    Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous

    Multiplay Public 30 Player - 1 month: 66.43 30 player - 3 month: 179.36 40 player - 1 month: 88.95 40 player - 3 month: 239.34 Private 30 player - 1 month: 102.52 30 player - 3 month: 276.82 40 player - 1 month: 124.74 40 player - 3 month: 336.80 Fragnet Public 40 player - 1 month 82.20 40 player - 4 month 221.94 Private 40 player - 1 month: 118.19 40 player - 4 month: 329.91 Why is the pricing for private shards through the roof? Upgrading from public to private is more expensive than a month for a DayZ mod server.

Your help with Tents on "dead" servers.

Don't use/play on gameservers servers. Persistence doesn't work on their servers and they are using poorly working machines. We just closed our server from that provider and will never do business with them again. Reason being, tons of tickets and extended response times to tickets.

Will persistence be on by default after wednesday's stable patch

I thought I read when 0.50 goes stable that persistence will be global. I've been playing experimental and its still not working properly so I'm hoping to see this feature go live on the following Wed which would be November 5th.

    Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous

These numbers are from the respective hosting sites. Multiplay and Fragnet. I've read this from ya'll quite often so I looked into these machines and they are basically double strength (if I'm not mistaken) of DayZ mod machines so where do they get off charging triple price? In the mod a public server was the same price as a private server, but now its more w/fee's fee's fee's? We just closed an account with Gameservers. Reason we stopped using them is the machines and service to be blunt are shit. I've had to put in well over a dozen tickets and response to said tickets many times was well over 72 hours. When we had persistence enabled and requested a rollback (because they don't have an option to do it manually in the ACP) it took 48 hours for them to elloborate on a simple question and the rollback feature was on a 12 hour cycle. We had to switch machines almost immediately in our contract as server restarts will wiping players almost every restart. Most recently, we've been getting off-schedule restarts with persistence disabled that are sometimes 20 minutes apart. Everything is running fine then there is a cluster of these restarts. Many donators (15 donators) are losing items in their backpacks randomly during these off-schedule restarts. It took GS practically a week to address this issue by simply saying "We apologize for the long delaye here. We do expect these stability issues and other performance issues to be addressed when the next patch is released. A tentative ETA for this to occue si the 29th of this month." And we're expected to pay MORE money? Its roughly a 3rd more in price. Not exactly a few bucks. Private shards have RPT logs and whitelisting which puts every GUID in the hands of admins with ban powers which is a lot more than what is currently available. I am sick and tired of getting hacked on a daily basis and I don't want to hear anybodies cookie cutter experience of not running into any hackers. I have 1.7K SA hours and we're running into hackers in a daily basis. We go on 30 player servers to avoid them, still there. Stay out of hot zones like Berezino, still there. Last night we got Esp/Tele hacked in a remote spot down south and when we respawned my friend ran into a freshy who described both hackers and how they were in Novo minutes before doing the same thing. Our community wants a hacker free environment and the private shard is the only way to achieve this. If Bohemia got their act straight and let public shard users have access to RPT logs the hacker situation would be much different. Admins could cross reference worldspace and GUIDs and make accurate reports for internal banning. Yet, this is a feature you have to pay for. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but it almost seems like they let the hackers run wild on purpose because the end result is if you want to be hacker-free you got to pay. I know they have an entire team working on security and beating hacks, but lets hire a few more bodies and let US help them do something about getting some bans in the DB. But Dean is all about fixing and not banning…something has got to give and fixing hacks isn't working. Since 0.49, hacks have been stronger than ever. Steam charts indicate player-base is half. Reason for that is (check reddit on the subject) is the hacker presence is out of control. The bubble was supposed to prevent all this hacking, yet here we are. Lets put some tools in the hands of the community and work together in doing somehting positive instead of finding ways to drain more money from the community.
  6. Location: Northern Chernarus Coordinates: 075 007 Build: 0.50 Experimental Branch In this episode of Inside DayZ Standalone our research teams will take you on a virtually guided tour of the unfinished military base near Kamensk. Don't get attached to it as Lead World Designer Arseny Smirnov (aka Senchi) says that this base "is not supposed to be here." Also, we will be showcasing all new items in the most current 0.50 experimental build. Check out our topographical map of all four bunker locations @ 3:46 Thanks for watching! http://youtu.be/JtVvXrjozUE

