Hello there I'd simply (!) port over the maps from Iron Front. All buildings enter-able and they have a real Euro feel to them. Plus, one of the (or *the*) designer is on the DAYZ mapping team. Hello there Id expect modders to have a tricky time at start due to all of the changes, but knowing BI there'll be a fair bit of support and those modders are clever chaps/chapesses. Rgds LoK

Hello there Id like weapons to be buffed if anything. They're lethal things. That's the point of them. Also, the same with melee. A fist fight can *really* damage/incapacitate you, let alone if using an axe/crowbar etc. IMHO combat should be potentially deadly (even after due to infection of wounds) and avoided by both parties if possible. Hello there Ive always been on the side of those who want an SP experience. If one doesnt agree with the game being played in SP then simply do not play that portion of it. It may not be a fully fledged environ tailored towards a full SP experience rather a way to test mods etc with the ability to also be able to play solo. That said, even if resources are used to tweak the game, I very much doubt it will have any noticeable impact on the game's development. This is not the death knell of DAYZ, simply another aspect being added to an already intriguing engine. Lets wait until we get more info on the subject when the guys have a little free time, they are rather busy at the moment. Rgds LoK

Hello there Take this with an enormous taker of salt, not just a pinch, as I say this as a gamer not as a Mod or any other "official"...thing. ...but in an informal chat with Dean, back in the Mod days, he mentioned that he always wanted to greatly expand on and make melee combat viable but this is waaaay back in time before SA etc. So, one can assume it was likely in his mind (with a billion other things) once the mod went "viral" and then the SA. Whether that "dream" was carried through once everything went "official" who knows? It hasnt appeared in the mod AFAIK and melee was always a problem back in A2 mods which attempted it. But knowing the devs and those that surround them (i have web cams everywhere, not just in the loos) I can imagine that a more fulfilling melee has been considered. That and the public tidbits that have been revealed regarding animations etc (look in the dev area) *might* mean that exciting things are to come. Again, I could be wrong. Vastly wrong. But I think we have a lot to look forward to. Rgds LoK

I think things will get a lot better, it might not be 100pc realism but I bet using a weapon in later stages of DAYZ will feel more realistic than most other games. Hello there Id have a random but limited set amount of ammo that would not respawn let me use my mosin as a club/pike etc. Make ammo a rare commodity and many wont be quite so shooty. Rgds LoK

Hello there There is a large disparity between what many players "want" from the game and the game the devs are going to make. Many folk *will* find the SA not to their taste as they probably never played the vanilla game. Those of us who preferred the vanilla over any other mod of the mod will by large appreciate the SA when it's released. All others will have to wait patiently for modding to be opened up. The point being is that the SA will not be Epoch or Origins or any "cool" mod of the mod. Rgds LoK

Hello there TBH there are not that many "is dayz dying threads" Anyone with any small knowledge of the facts knows the status of the game. Whether the game is "popular" at this time is another thing. Hello there That's a very, very scary question. I'll have to say that I cant recommend any particular stuff rather just generalisations. Arma has always been very CPU heavy, but then again although there's lil bits of Arma in DAYZ it's a very different beast and will continue to alter as time goes on. An SSD is always a nice way to speed up some aspects of a system, so if the pennies allow that might be a nice addition (dont forget every thing you add requires output from that pesky PSU!). As far as Im aware Arma likes to stream lots of large textures and info, so one may well see an improvement in DAYZ. Key word here being *may*. Im not a dev. Just a PC user. What im trying to say is perhaps concentrate on getting a good machine for your own end purposes, be it music/gaming/CAD etc as they all require different aspects. Perhaps go after a general gaming rig, as configuring for what DAYZ is *now* may be a faux pas when one sees what is to come. Rdgs LoK
