Console whore. Played COD competitively, loved COD Zombies. Read this article about DayZ: http://www.pcgamer.com/now-playing-arma-2-mod-dayz/ YouTubed DayZ and watched some Frankie videos. Instantly addicted... Played public hive for a week or two...got hacked to shit, rented a shared hive server then eventually switched to private hive.

Yup. I got one barrel and one tent with one on the east side of the map and one on the west side of the map. My gear is animal leather dyed black with a minimalist courier pack. Winchester, axe, side-arm and I never run with my gun out. Reiterating, your wrong. Why would I believe you when I've seen and tested this with my own eyes? Certain area's; in this case high value loot spawns, are loot farmable. Its 5-10 seconds if you remove the items and move them completely. IPA: kwänsət Commonly, when a 'u' is before an 'o' the 'u' turns into a 'w.' Sounds like 'kwon-sit' Who cares that language is what separates us from the beasts! Why not start calling M4's, 1911's or Peaches? People that don't use the proper word for something gets on my nerves. Nothing pretentious about using basic words. Hey I got an idea, instead of calling it DayZ...lets call it Mario Kart. Wouldn't that be pretentious? Whats the difference right? ;) Kind of reminds of people calling the office building (Land_A_Office01) a 'school' when its doesn't look like a school in any way, shape, or form. Its an office building. I wouldn't go that far. Just just basic English. Not talking high level linguistics here, just basics. -

If an admin had the mind to abuse a tool, its going to happen with any tool. Potential admin abuse isn't a good reason to not have tools. People will leave those communities and find mature communities. When modding comes out its going to happen anyway, free cam etc so kiss your camp goodbye if you're playing on a server that has admins with a mind-set for abuse. No idea where you feel the need to throw power related insults my way. You have no idea who I am or what I've done in my life. This topic seems to upset you, I wonder why. You have no idea what you're talking about. I've been running servers in SA for well over a year and loot farming is an epidemic. You're on the outside looking in and as you admit, you're a crumb-catching server hopper which isn't an honorable way to get what you want. Play the game and pay your dues instead of hopping from server to server to get your gear. If I was to guess, you sound like a loot farmer defending your territory. Not everyone server hops. I haven't server hopped since private shards came out and at that time I realized the error of my ways. Server hopping is for the weak and destroys the community. Why would I assume if someone has gear that they loot farmed for it? Doesn't make any sense and not sure why you used that model to make a point. Your assumption is in error as I'm not talking about server hopping. If I was talking about server hopping I would say server hopping. I'm talking about loot farming which is as old as the mod. You're obviously ignorant as to how the game works. The quonset huts in particular at NWAF, Myshkino, etc...take the loot out and drop it outside and the loot INSTANTLY respawns. Not sure where you get a 30 minute delay from. I have an open ticket on the feedback tracker dated 9/14 regarding the issue. We have watchdogs policing the Myshkino tents and we're banning several people a week. Its called a quonset hut, google it. People putting loot in bags and leaving them crushes server performance. At one point several patches back we were restarting the server every 1-2 hours because it was crashing due to this. There was like 50 bags at Veresnik Base filled with shit on a regular basis. It practically destroyed our project. So yea, insta-ban. There is plenty of choices. For example, how about interacting with others to trade? Interaction is what DayZ is all about, not loot hoarding to play COD. Maybe look for camps and have an adventure? You are incorrect with how the items despawn works. I was looking for a hunting scope a week or so ago. I was going from deer stand to deer stand to find a scope. After several hours with no luck I logged out near a deer stand in a very out of the way place as it was late and went to bed. Logged in the next day and the contents of the deer stand were fresh. -

Hunting Scope for What Gun?

Winchester and Blaze are the best. Blaze has almost zero sway and seems to have more hitting power but you're reduced to 2 shots and if you use a controller like I do you shoot two shots every time which made me quit using it. Winchester is a excellent alternative. Deer stands and chicken shacks. Good loop for deer stands at Green Mountain. -

Another complaint thread...how original. Find another game to play if you don't like it. Its only going to get harder. When zombies are a threat, I got 50 bucks says you post a complaint thread on how you can't run into a city/town anymore w/o dying to zombies. Dime-a-dozen and these threads are literally destroying the site. -
Doesn't mean they know jack about game development though. I was an early mod player (2012) and I'm fine with where they're at. I tried playing the mod again recently and remarked at how bad it is. Better left a memory...and they are great memories.

I'm speaking with a Senior Tech at the moment and he's going to try and solve this issue for us. Good news right? If you didn't know, I'm responsible for getting a banlist.txt, a proper timer drop down for MOTD implemented, as well as another feature that I'm forgetting atm. I really think they should hire me as a consultant. One good thing about MPGS is if you approach them properly, they will eventually listen and are willing to make changes to the ACP to accommodate their customers. Thats a very big thing imho.

Caveats are necessary. Whats the average life-span in SA? I'm sure this has a lot to do with the health system. If the hunger rate was lowered or if it was anything related to RL, nobody would ever eat food because they'll be long dead before they get hungry. -
MPGS Senior Support Technician: "The twelve hour resets are different to the restarts, this is a wipe of the persistence file for the server and as such is very different from a restart which just shuts it down and starts it back up again. These can now be done every twelve hours but require you to submit a ticket requesting it to avoid any potential abuse by someone." WTH?

Thank you sir. BE has nothing to do with Auto-restart. I use MPGS and they're telling me they have to rewrite the system, but why? It was working before the last update. Confused. They said they're busy doing other things and will get to it when they get to it. We rent 5 servers from them and I have to say, this is fucking bullshit. Read my ^ Post #8. I've tweeted Hicks and Eugen and I believe Eugen is looking into it. I'll keep you updated. And yes, is you want BE you have to rent it for a few bucks/month which is bullshit. Every other major GSP it comes with the server ACP already built it. MPGS does have a low price point so I can see why they want to milk a few extra bucks. I don't agree with it. This who auto-restart thing is bullshit and the 0 players thing doesn't work. Our event server has 0 on it a lot and the server never restarts. I get a bunch of different stories from a bunch of different people. Really annoying. I'll keep this thread updated.

Anyone else with MPGS (or any other GSP for that matter) not having the servers restart as set by your auto-restart setting? I've been in a very long ticket (three weeks) with them and getting all different sorts of answers. This is the latest from one of their techs: The current way the auto restart feature works as follows: 1. The server is switched on, AND and player has joined. This then starts the timer, which you would have set on clanforge.2. Once the timer reaches zero, it will attempt to restart the server IF there is no players online. If there is players online, it will wait for them to disconnect first before restarting. 3. If 0 players and the time is at 0, the server will fully restart. The timer will then start counting down again as soon as the first player joins back after the restart What you're asking for is for the server to restart whether it has players on it or not. This requires a re-write of the system in order to implement this option. There were a few issues to begin with on the current system, which was fix. One of these issues was that the auto restart feature was disabled for DayZ due to the developers requesting it to be done differently in a previous build of the game. No idea what this guy is on about some "re-write" as the system always worked as you set the auto-restart time and the dang server restarted when said hours were up. Hicks said in the last build we'll have a 12 hour restart, not a 24 hour restart. We have an event server with very low pop set to 4 hour restarts. Even compared to the ^ claims we're still not getting a restart with a 0 population. Did DayZ really disable the auto-restart feature? Looking for answers as restarting the servers manually is a difficult task.

Hmm, I'm not having a problem. You do realize server admins can set the time of year? Maybe wherever you're playing on has it set to winter months? I have our servers set to current time of year in September and not seeing any debilitating issues.