    [Street Lights] Power Grid Maintenance

Once we get a toolbox for vehicles (assuming) this tool box could be used to maintain and power up specific power grids to turn on street lights in that specific area for night play. As it stands, DayZ is missing something very big which is playing at night. Street, house, and tower lights in the mod made night play very attractive. It wasn't all that bright either. If you were in the city you had light to loot by. On the road, you could see a light up ahead to light your way. It was very subtle. I realize in the mods case you have to give up a bit of legitimacy as to how could lights ever work under apocalyptic conditions. But it looked great and playing at night is super important for game play in DayZ. A long while back in 3PP (SA) there was like one street light on in every town, I have no idea why they didn't do more. The longer they wait to get people into night play, the harder it will be. To keep a feel of legitimacy, I think it would be great to be able to work on a power grid and power up lights on zones related to that grid.

What sort of issues were you having with the BEC script? Did you have access to it? Good to know about adjusting max ping…thanks!

    [Street Lights] Power Grid Maintenance

Possible to provide a source for your first sentence? I know it was a while ago but I would very much like to read them thanks I'll never accept that. Night play is massive and servers should ultimately be time locked. People will like it if its done right, I know it can be done. Torchia just put up something in todays Status Report about lighting for nights. Not street, but sky from Skybox.
  13. Weyland Yutani (DayZ)

    Having your own server?!?

Can you adjust your max ping? If no, what is the stock setting? Also, what were your tickets about?
  14. Weyland Yutani (DayZ)

    [Street Lights] Power Grid Maintenance

End game is too late and people won't play nights then. They put full moons way too late in the mod and the same thing happened…very little people played it. Either street lights are in the code or they aren't. If they are in the code, they have a purpose so its hard for me to believe a street light was never meant to be on. The code is all new anyway (I remember them saying how they had to rewrite well over a million lines of code for SA) and the lights weren't on in the mod anyway, you needed a script for that. The point here isn't perfect exaplianable reality, its getting people to play at night time. Certain concessions need to happen and playing in daylight only is half the experience. In RL, Rify would never be upright in that environment. In RL, bloodstains would be black/dark brown and not red. Having lights on would combat Gamma exploits. Maybe not a generic toolbox, but a tool box for items one could find that could help get the grids online. Not a lot of options to get people playing nights.

    Having your own server?!?

I rent from gameservers and they suck. I've had over 10 support tickets and switched boxes. Support tickets take anywhere from 17-72 hours to get a response. No drop down or tick box for persistence and you have to put in a support ticket to turn it on. They say they server like 20+ countries but when you get in they are all on back order. Price for 30 plaer is 70 and they force you into a TS. Also, clan pay refunds can become a hassle. Vilayer has a weird setting that you can't control for max ping, or so I hear. Fragnet only does 40 player servers. I think we will be moving to Multiplay at the end of the month and doing a 3 month option to keep costs down.

    Private Shards & Weather

I made a mistake here. I totally misread your post. Sorry man…I apologize.
  17. Weyland Yutani (DayZ)

Still no private shards available! Why?

October 1st... "Within weeks you will begin to be able to rent private shards of the central DayZ hive along with your DayZ server instance from your preferred game server provider." http://dayz.com/blog/status-report-week-of-29-sept-14
  18. Weyland Yutani (DayZ)

So... Is it just me or do servers restart way too often?

Persistence related. Don't go on persistence enabled servers.

    Private Shards & Weather

Read a Status Report, it does a body good. End of the month when 0.50 hits stable for private shards.

Still no private shards available! Why?

Start reading the Status Reports and you would know they are coming at the end of the month when 0.50 is pushed to Stable. Reading is your friend!!!

