Hello there I wouldn't expect a door to provide any cover against anything but the lowest powered (think air pistols) weapons. Bullets and bolts are quite "penetratey". If you want cover from the thin metal of a car stand near the engine block. Rgds LoK

not me :) I'm not really in to my PvP in Dayz but it *is* an important aspect. The point being that hopefully it wont be the *only* aspect to the game. Lastly, I still stick to my steering people away from DAYZ and to vanilla Arma2/3 if they want a pure PvP experience. Just as I would point players who wanted a pure flight sim to IL2 for example. hello there check which version you are running and the version of the servers you are trying to join. Not all servers use the latest updates. You may to need to roll back a little. Rgds LoK

Hello there Killing off pvp is not the aim, rather that in giving the player more to "do" the emphasis is less on pvp combat and more on the survival experience as a whole including pvp. If one wants a pure pvp experience, they can just use vanilla Arma or the wasteland mission for example. Rgds LoK

Arma3 Alpha release potential Impact on Dayz Mod/SA

Hello there Like many of you I am rather chuffed to know that in a few days the lite version of the A3 bundle will be available and there'll be some keys given to us by those lucky enoughh to have bought the alpha. But with the release of this goodness will it raise/lower your expectations of the SA? Will playing the mod in A2 feel poor by comparison? Will it have no impact at all? For me, I had always envisaged the SA to be released first, then perhaps 6 months later the community alpha for A3 to be released. Do you think this could take the SA down a route that is closer to A3 than we first imagined? Do you see DAYZ mod quickly ported over to A3? I'd be interested to know your thoughts. I get the impression Rocket's a grump and Matt is his customer facing conduit. They keep Dean in that MC outfit in a lecter-esque holding cell and he churns out bit of scribbled code and ideas on soft paper with crayons for the devs to type in. This is what they told me on a recent visit.

Are you saying it's alive? Perhaps we have created a monster we cannot control! Seriously, (hello there) The game is an interesting one and has a wide appeal, hence the many spin off's. I think it's testament to Arma's openess and modability. I've always had one of the versions of their battlefield sim on my PC since OFP's release that's the only series that has achieved that in my gaming experience with perhaps FoW/MoW almost doing the same. I'm surprised not more companies have followed the "open world" ideal. Then again, pretty corridors are easier/cheaper to build. Rgds LoK

Hello there I know this is a rather long thread so some folk may have missed the fact that the video of the test was hastily thrown together in a very short time and completely unedited. Most showcase videos are shot with a lot of "direction" chatter which is then removed and replaced with normal in game FX in the "dub" at the end of the edit. It's evident that this was originally planned but time obviously did not permit. "Pro" tubers do the same thing. It's rarely "raw" footage. Personally, I'd prefer that the dev's kept in in house rather than source it out to a 3rd party. There'll be enough time to get subs and make some pennies when the alpha is out. Rgds LoK

Hello there It's a little early to judge on colours/saturation etc, especially from a few screen shots. Also, remember the amount of tweaking A2's "shaders" have had? I would not assume everything is set in stone just yet. Rgds LoK
