My point is, that many proclaimed "doom" about the bandit skin remove. But the opposite has been seen. I doubt the change itself has caused an increase, but something has. And bandit change hasn't resulted in substantially more bandits, and through it all we've seen a statistically dramatic increase in survival time. -

Yes. That's correct. - I'm asking why you think spawning without a weapon is the "dumbest fucking idea in the litany of horrendous ideas". - You've quoted a list of issues with the servers you want fixed mixed with some veiled insults. We're discussing this idea, if you can contribute and explain why the idea is so dumb - maybe we can come up with a better idea. -

It's definitely not the disconnection before death. I had been tracking that, and its actually much rarer than people think. While 4 minute increase seems like a tiny amount, its risen within a week. On the basis of about 400,000 characters in a population of 3 million. That's pretty statistically significant. As I said, we have no idea why this is. Time is based purely on ingame time. -
The only reason it's not longer, is to avoid the issues of body duping. To get around this and have a longer disconnect time, I would need to add another level of checking. I don't have the time currently, so its something that can be expanded, but I need to do a first level test to see what the effect is.

Currently' date=' there is significant incentive to kill new players, because: - They could kill you (they are a threat). - They have stuff you need (they are an opportunity). If they have no weapon, and only bandages. Then they present: - A waste of ammo (a risk). - Revealing your presence (another risk). - Attracting Zombies (yet another risk). The only reward would be the satisfaction of killing a player, which represents a small number of players. And such players would shoot regardless, and if they're sniping, your Mak does nothing. Not at all, I'm simply trying to get some feedback on whether to even bother trying it. It's a very trivial change, code wise, to try this out. I just wanted to see whether it was something the community supports trying. I'm still dubious as to whether this is workable. It might be far to difficult to actually get your first weapon. -

For those with super low humanity, they will be constantly followed by either flies or crows (testing both). This will prove sort of a passive warning to nearby players but it is fairly difficult to exactly spot which player is the badass. THOUGHTS? In twenty words or less, formatted with YES or NO in caps the line above, say your thoughts on trying this out For the sake of efficiency, I will delete all posts that don't follow the above exactly, or don't add anything to the argument. It's not a poll, its a discussion. If you don't have anything to ADD then please don't post. -

Crows people CROWS! And crows are one of the smartest animals... I believe they do have a knack of figuring out the way to find food... the theory is that if you're REALLY bad (very very low humanity), you get crows flying above you. -

I was thinking more of having the crows circle 20 meters or so above, I tested it - its very subtle. I was actually thinking of trying it without telling anyone and seeing if they notice :D -
The update will be named 1.7.0 to avoid confusion with the ArmA2 Patch 1.6) A major update is pending, that will mainly affect the server side code. This will have a significant impact on player loading times and general stability of player saving. The system hasn't been tested at capacity however our testing has so far indicated loading times are reduced to being almost instant. Servers will require the Beta patch to be installed (and therefore clients will also) prior to the rollout of ArmA2OA patch 1.61. Initially, when 1.7.0 is released we will bring several servers online with this to test this new method at capacity levels, prior to rolling out across all Beta servers. Once 1.61 is released all servers will run the new system.

If a mod is deleting your posts and you think it is wrong, bring it up like this and we will deal with the issue. But I think I'd prefer the mod's spent their time patrolling, not doing paperwork :)

I directed that we give a lot of leeway with posts and behavior and discussion. But I also directed that there is no requirement to notify for deleting posts, merging threads, etc... Practically, we just don't have the time.

I think Starcraft, Battlefield, World of Warcraft were awesome and amazing. But Battlefield 18, "World of Warcraft : Revenge of the Revengers who got Revenge in the previous Revenge Revenge", and Starcraft 283 - those aren't the most interesting of games. But they make money. What is happening right now, is that despite people saying they don't like "Free to play" games, you guys are shelling out a SHIT-TON of money to those games. If you want to see the future, that's your future. All I can say, be a smart consumer. Don't just buy shit because everyone else is. Same rules apply to DayZ/ArmA. -
