  1. i disagree because i dont think you should know anything about anyone else in the server, and if you want to keep count of how many zombies you killed, you could remember it or write it down. can you re-use paper in game, like a diary? im not sure.
  2. took me a while playing arma 2 before i got the controls cuz i was so used to battlefield, but now i like the controls a lot, i think they suit that game and this one
  3. irl your view is restricted in a motorcycle helmet, and it would be cool to see that letterbox view and also side view restriction, and look up/down restriction. (maybe same type of thing would apply with gas mask, or any headgear) would love to see this in the game somehow. this 1st pic would be standard view looking forward,(player is crouched in pic) this second pic would be looking over your left shoulder using alt, (player is crouched in pic) looking up or down would slightly increase the border size on top or bottom of screen, alt look should also be decreased, with motorcycle helmet, you should not be able to turn your head so far around, __________________________________ it should not be possible to sprint for long wearing motorcycle helmet, or it should deyhdrate you faster also hearing should be reduced or muffled, and breathing sound should be increased or changed with an effect to make it sound as it would.
  4. ok i slightly changed the o.p. by adding new pictures with slightly less border, and adding the idea of reduced alt view. it was a bit too much in the original pictures, i agree, i didnt mean actual letterbox view i just meant a realistic view and i think there would be space for what you would see, on the screen, especially if you had a higher fov, and i think the side view is the most important border. even reducded hearing woudl be good, and increased breathing sound, i will add those to the op now too.
  5. i think the picture you posted of metal helmet is not the view my pictures portray, the view from such a helmet is extremely small, less that in my examples. i did appologise for the pics when i posted as they are not perfect, but they show the idea i was tryign to get across. I think the top and bottom borders can be reduced, to create less of a thin letterbox, the looking over shoulder limitation is more important. every motorcyclist who has owned this type of full face sports helmet knows that looking up and down view is blocked by the helmet, and when looking over left/right shoulder the vision from the left/right eye is greatly reduced by the helmet decreasing head movement, aswell as by the helmet actually blocking the view, as i showed in the pic. i think this is why this should be simulated when using alt view. when you are using iron sights of a rifle in dayz, you have limited alt view, i think a similar limitation should also be included with alt view when wearing a motorcycle helmet

    Melee effectiveness

how did someone vote no to thsi question? weird haha maybe fist should still ko if its a perfect hit on a small hitbox on the jaw or something? im not sure how it works at the moment tho anyway.
  7. ok so first you suggest action restriction woudl be better than view restriction, then when i ask why, you reply that its because both would be too cumbersome? if i do undersdtand you, you are now saying that you dont want any restrictions when wearing motorcycle helmet at all, because you would find it too difficult to see around you, and you you are against the idea? ok. _________________________________________ anyway, in a car game i wana see the car around me, flight game i wana be in the cockpit, i think this game is about dealing with a realistic(as much as possible) environment, and making choices with consequences, such as, "do i want the added protection/reduced visibility that a moto helmet offers"

    Remove disable shadow

shadows are a big part of cover, its not cool to think that players have them disabled, even they are not doing it to gain an advantage. i think it should be essential to have a minumum shadow setting in place.
  9. instead of? action restriction would be good, but i dont understand why you think it should be instead of view restricion.
  10. you dont think a black object is more camo than a bright red and yellow object?
  11. axe is essential at the moment in this game, and a pristine one, is bright red and yellow. if you understand the concept of camo, spraying your axe green and/or black axe is definately the correct choice.

    The Ladder

grapple hook and rope would be realistic,

    Remove Coupled Mags?

i voted yes, because coupled mag should be removed unless it gets fixed, but that woudl be a shame , because of course its a realistic thing to do with mags. if fixed, make option for coupled mag with duct tape + 2 mags (ive never found them so i thouht that was how people had them anyway)

    A few small suggestions

op, how many house doors do you know of that open both ways?
  15. i see, yeah, damage to visor would be cool effect, although removing a cracked visor might be more beneficial.
  16. its obvious that they're weaker than balistic helmet, and im sure balistic helmet will become rarer as the game progresses. correct, a newly spawned player is more likely to wear a motorcycle helmet, or someone who is running around a coastal town. apart from your reasons of "its not necessary" and "its not needed" your main reason is that you think it would be too difficult, although this game you are playing is about problems, challenge, survival. myself and many other players want that level of difficulty and challenge, and having no restriction to the view feels unrealitisic, in a "realism" game. also, what could be more important that having a realistic first person viewpoint? ive never played that game, but i agree that every item of clothing/headwear should have the correct view perspective. right, i usually wear a camo scarf or hat

    Snaring or trapping?

its a good idea, theres no reason why traps and even tripwires shouldnt be in this game, if its possible to add it.

Earning the right to access new map....

i disagree with this suggestion because i feel that it sounds restricting, and goes against the open ended vibe of dayz in general
  19. because they offer some protection from melee attack, irl and in game. Although that is not the point, i feel that that protection should come with a cost. they provide a view restriction, and i feel that should be fully represented in game. Added protection, reduced vision, as would be the case in reality. the balance should be there, and for many 1st person players it woudl add more immersion, more paranoia, more care, etc, i cant think of a negative effect it would bring, except to players who woudl find it too difficult to deal with, but i think those players woudl generally play on 3rd person mode, anyway, you didnt bother explaining why you downvoted, ? why do you think it would be a bad idea?

    Devs, please make this game!

op, you say that most people play as "bandit", including yourself, while i think a lot of people don't play bandit, i have met many armed players who have not shot me, and i have had many full military players walk past me in my sights , im in an upstairs window or whatever in a remote town, and i have not killed them, because they are unaware of me, and there is no need to kill them, i am not threatened. mayeb in that situation as a bandit, you would always shoot them? maybe there is already more to the game than you are realising, the game is how you chose to play it, its not strictly pvp at all, i see the pvp without question as boring, but i am happy peopel do play that way. some of the craziest encounters are when you attepmt to communicate, or try to avoid being seen, avoid getting into a fight,
  21. i imagine shotguns would be more common than handguns and rifles, in this rural farm land. in battlefield games i dont use shotguns ever , but in this game it makes sense, that they woudl be more common, and i never relax until i have a sawn off shotgun in my rucksack, for those crazy moments, and close quarters exploration. just basic, standard types, that farmers might own, would be fine with me, although why not have 1 or 2 type of military grades, since m4 is in game already, in the "appropriate" places.

    Blunt/Bayonet firearm attacks

yes, it would be good to be able to hit an enemy with the butstock of a rifle, or a bayonet, (they hopefully will add using a bayonet at some point, since they're in game already) as well as being realistic, with a chance to knock down the enemy, it would give time to switch to melee weapon

    Gameplay vs Realism

@op, i think realism = fun, left4dead is the game for you,
  24. @op, what is realistic about recognizing someone from 2 meters away? i can recognise people from much further away irl. as can most people with normal eyesight. 2 meter recognize is unrealistic. text showing up in the game by a player is also unrealistic, dean hall gave a presentation a couple of days ago i watched on twitch tv, im sure something was mentioned about armbands. i thought that sounded like an ok solution. i think any text on screen is an immersion breaker, personally.
