Yes, completely. But without true consequences there will always be many who like to go all guns blazing. L

If the infected would carry items of their trade on them then why not include specialist items in their loot drop. I just dont want to see programmers drop PC's or construction workers drop metal girders etc. IE Construction Workers: may drop a hard hat, hi vis jacket, ear protection (think of A.C.E. and hearing issues) Police: may drop handcuffs, mags, sidearm, cs/pepper spray, radio/mobile, keys to car/station. Surgeon: may drop stethascope, lab coat, expensive shoes. (unlikely to be carrying any prescription drugs) Fireman: would have to be rare as most are out off full uniform at any given time. Helmet, Fireproof/tough over coat/trouser, axe/crobar. Soldier: (if on duty at time of infection) Mess Kit, Field First aid kit, webbing, canteen, mags. Possible sidearm, blade/bayonet. Just remember not all professions carry round the tools of their trade at all times, so more often than not, you would find little of value. Rgds LoK

Is this not similar to the above 1st vs 3rd thread above? Why should I not lock/merge, please? L

Private in general. *IF* it's properly administered. I still mainly play public though, if I just want a quick 10 minute blast. L

On game design, "progression through equipment", and a system of micro-skills
OrLoK replied to GodOfGrain's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Hello there The problem is with systems like the one proposed above is that lazy folks will always find the simplest/shortest way to "powerlevel" When WoW first came out I had a lot of fun just exploring places I wasn't supposed to reach and going through the missions enjoying the little stories involved in playing them. Once I joined a clan it was all about leveling up as fast as possible and we raced through the environs not paying attention to anything other than XP gain. I felt I missed 90 percent of the actual content and gameplay/interaction. Folk will just do the same if any xp system is involved. I still gave OP beans as I like the forethought he put into his post. L -
Numbers to the left of Side Chat
OrLoK replied to UltimateFlapjack's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Hello there Rather than accuse of "whining" remember that the OP's Q. was on the prefix of the chat and it's meaning. Let's not debase threads down to the level of "l2p" etc. Rgds LoK -
Facebrass may be a pain but would be tolerable in a life/death situation. It's a nice idea and would add a twist to the game especially if one's handedness were random upon spawn. But TBH I think it's a very low priority idea. L

You need to contact the admin of that particular server. If you cannot reach the directly then edit your post or PM me the full server address and I'll edit your title if you can't Rdgs LoK

Hello there On the whole I don't think dismemberment would really add to the game in any real way. If a player loses a limb then most likely they'll be dead soon after anyway. For large explosions (which on the whole would be rare) then it may be appropriate, but again not really needed. Plus if it keeps the German censors happy it's one less issue to worry about. Rgds LoK

Hello there We all have to remember that once anyone hits the internet then they are suddenly expert on all things and can bring up false facts within a click or two. I don't think that in recent times I have been on a gaming forum that does not blame their own anti cheat systems for all the ills in the world. BE, to me, seems to do it's job well Not perfectly, but well. The SA will change things to a degree but if the game is popular, and it most likely will be, then it's going to get hacked. Just not to the level we have seen in the mod. Personally, it's down to a combination of utilites and admins to make life difficult to the prospective cheat. If you are a lazy admin and put your faith in one bit of proprietry software then you will become unstuck. Rgds LoK

Hello there Interesting and well thought out post. I don't agree with many of the ideas but it has sparked some of my own! for eg the look of the noob vs the vet. The vet is damn dirty, has Rocket forgotten his military hygiene instruction? There's a sea and resevoirs. Have a bath! Cut those nails! trim that beard! Gotta avoid disease, no? :) Rgds L -
Bruising from repetitive gun fire.
OrLoK replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Many females are more than capable of operating a firearm safely and efficiently. Do not judge folk by a minor subsection. Especially from youtube. -
A little harsh perhaps? (especially if out of context.)

I am rather whacky and indeed crazy. Some might say bonkers. I prefer zany.

Hello there Rather than an anti game, to me the mod, and hopefully the SA, feel more like games of old (80's-90's) where your game came with a 300 page manual and all sorts of goodies and wasn't a clone of every other game out there. It's simply a game that's not purely made for profit. That's why its a little different. Rgds LoK

Hello there Firstly, agreed on the Stephen King aspect take IT or The Body as good examples. As to the "story" idea, I think it would be a nice "nod" to the arma/a2/ofp community to have the occasional reference thrown in, but it would have to be subtle and not "in your face" These could simply be a graffiti reference to General Guba or a recruitment poster etc. Rgds LoK

It's definitely an interesting watch/read. In my mind The Road is more of a typical apocalyptic "end of the world" itself rather than the possible "end of mankind" in Dayz. Hence working vehicles, structures mainly intact, good to be scavenged, still living farm animals etc. I too would like the Mexican stand off rather than the whose "quickest on the draw" shoot outs we get now. L

I like in game safeties rather than real world ones. It's more to think about but gives that little bit more immersion IMHO.

Millions of wild bitey horses that don't like people. It's not in everyone's repertiore to be a horse trainer and wild horses are BIG scary things. Tame horses can be scary and bitey for that matter. L

The Unforgiven Private Hive Servers, w/ Secret Loot sites & Base Camps
OrLoK replied to RockerJC's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
really? Do you need to constantly bump? -
Hello there Horses come up as a subject here quite often. In "reality" they would be very uncommon (ratio per player) and take a lot of time investment to keep healthy, so In the days "universe" I personally don't think they fit. Most likely they'd end up in Burgers for survivors. L

You're supposed to photoshop dean's face on to something, not just post pics of him at the office.
