Why not, whats the difference? There is a lot of things in-game that is utter nonsense. Growing full crops that take months in 10-20 minutes is absurd. Whats the alternative...wait 2 months for toms to grow? We're playing a survival simulator not a time simulator. Maybe make a tree not grow in 20 minutes. Maybe make it a few days of in-game time. You're being serious? What does the renderer have to do with CLE? Nothing. CLE is the most problematic right now and is why the player count is down. FACT: People defending the devs (who haven't really fucked up big yet) are the minority. Haters like yourself are the majority and a dime a dozen. I'm not. Dude, their company name is Rooster Teeth FFS. Like who signed off on that. RTX looked like some serious amateurs. For starters, they had audio sync issues for hours before Hicks. Secondly, how old are those cams? That menu looked over 20 years old like they signed them out of a university film lab or something. Lastly, whoever accessed that cam needs to be fired. The first thing an audio engineer should do is check the cables and we didn't get that. How do I know? Because you could hear the plug buzzing. What I think happened is the plug got pulled out by some cosplay weirdo but only pulled it out so it wasn't making contact and appeared to be plugged in. Reason I think this is, I heard the jack being manipulated before the presentation as it was buzzing in a controlled fashion bouncing off the female end of the device. I'm going to reserve my comments about base building until Hicks gets that video up.

Thanks for chiming in and nice to meet you! A calendar quarter probably is exactly how you say, but we don't know of BI's roadmap is based on a calendar or fiscal year so we can only speculate. BI isn't a US business so there is that to consider. Regarding the stretching of logic, its been brought up on several occasions (here, reddit, etc) that Bohemia Interactive's quarter possibly isn't a a traditional calendar quarter. I gave examples and sources to show that there are other options to consider.

Beizs, I totally support your thread. I agree they've made some serious magic happen with what they've had and how they've improvised along the way. Dean Hall did say sometime after SA first hit that Beta would be the end of 14'. Later that year, they moved the date up to approx. July 15'. At the end of the year or whenever the roadmap hit for 2015, we got an extension of Beta which is now Q4 which will almost likely be Q1 17'. Remember, those initial dates were before they got contracts for console ports and they're budget expanded. Basically, your top two points are the same point. Persistence is connected to CLE. Your last point, we already have a basic crafting system. You're referring to advanced base-building. This is definitely possible. I think it depends on the company and the location of the company. Not sure if this can actually be done, but wouldn't it be cool if debug looked like an endless misty forest instead of flat plains? Like an endless Japanese suicide forest (Aokigahara) or something. Go to 32 seconds in... I like some of these towns like Stary Yar, but debug kind of besmirches the feel.

Seeing as there are a ton of books in DayZ, why not get folks using them? Learning is a cool thing and in RL these kids aren't reading (enough) books anyway. If there is no film, not interested. This could be great for potential medics (and later on mechanics) as well as those looking to live off the land effectively in an interesting fashion. Alas, as it stands, books are junk loot for most of the player base. Sure there are guys and gals who live off the land and like a nice book to pass the lonely nights…but lets be honest, they are the vast minority. My idea is that a recipe book, medical journal, and mechanics manual should be rather rare and there should be a pay off for having it. Maybe even like a farmers almanac type thing to grow bigger and better crops. Certain recipes might heal you faster over a short period of time. Maybe some recipes for healing that you would need certain herbs like Athelas for mending serious wounds. http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Athelas Or a recipe for a Lembas type product for long lasting energy. http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/Lembas Later on medical journals will help medics find cures for certain ailments and diseases. For mechanics and those that cry delicious tears about helicopters, lets get specific manuals for specific helo models that are absolutely necessary for repair and maintenance. I know what your thinking: Wiki and all of the internets will just post the recipes and etc and the entire idea will be exploited. Easily fixed: To beat the potential exploitation, one must have the book in question, in their possession, for the recipes to work. Also, tearing a page out of the book with a certain recipe, cure, etc on it will basically delete that element from that book. I remember a very old interview with Dean Hall (maybe pre-alpha 2013ish) where he said he doesn't want skills/perks in DayZ but moreso proficiencies for medics and mechanics in the sense that the more you do it, the easier it becomes. Honestly, I think thats rather empty as how could you ever learn that profiency in the first place? A lot of potential here imho.
