and used for prototyping. Designers get the script functions working as it is much easier to play around with a script (no need to recompile etc) then they are handed off to the programming team for engine development. Honestly, how many times do I have to say this? I'm locking this thread because it has gone full yolo many times over...

    Let me get this straight, you think it is more likely that I "enabled VAC to save face" in response to someone on the internet calling me a liar, rather than enable VAC because it has a useful role in securing the game?

    If a server: Is not properly whitelistedLoses connection to the databaseThen your character will not save. As new servers get rolled up, there can be some delay before it gets whitelisted.

    Done. And FYI, the store page is not automated and linked to VAC, so just because something does not show up on the store page does not mean it's not enabled. For shits-n-giggles I could disable the Multiplayer tag if I wanted, but that would not mean that multiplayer would suddenly stop working and/or make me a liar.

    Anti-server hopping mechanisms are currently disabled until we have confirmed performance stability of the central server (as it has to manage the queuing process).

    Key points: VAC is already enabled.Additional anti-cheat will be implemented as phased approach. Legacy backdoor vulnerability was patched in 0.29There are still some additional changes to make, but a very significant critical vulnerability was fixed.

    Let me clear this up for you: There is hacking. There will always be hacking in every game. Nobody is trying to "hide" that. It's a fact. So what should be done!?!? The dev team should be vigilant and identify the vulnerabilities and close them. We change the architecture so it was no longer reliant on the client but that does not mean we found all the doors and closed them. THe process is to go through, identify those holes and close them. In ArmA, these holes were actually used as part of the game so they could not be closed. In DayZ, we do not use these by virtue of the architecture... but it only takes ONE hole to be left to be exploited. We have already moved hundreds of previous ways things could be exploited at the script and engine level, but that does not mean we got everything and that is the purpose of alpha, and the reason we will be patching very regularly.

Possibly Overall, I would not recommend it. But I think in a few weeks, it might go from "possible" to "yes" on the last one.

    Worth mentioning: We will not make detailed statements about anti-hack measures and details of them will be redacted from posted changelogs. I trust the reasons for that are obvious. So that mean's that you will not hear the work that is done towards all anti-exploit measures, hacks included.