Recipe Book + Medical Journal + Mechanic Manual

Did you play the mod at all? Vehicle/aviation replair consisted of knowing what was broke by having a tool box. If you had a tool box you could textually see what parts were missing and the damage rating of what parts were already inside. There wasn't any visuals to repair. If they keep the same system then having the book would be necassary to combat online guide exploits. On the other hand, if they had some sort of grahpical representation of an engine and your profiency at fixing them was kind of like The Long Dark with making fires and how they go out, then having the book all the time might not be necessary. Not sure if this would be considered a rating of skill or profiency at that point. I have serious doubts we'll see any graphical representation of engine repair other than the mod a la textual. But ya never know. It would be super cool if that was the case. Going to watch TWD, later man…good chat!

Recipe Book + Medical Journal + Mechanic Manual

I understand what your saying, but you got to admit your being a bit biased because you possess these skills in RL. In a perfect world, I would lean more your way. But, the people in the community that know these things are decimal point minority and shouldn't be catered to. I disagree that the integrity of the game should lay down because of online resources. Requiring books in ones possession beats the "no way around it" theory. Out of 2.5M sales how many know mechanical aviation repair? I don't think that should be given away to all of the playerbase because a handful of people know these skills. The point here is to keep people interested in the game as much as possible and hunting down rare books will help achieve this. The reason why banditry, murder and kos is at an all-time high is because of lack of content, Hall himself has said this. If you look at the mod, Bandit to Hero ratio was about 1:1 with a slight edge to Bandits. SA has brought in a ton of new players. I have met several hundred players in-game and I can modestly count on two hands (more like one) the amount of mod players I've run across. Lack of content and lack of mod players in-game (which is a fact) results in all the new players knowing what they know…COD/Counter-Strike kill kill kill mentality. Hero's are far and few in SA. The longer there is lack of content, the longer the bandit mentality will stick around and maybe by the time the game is beta the residual effects will last a lot longer than expected, maybe indefinitely. Certain concessions need to be made and with the exploit mentality as rampant as it is, books need to be in possession for the system to be effective. Trade and bartering needs to happen to breath life into DayZ.

Recipe Book + Medical Journal + Mechanic Manual

I got what your saying and its crystal clear. Thanks for taking the time to respond as well. My thoughts are, just because you personally know how to work on a car in real life, doesn't mean the rest of the player base does. If what you suggest was implemented, then everyone who plays DayZ and knows how to use Google would know what to do w/o ever touching a book in-game. The end result is, people would hear/know about the feature, but never look for a book/journal/manual and junk status will stay static. Also, think about the long road of development and someone being on a quest to get a helo working. All the parts are acquired and now they need the know-how, only to find a book infected with cholera or a specific page torn out that they need. Ultimately, w/o the book in possession the feature gets exploited unfortunately.

    Discussion: Barricading and Raiding

Ham_Sandwhich, your the type of person who is never wrong and never learns from a discussion/debate and I could see this a mile away. I actually typed that in my original post but wanted to give you the benefit of doubt and deleted those thoughts from my post. Your what teachers refer to as the 'unteachable' and I'm one of those people that believes in the concept. If you want to become something more than a statistic, have yourself a read on those links below. Maybe there is still a nano-spec to me that believes that everyone is teachable. Simulation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simulation Authentic vs Realistic: http://www.polygon.com/2013/3/28/4155988/authenticity-vs-reality-designing-dayz I won't be responding. If your ego feels the need to respond with more "LOL's" then be my guest and have the last word. You obviously need it. Reiterating, have a good day friend!

    Discussion: Barricading and Raiding

Realism vs authenticy. Do some basic DayZ research before getting involved into an in-depth conversation. I can call it a simulation because Brain Hicks who basically runs DayZ calls it a simulation and BIS (Bohemia Interactive Simulations) are famous for making RL simulations. Its whats for dinner. Your definition of simulation is erroneous. There are natural caveats to video simulations and if you can't see that and how obvious the concept is, I'm not going to sit here trying to convince you otherwise. I don't want to derail this thread into a pit of bickering. Just to entertain your reply for a second, maybe when your offline your sleeping. Have a nice day!
