    Fully Geared Up

If I see someone with a gun and I don't have one; I don't wait around to find out if they'll use it. As for killing on sight, that'll change a lot soon when Experimental hits stable; you shoot a gun anywhere around a town and a small horde of much tougher zombies run right for the sound.

    Blending In - Zombie Mascarade

With the coming of more (and more aggressive zombies) a player could be able to cover themselves in blood and mimic a zombie's movement. Benefits; as long as you are moving slowly and unarmed no zombie will aggro you. Cons: Other players could mistake you as a zombie and kill you, and the moment you run, move fast, the zombies around you will aggro you.

    Experimental Zombie AI 35.115791

A lot of modern street lights are solar powered; gathering power in the day and lighting at night. Maybe these are the new models!

    I've heard troubling rumours...(no helis)

If they implement helicopters with requiring heavy repairs and constant maintenance and a hungry fuel requirement, etc, I think it wouldn't be a bad addition. If the parts are incredibly rare, you wouldn't risk your helicopter flying around trolling people; especially if it can take heavy damage from gunfire and ruin your parts; and the helicopter crashing risks both of your life and the helicopter. In the end, it makes the helicopter a much bigger target than the people shooting at it.

    Zombies respawning on experimental?

They're not spawning from them, but they're attracted to them. There are Zed's lumbering around you often won't notice, and if you fire a gunshot... even if they're 100s of meters away they will come running to your location.

    Chaos!

Wait until the respawning, grouping, more numerous zombies from Experimental hits the stable servers... you'll be spending more ammo on them than you will anyone else. I killed one with a bat, and attracted five more just from the sound of that. I don't think I'd dare use a gun, you'd have every zombie within 1000m come running toward you and you better hope you'd have enough ammo, because they actually hit hard!
  7. I'm a new player. I've been playing on Experimental/Hardcore with a LOT tougher zombies (and a lot more of them in concentrated areas) along with seasoned players... perhaps, gotten grey screened and a bit o' blur twice. It isn't hard to avoid, just stay healthy, and accept that's the consequences if you get injured. This game will punish you for stupidity, aggressiveness, and plain ignorance of your surroundings; and I like it just fine; with greys and blurs and all!
  8. Well, maybe the solustion is to stop hurting yourself. Color fades and blurriness is a result of injury, stop putting yourself in places where you get injured or shot. This is a survival simulator, not a FPS combat game; learn to survive better.

    2 Guns in your back

Sure, but only when there is a "weight" system implemented that tires out your character based on how much and how heavy the gear is you're carrying. If you're carrying 2 guns on your back, with a backpack, that's a lot of awkwardness; needs to be counted for in reduction of aim, run speed, etc.
  10. I found two can openers in one area and I feel like I've struck gold or something! And now, I can open all the beans, with both hands! Sort of...

Experimental servers: A word to the devs

I've been playing almost exclusively on the hardcore experimental servers; getting started was a lot harder than regular! The zombies are way stronger, and there seems to be a lot more of them! At one point, I was surrounded by six zombies just by walking into one small area! There's definitely a lot more "running for your life" when you start!
  12. Meekalew

Not one, but TWO can openers!

I'm considering holding up some new spawn, handcuffing them, forcing a can opener and a can of beans into their inventory, uncuffing them, and running off into the forest giggling like a crazy lunatic. Though, I haven't held anyone up, I think I'd feel bad if I did; even if it was to bequeath a can opener!
  13. I think a lot of the problem is people see DayZ as a "game". But really, DayZ isn't a game, it's what I like to call an "experience sandbox". DayZ is entirely about the experiences you have within the sandbox, and the method it uses to create that sandbox (survival, zombies, etc) can illicit strong emotions from people, both good and bad.

    Why is hardcore so underpopulated?

Majority of players are gutless and fear what they cannot see; that's why they play Regular 3PP.

    Why is hardcore so underpopulated?

I've been playing Hardcore on the Experimental branch, it's way more awesome than Regular/Stable. :D

    Back to Berezino

Play the Hardcore Experimental servers, the zombies will finish you before you find your first gun. ;)

Rain Needs To Be Turned Down.

Why are you even playing a survivalist simulator? This isn't CoD or Battlefield. I think that's the game you're looking for, honey boo boo.

    Third Person Fix

Not that I agree with removing 3PP, personally, I think there's hardcore servers for people who want the 3PP off... but, doing it wouldn't be difficult. 3D engines already cull objects based on what you can or cannot see (they don't render things you can't see to save system resources, etc), so they could just cull the objects in 3PP view based on 1PP and that would work on what the OP was suggesting. That said, it is silly, when you have the option of logging into a Hardcore server and turning off head bobbing. :)

    Night- Heat Vision goggles/Scope

In his defence, I'd say stop being a wimp about playing at night without NVGs, man up and fight in the dark, put a light on your gun and fight like a man. Also, there are 24/7 day time servers, I think that's the "easy mode" you're looking for.

    Log in/out location "ban"

Actually, it would be a great idea not to allow a player to log out and back into high loot / high risk areas and back into the same spot, but there should be an additional preventative measure; increase the log out timer in these specific areas as well, so that to do a normal log out you need be outside the fence of the perimeter. The argument against this is pointless, because if you know you're in an area that has an extended log out timer and will randomly place you outside the area when you log back in... then you already *know* you should not log out there and its a risk you are willingly taking by choice; and you already know you should leave the area before you log out for a normal log out. What these people are really trying to defend is teleporting with a really weak argument for bad mechanics that let players use an unintended teleport exploit by server hopping; I am less than a week new to this game and I already know how ridiculous this "feature" is.

Post your clever joke names for DayZ!

    Post Apocalyptic Olympics 2014.

    My Whiteknight adventure.

Where is this "rock of snipers"? One of my favourite past times in other games is sniper hunting, it could essentially become a past time in this one too. :D
  23. The other day I started DayZ for the first time... looked around a little lost, nearly died of starvation and thirst, and then two guys with guns came up and shot me in the head. So, I re-spawned, took a few moments to get oriented with the game... and now have been alive for about 30 hours; fully hydrated, full stomach, healthy, a back pack full of essentials, a geared up M4, a .45, and a .357 (for backup), and and ammo cannister stocked full of the necessary ammo, just about everything in Pristine condition, and a complete and solid aversion of people, lol. I circle the entire map, south, east, north, and west regularly, and have had some interesting "encounters". From surviving an encounter in the big ship east of Cherno where someone tried hunting me down room by room (at a time when I had no ammo), and have stalked other armed players quietly until I was satisfied they weren't hunting for me. In the middle of the woods out in the middle of nowhere, I bumped into an unarmed guy with a cowboy hat... my gun was drawn and ready, as it always is, but for some reason in DayZ I don't want to be the stone cold killer. DayZ is a very different type of game than I normally play (like Planetside 2), but I really like the contrast and risk/reward in comparison. When I play PS2, there's a lot of killing and being killed, but it doesn't really feel like it matters in the over all scheme of things... in DayZ, every encounter, even if it's just the sight of another person can give you those fight or flight "feels". I don't think any other game has really successfully created the atmosphere and environment that DayZ has... where you can play in an environment, rarely encountering another person, but when you do... it has genuine intensity. Where I am a Planetside player, I'm used to fights where 100s,literally, can be battling over one territory and situational awareness is really key to survival, but those fights are nothing compared to even the slight humanesque encounters of DayZ... even if it's just a passing glance, wondering if this person nearby is going to be friend or foe. I have to say, I found a new home, and I like it! :)
