Hello there I beleive with the new renderer (and player controller amongst other things) this will enable the devs to tweak the lighting and environ to further enhance the "apocalyptic" feel of the game. A simple "colour overlay" or desatuartion shader, for example, along with some environmental sounds could turn cherno from a sunny holiday spot to a bleak Forbidden Zone. I think the onus so far for the devs is getting the underlying architecture to a point where they can make the game they want rather than on the minutae of the world. I believe as we get closer to release we will see a huge apparent "accelleration" in visible changes and stuff to do. That said, I too think the game needs these tweaks to "lift" the game above the mod (or other A3 mods but Im sure the devs are on to this as well, so dont worry unduly! Keep the ideas coming though! Hello there Im more a fan of psychological horror as what we can imagine in our minds is usually far worse than anything that can be on screen. Which is quite worrying in itself. Id rather have realism integrated into the game than "horror" The "horror" of a real broken leg or deep gash can be very nasty and I'd like folk to think about what happens when they pull the trigger on another person rather than the "bang and fall down" that most films/games portray. Think the final scene in Taxi and how Travis' retribution is far from clean and tidy compared to James Bond clearing a moonbase without a wrinkle in his suit. Humans and animals are hard to kill and fight back if given the chance, Id like to see that more in games to shock folk into what reality actually is. This is just how I feel as Im not sure many really empathise with the pain or feelings of others. That aside, the fear of the unknown and paranoia should be a major driver in the game. Blood and gore for the sake of blood and gore gets old fast. Rgds LoK

Hello there We cannot do anything on how folk want to interprate any info the devs give out. Perhaps the reason they are so cautious is because so many folk have a tendency to misinterprate the said info.Look at how Hick's "hopefully" was taken as a firm timeline. Personally, I wont infer anything from this until we see something concrete. yes, it means *something* is going on but until we know exactly what there's no point "measuring" the devs by any "benchmark" Rgds LoK

Discussion: Would the community at large hound the Devs less if did more low key interactions on the forums?

Hello there Its a really tricky issue and thats probably why I come accross as being so devensive on this *problem*. Yes, communitcation isnt quite how many want or imagine but its hardly poor. Could it be handled "better"? Possibly. Id say differently rather than "better". However, Im also still of the opinion that if Hicks personally delivered daily info, to every user, calligraphied in gold on a parchment of purest Fraggleskin, folk would still complain that something wasnt right and would hound the devs ove some percieved slight. Ok, thats an exaggeration but the point is there. Is it many folk out of the total fanbase that gripe and wail? No, not at all, but they are loud. "An empty can rattles the most etc" IMHO the devs cannot please everyone and some enjoy baiting the devs/us/fans and whipping up controvesy where there is none. See Cangate. Rgds LoK -

Also, tyvm for reminding us that the PAX info *does* indeed need to be here. I shall put it on our lengthy "todo" list :) L -

Hello there I beleive at the time of PAX we had some well publicised issues here which we are still in the process of resolving. Whislt you may have a point that currently there is little PAX info here can you not see the reasoning for that perhaps? Rgds LoK -

Hello there Pure Twaddle. I suggest you stop spouting your nonsense if you wish to remain here. You dont have to be a fan of the Game, the devs or us mods but you are in *our* forum and will beHave appropriately. Lies and/or/slander will not be tolerated. Rgds LoK -

Hello there Extrapolation is a very dangerous way to play with figures and more often than not will have one's face and an an egg in perfect alignment. We have roughly another year to go of development. That's it. Yeah, im sure *something* will happen to push back the date a little, but that happens all the time, but apart from an "act of God", thats roughly when we will see 1.0 And it will be done. It might not have everything *we* want in it or what everyone*expects*, (much like Arma 3) but as has been said (and again like Arma3) suppoert is slated to go on for some time after release where I bet a tonne more stuff is added. I understand how you've come up with your conclusion but the real world just doesnt work like that. Rgds LoK -

Hello there The dev team are damned if they do and are damned if they dont. Even if subsection A of the populace love dev interaction there'll always be those who are not satisfied one way or the other. Note the recent PAX event. Hours of Hicks interviews, folk complained about lack of a SR. Next SR comes along folk complained that text wasnt as good as video. Dont forget the devs are also spread thinly over several interactive medium, from Twitter to the Steam forums to Reddit etc. Plaus anything of import we tend to ensure there's at least a crosspost or link to the relevent info. Note that with the new forums we are still integrating new and old systems to achieve just this end. patience is key. Rgds LoK -

