You need to ensure you have the dayz.bikey in the keys folder, or it can't sign the files. Along with any other require bikey files. If you disable verifySignatures, you are not only leaving your house unlocked, but broadcasting the situation across the internet (users can see the state in the server browser). It's a beacon for hackers.

if verifySignatures does not equal 2, you're gonna have a bad time.

A new 'status' to encourage cooperation
rocket replied to ScienceCow's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Woah, woah. You actually might be onto something here... could we get some feedback from lonewolf players? I'm not wanting to make things easier or force playstyles, but adding some psychological tension would be awesome. Something related to being around people, that could be medicated if you want to lonewolf. Thoughts? -

Extension to one of Rocket's idea: Gear damage by gunfire
rocket replied to psycho84's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I think there could be something here worth trying. Going to be a bit complex to code, but keep the discussion going. -
Zero tolerance for disconnects - NO EXCEPTIONS

What about crashes? loss of internet connection? Servers restarting/going down? -
It is my intention to get this localized (translated) and hosted as much as possible in Korea and Asia. But it's going to take some time.

Do not make DayZ mainstream noob friendly
rocket replied to disastr's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think' date=' if done properly, DayZ can be extremely profitable. I'm no hippie, I think I'm a total realist. But I like to think, I'm going for the big win - trying to think 5-10 years ahead. Not just this development cycle. The big companies, that is what they do - just one cycle at a time (ahem... THQ, may they RIP). Again, to reiterate. Chose wisely, be an informed consumer. Social media lets you do this now. You don't have to jump on the bandwagon anymore, and that is why sites like IGN and etc... will become irrelevant if they don't start valuing the real power: social media, streamers, youtubers.... basically: you. fucking. guys. The customer. It's no longer a bullshit marketing statement, it's fact. And I think it is social media that has made that happen. What I love about it, is that now it means I can talk directly to you as a developer, argue with you, get mad, and all that. That was never possible before in development, for me at least. It's very liberating. -
Dear rocket, f**k humanity. Focus on Morality.

why is the hourglass only half empty?
rocket replied to bahhh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its because I havent really focused on graphical glitches like that. Actually, its kind of a miracle that nobody else really has bought this up much before. It will be fixed, I'm just focusing on the big issues at the moment. -
Dear rocket, f**k humanity. Focus on Morality.
rocket replied to Goldstein (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm intrigued by the concepts, they've been touched on elsewhere. Humanity was chosen over what it was originally called (morality) because morality gave the impression I would cast judgement over your playstyle. And that was certainly not my intention. -
Depends what you mean by dead. As I understand it, it can restart someone's heart who is experiencing cardiac arrest. But I'm no doctor...
-
Anyone who already has a standard infection (they are coughing) has a significant chance of giving it to someone nearby.
-
I am surprised noone has asked this. But we haven't the faintest idea. It is currently calculated across all characters (ignoring those who died within a few minutes). Given the vast swathes of people who died earlier, there must be a dramatic rise in survival times for it to be rising. Any budding statisticians have some thoughts?

cans of beans should turn in to an empty tin can
rocket replied to bahhh's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yeah, this is how it worked initially. But it increased lag. Looked at having them just appear locally, but then we realized that would be confusing. -
There is already a chance you can get a standard infection on hit. Any damage can cause this, even player damage.

Rainbows and pony-mounts are the only option here!
-
Epinephrine (known as adrenaline) is already in game. Epinephrine IRL does not increase your speed or allow you to carry more. In game it is used to revive someone who is unconscious or who's heart is stopped (if your heart is stopped, you will have an unlimited timer).

20 words or less: Super-Low Humanity Detection

Remember, this would not affect bandits (who have maybe -2000 to -5000 humanity generally) but super-bandits. -
Friendly survivor system (hard-coded 'friendliness')
rocket replied to Sabata (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Thanks for the suggestion, I read through it and discussed it with some friends. Unfortunately, it just doesn't fit within the design pillars that I have set. I'm not designing this as a set of mechanics to enable or disable certain styles of gameplay, my main focus is on the emotional situation of the player. I'm not "dealing" with the KoS issue. My aim is to add some levels of subtle fear and tension to an area that currently has none. Hence the heartbeat mechanism appears to be something that might do that. Your suggested mechanic, while quite possibly "dealing" with the KoS, does not meet my aims of adding subtlety and tension, I would even argue that it actually reduces it. -
I have said this time and again, when the project is complete this can be part of the project. But certainly not now, when it is at best a distraction and at worst a downright serious problem. Facts: - I have respect for Kronzky's previous contributions to the community. - I was the one who asked for it to be taken down, and I believe my reasons are very valid.
-
I demanded it be taken it down. I wasn't going to say anything, but its clear that some knowledge is public so I will say this: We had an agreement, I felt (rightly or wrongly) that the agreement was not upheld. So I asked that it be taken down.I have time and again explained my reasons for it, they are valid reasons and all I have spoken to about who have been working with my work have agreed to them. I hold them accountable to their agreement.
