Put in Helicopters, Humvee's with grenade launchers, and mounted machine guns
OrLoK replied to over9000nukez's topic in Suggestions
Hello there I see what OP is trying to get at, but I can see the same style of play occurring without the need for military vehicles. I dont have any real issue with soft vehicles and the occasional APC but tanks would be damn hard to keep operable, in fact techicals as mentioned earlier make more sence IMHO. In general one is going to want to use stuff thats easily fixable/repairable and which has parts that are fairly commonly available. Why invest so much time/effort into getting a tank going if a part seizes up and theres nothing near to fix it with? The same goes with helicopters and light aircraft, vast amounts of maintenance goes into those beasts as theyre damn complicated and even if one finds a pilot, whos to say he has the requisite mechanic skills. Im all for struggling to keep civvie vehicles running rather than military ones, for me, it would feel very Arma ish. Rgds LoK -

Hello there This is exactly the type of post i referred too earlier. Read the thread and youll find out why its so emotive. Rdgs LoK

Hello there Oh, I think they will. It may not be exactly what you or I may have envisaged but I do still have faith. Im sure many folk feel "burned out" by the early access which is why I keep my actual playtime to a bare minimum. Whenever I do play it always feels like a quantum leap in progress. In the scheme of things, yeah the Garand may not suit us personally, but its hardly as if they have added mechs, so as long as the gameplay is groovy then ill be happy. Remember, with modding, i guarantee there will be mods to suit your taste, especially as you are obviously not the only one who doesnt "feel" that US weapons apply. Rgds LoK

Agreed. I think what we are seeing here is a kneejerk reaction from the masses who are not really thinking about the mechanics and are just thinking "ewww poop smells!". Its not just about the "solid waste" its about all aspects attached. Many negative posts here are one liners without actually explaining their reasoning against a said system. Perhaps the thread title doesnt help and the focus should be on digestion and disease vectors. Rgds LoK

Hello there Im a fan of having two option to open. One a scroll incremental open and a normal, open and close 100pc setting. Id love to be able to peek through a slightly open door with my shotgun (enormous weapon) ready. Much like I do from inside Steaks cupboard while he sleeps. Im not a fan of the antiquated menu system we have inherited from OFP. Rgds LoK

Hello there I too was a strict "lets keep it Eastern Bloc" advocate, but thats clearly not going to happen. Now, Im not fussed what weapons are in as long as they work something like their reallife counterparts and are well implemented. What I would like is to see weapons that "feel" less cannon (regardless of real world fact) to be rarer. Now "feel" is subjective, so in a nutshell any non Eastern Bloc weapons should just be that little bit rarer IMHO as Id personally like to keep the feel of being in Arma 2's Cherno. As to the 48 inch rubber dildos, well perhaps not. (not in public anyway). I think the devs have their own vision for the game and whilst we all might not agree 100pc with all their directions im fairly sure they wont go mental on us and include utterly outlandish weaponry. I think theres method in their madness. Rgds LoK

Hello there Im an old school Zed style fan also. But whilst being overrun by hordes of zeds slowly but surely would make a wonderful gibfest, I dont think it would do the strain on your PC or server much good. Im not a fan of these runners in such numbers TBH Id like em to be a rare challenge. I can but dream! Rgds LoK

Hello there You cheeky minx, well spotted. As ive been occupied elsewhere this is new to me also. Nice. Rgds LoK

Hello there Kichilron speaks the truth. I would not worry unduely about the leak. Yes, its a pain in the bum but think of my usual analogy, if you have your front door key stolen you change your locks and perhaps buy an alarm system, youre not likely to go "oh well" and just carry on watching telly eating Cheetos. The same mentality applies here. Rgds LoK

Hello there You miss the point. Enabling defection doesn't mean you can poop at will and whack folk over the head with it, or indeed poop on other players. Lady Kyrah has got it 100pc. Rgds LoK

Hello there Firstly, moving to suggestions area. Secondly, I see what you are getting at put DAYZ should be player driven so if you and your friends want to set up a homemade store and barter for items then thats great. Its unlikely there will be any official in game currency though. Rgds LoK

Hello there What one needs to do is find that balance between realism and gameplay. Its nothing to do with maturity. For example, if their proposed system was "fer teh lulz" then I agree, if it adds nothing to a fairly "serious" game then any mechanic should not be included. If however the idea adds a legitimate mechanic to the game then I dont see why it should not be included. Lastly one can extrapolate any idea to the nth degree to make it sound silly. Rgds LoK

Hello there If having a period added something of value to the game then why not? However everyone poops and AFAIK apart from some cases of anphalactic shock and the occasional bear/kangaroo arousal periods dont bring much to the table playwise. I could be wrong. I feel folk are getting hung up on the "ewww thats icky" side of things, whereas blowing a gaping hole in someone or indeed force feeding someone disinfectant is seen as perfectly acceptable. Odd in my mind. Rgds LoK

Hello there Why would animal crap be different to human in your opinion? Rgds LoK

Hello there Some kind of sling shot would be nice. Both improvised and manufactured. Also any choppy stabby things you can make from any scraps/metal/glass etc would also make me a happy camper. Rgds LoK

Hello there Im sure it is doable, but to get it working correctly may not justify the cost or cycle overheads and pure pain in the assness that would ensue from doing it vs the reward of hoodies. They could do it with "Parka's" as any 70s child will tell you those hoods didnt move much with the head especially with the cheap versions me and my mates mums and dads could afford. Literally tunnel vision. Rgds LoK

Hello there Don't forget defecation could be "implied" rather than seen. I'm not advocating extreme close ups and uber hi res, hi poly realism here. (Im sure there's a market for that though). For eg when coming across a water source you could have a menu option to "pollute" it. Press a short fade to grey to simulate the "passing" and hey presto! one damaged water source. Simple. The act is alluded to or implied, the gameplay aspect is there and no one gets all upset. If I can come up with that solution to one aspect in 20 seconds, I'm sure the devs are more than capable of coming up with a more elegant and in depth solution IF they wanted to. Lets NOT worry about the "oh noes! throwing and force feeding dirty dirty poop! Wont someone think of the children!!!11!!?" Aspects. It just wouldnt happen IMHO Rgds LoK

Yes, I am serious. Are you insinuating defecation is only wanted by immature kids? Im 44 and im all for the system being included. As long as its useful and interesting and adds another layer to survival im all for it. I suppose it depends on what folk want. A Survival Game or a Survive the Zeds game. Personally the survival aspect thrills me more than the pure Zed survival. Its great they are a major threat but I see my environment being my main enemy, Zeds are just part of that. I feel folk are mainly not happy as its a taboo subject, much like many were upset about Rust's "Willy-gate". Defecation for most of us isn't that pleasant (unless you have a really good book to read) but in a "no holds barred" scenario I can see it bringing gameplay opportunities to the mix never touched by gamers before (excuse any possible pun). One thing I will agree on, is that its a very definite polarising subject. I doubt we will ever see it in game as it was originally touted though. Rgds LoK