Hello there Unfortunately Early Access games are not for everyone. Ive bough into several and sometimes think "Arrrgh if i had that cash I spent on XYZ game I could buy this finished game ABC now, you silly horse!" So, I do understand people's concern...to a degree... But even though I might kick myself about ocasionally I am aware what im buying into with a game like "Star Citizen" for example (i mention this as it was previously alluded to). I see these games as an "investment" for future playtime. My PC isnt even capable of handling SC yet. The issue I think DAYZ has had is that its been far too playable and folk think that as a mechanic is ingame it can only be impproved on and added to, whereas this really isnt the case. The devs *could* have given us a Mod 2.0 and many of us *would* have been happy but because they are a good team they thought in a larger long term scale and im glad they did, it *will* take time, people *will* stop playing, there *will* be claims of "cash grab","lazy/incompetant devs","Illuminati Lizard base in New Zeland" etc ad nauseum but I bet you come full release folk will be singing a very different song. Will the game be perfect? Probably not, no game is. Will it be epic. I really do think so. And like the Arma series (and especially like A3) DAYZ will continue to improvce over time. So, OP, shoul you loose faith? Well, thats up to you, but I bet you'll be giggling like a giggly thing once the full working game gets into your paws. Rgds LoK -

Hello there I suggest you and Pilgrim both avoid each other for the moment, use the report button if you beleive any abuse is happenning, dont bring disagreements from other threads into this one. Carry on. Rgds LoK

Hello there The 1st vs 3rd PP argument has been done to death and I can see nothing new in this thread to further the debate, so for now I shall close. We mods are back now, if one suspects a troll or any other abuse simply use the report system. Guide new users, let us mods decide whether folk are suitable to remain or not. Rgds LoK

Moved.

Hello there If one has seen or knows of a new exploit/duping method etc etc simply make a private report on the bugtracker. You *are* going to see issues like this throughout development, that's the nature of the beast. Note that dupers are not seen as innocents in our eyes and its not a *safe* activity. Lastly, the devs are aware and are actively combatting this behaviour and will continue to do so. Rgds LoK PS closing as these threads always end up having an active exploit posted and we dont need/want that.

Why? If they have a great mechanic, give us the details. You can also gift me the game if you wish so I can see what you mean :) L

Hello there Dont forget they're not undead rather "infected" with a virus. But, Fire *is* a very primeval thing and I too would like something like this. Think of the Snake scene in the Raiders of the Lost Ark Rdgs LoK

The only thing Ive seen, from the info I have been following from this game, that i rather liked is the weapon customisation screen, and that's not an original idea to this game either. The game does look nice but I dont see what the devs *need* to take notice of. L
-
Again, I still am not sure what you are trying to say. L
-
Im still unaware of your point. L

Hello there What exactly are the devs supposed to "take note" of? They've been aware of the game for a while and we're looking forward to it. Rdgs LoK

UPDATE: FUN FACT: As a child I was once trapped on one of these for many hours. (well, a cable car, but it means I get to bore you with my life story) L

Hello there I *like* the idea of having them working or not. As to the reality of it all, well, Im happy to have some creative licence in the game. But would I ever *risk* going on it? hmmmmmm. Seems a bit of a bullet magnet. FYI in the UK we have a water powered Victorian (over 100 years old) hill tram lift which, although it needs repair and maintenance, is purely water powered due to an ingenious use of weight vs gravity and therefore very resistant to Apocalyptic disasters of DAYZ's ilk. (Not that we have many here) I like it. It adds to the atmosphere and makes one think of things like tourism etc. (Does it precursor some new building types?!? Holiday Camp?) Rgds LoK

Hello there Jut a quick note. Im seeing a bit to much grumpyness within parts of the thread. If someone is being difficult simply report them and ignore them. That said, lets all relax a little, shall we? Rdgs LoK

Hello there Good ideas. I also always thought "farming" infected a long time ago near for lard/bones/leather etc and I still think it would make a great addition although somewhat Macabre. I think that's a bit too dark for the devs though. Rdgs LoK
