NEED GREAT HELP FROM THE GREATEST: Debug Plains
rocket replied to FanasNize's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Did this get sorted? -
Agreed, sounds are *damn* important to the game. More so than really anything else. Much work to be done, not just on the sounds but how the engine deploys them. High on the list chaps! Max's suggestions are fantastic (as always!)

Week 3 Ivan and Martin arrested. Show them you care
rocket replied to Mysticales's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just to clarify. They were on holiday. The island, which is not an faithful representation by even the slightest stretch of the real island, is well finished from a map designers standpoint. It would be far to late for them to be "researching" the island, hence why that accusation makes no sense. But, that's not even what the authorities are saying. That is even crazier.- 264 replies

Serious questions for Rocket & Battleye
rocket replied to crockett (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
We prefer people running private hives, although currently none of the private hives feed statistics into the DayZ website. By people using private hives, it frees up the development of the project to actual design fun stuff in the game, and not solve networking issues etc... -
Are dogs worth 2 months of development time?
rocket replied to MasterSith's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I'm working on dogs in my "spare time". They'll be done shortly, they're not a required item for game we just want to see if some people will find them useful or not They also allow us to explore attacks between players and NPC animals for future development. -
FOR THE LAZY: DayZ Staff can not and do not have access to BattlEye global bans, and can not revoke them in any way possible. You MUST contact BattlEye support about any bans issued on you. Look, we don't issue the Global Bans. They are issued by BattlEye. I cannot explain how they are issued, but I reviewed the process. These are very legit bans, issued not by DayZ but by BattlEye. IF YOU DO: YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE ANY HELPFUL REPLIES AS YOU ARE A KNOWN HACKER NOTIFIED BY THE BATTLEYE SYSTEM. We have NO way of removing your ban. You will receive a ban from these forums if you post such a request, as you have been branded a known hacker. I SAY AGAIN: THERE IS NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT YOUR BAN (except post some meme's). - please feel free to discuss ISSUES but not SPECIFIC BANS in this thread.

Increased use of Armaversum in DayZ Standalone
rocket replied to tommygun9504's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Personally, I'm not a fan of the Armaversum. I'd prefer DayZ to be set as ambiguously present day as is possible. DayZ isn't about the story, its about the story of the players themselves. (but I do work at a place where the Armaversum is rather important :P) -

Key theft and hacks, is it safe?
rocket replied to Skullet~Man's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
CD key in use is different from a global ban. What does happen sometimes, is that people buy CD-Keys in bulk (say from a website store) using stolen credit card details, and then resell them on their own store/ebay/etc.... When the card correctly gets identified as fraudulent, the keys get removed and those who bought the key find they can no longer use it. Where did you buy a game from? -

Dont play DAY Z today! Massive CD stealing while IN GAME
rocket replied to thelonewarrior's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
So what is your proposed solution? People complain about hackers. Then people complain about bans being issued. Battleye is just like PunkBusters/VAC. Please do your research before posting mindless rubbish. If you have evidence to present that something has falsely occurred, then please do post it. If you do not, then how on earth do we authenticate what is being said? Or should I now listen to every random person on the internet? -

The debug monitor is not supposed to be in game, fixing it is not a priority. It is only even included simply for ease of use.

Fact: DayZ Loads many, many, many more objects into a mission than a normal ArmA2 mission. Fact: Most of these objects occur AFTER the mission is loaded, very little is preloaded as part of the mission loading sequence. Fact: This has caused NaN results for verticies in instances of certain objects, that were binarized in a different way. When the verticies went to NaN they stretch as far as allowed in the engine (50m max size for an object). Fact: A change in the way ArmA2 rendered made NaN happen with these objects, due to a graphical optimization. Floating point precision was lost in complex scenes, causing the issue. Fact: This has been fixed for the dead bodies. Fact: It is possible, but much less likely, that this occurs for Wire Obstacles.

Yes, vehicles and tents fixed. I just missed that from the notes. Last weekend I was at PAX Prime in Seattle, weekend before I was at Gamescom in Germany. That's two burned weekends in a row. And I just arrived back from a trans-atlantic flight, so cut me a little bit of slack :) I'm tired :)

Team of testers, all of whom had the artifacting issue before, have been testing. None have reported any artifacting after the patch.

Thats an engine issue, backpacks are a bit fucked how they work in the engine. I might do something for mod, but most likely standalone.

We don't know what effect a hive wipe could have, probably nothing but that kind of large scale change is something we would need to think about. For starters, 100k new character creations at the same time could cause an issue. We just don't know, we would need to think a bit more before wiping everything.
