    Broken legs...

I got caught by the broken leg bug (where if you go in a fire station or walk downstairs, you'll randomly have your legs broken), and thought I was at the end of the road, I didn't have anything to fix my leg with and I was stuck between two sets of stairs, however I used http://www.reddit.com/r/redditrescueforce and filed a request for assistance, 20 mins later I had been rescued, back to full health and could continue my day, would highly recommend and much better than suicide cause you can keep all your stuff and not start back again at ground zero.
  2. Everyone seems to disagree with my playstyle, buts it's what works best, only been playing SA for a few days but played the mod loads, SA sorta requires a different playstyle due to the fact you can't just run to the nearest tiny village and find guns, ammo, food and enough water to last you for days. But anyways, when I've respawned I'll go in a low pop server to gear up, then once fully geared, head down to the coast and switch to a high pop server and take out bandits who are giving Bambi's no chance to get started and occasionally give a newbie a decent bit of low grade loot to get them off to a good start. Still remember when I was truly new to the game and no end of times I couldn't even get off the coasts due to the scores of bandits who were just sat waiting to kill me for no reason which almost put me off the game.
  3. This is just a few questions that I've thought of over the past few days that I'd kinda like help with? - What causes my legs to break when I'm in a fire station picking something up? Don't know if it's just a bug or if I'm doing something wrong. - Can gas stoves actually cook anything yet? - Is it better to travel light or get a massive backpack and gear up? - Why is every single sight for the M4A1 either damaged or badly damaged? Any help is appreciated, I just want some decent advice and answers.

One other person on the server and he killed me

No, I was just on a low-pop server cause it was the only one that wasn't lagging, I didn't even check how many players were in there until I'd joined and thought about where to head off to. I prefer playing on high player servers cause there's increased PvP and interactions, compared to just a couple of Zeds and endless gear, I prefer the challenge of having more players.

    Possible 'story'?

Yeah, I just thought a few things to increase the whole 'zombie apocalypse' feel would be appreciated, fair enough in some houses there is blood stains up the walls and that, and burnt out cars etc, it's just I think walking into towns and seeing piles of dead zombies around military bases, and finding dead Zeds, body bags, mass graves and all that kinda stuff would be better and more realistic. As for missions, like I said, the whole thing that makes DayZ is the fact there is no objectives except survive, which is what I love cause it means you can't complete it and can play through however you like, leading to a game that won't ever 'grow old'.

    Possible 'story'?

True, unless they got subtitled at the bottom of the screen? Or if they were US, ie the US were helping with the rescue efforts?

I always give people a clear warning over direct communication at least 2 times before going into combat, the only other time I'll kill someone is if they've just opened fire on me. Only once shot and killed someone by accident cause they ran through the door at me and my instant reaction was the fire button.

    Possible 'story'?

    That'd actually be pretty great.

    Possible 'story'?

Just a thought I had that I'd not really seen on the forums yet, and before anyone starts thinking by story I mean missions and a campaign kinda thing, I don't. What I mean is that you should be able to find notes, or radio recordings etc, yes, this is kinda inspired by fallout, but I just think it'd add that extra element of realism to the game, such as imagine walking into Elektro or Cherno and finding a pile of dead zombies surrounding a military base, you go in and there's a dead 'hazmat' guy, and there's a note on the desk saying what happened there, or a military telegram ordering an evacuation, or something like that, and the more notes and telegrams and voice recordings you find, you could work out how the outbreak happened, where? When? All those kinda questions you could choose to answer. Just thought it'd add that extra 'realism factor'. Also, on a related topic, a possible idea for when playing hardcore could be getting 'bitten' and slowly seeing your characters stamina & vision become impaired, and you either have to go to one of those kinda hazmat set ups and find and an antidote, or you would just become a zed and attack anyone nearby. Just wondered what people's thoughts would be towards these ideas? I know the fun part of DayZ is there being no real objective other than 'survive', but it'd just give you something to do if you got abit bored once you've got a gun, good amount of ammo and food etc.

One other person on the server and he killed me

Spent all morning travelling from the coast to Stary Sobor cause last night I died from some sorta bug, anyways, got there after two hours of looting and what not, headed to Kamenka and to the nearby military base, I'd scouted the area out for like 20 minutes, so I went into the barracks, was on the floor looking under the bed, next thing you know there's a gunshot swiftly followed by the 'you are dead' message, there was one other person on the server and either he'd been following me for a good long while or stumbled across me by pure chance, either way didn't even use direct communication or anything, and I had no worthy loot, so just a complete waste, it's people like this that just make DayZ incredibly annoying at times.
  11. I got it purely to support the Devs who've put in the work, and the fact that it's going to go up in price as more and more features get added, and the fact that people probably read the whole 'alpha' thing as being unplayable but so far there's only 3 truly annoying bugs which are easy enough to look past.
  12. Cheers! Literally had enough now, got killed last night cause I fell 4ft and somehow died and lost everything, this morning I've just spent two hours running from the coast to the airfield with all the looting inbetween, stepped into a barracks, there were two people on the server, but without warning just got shot in the back of the head and yet again, I'm back at ground zero.
  13. And you are the people that restore my faith in humanity!
  14. Probably those mid-life days, where you and a friend have got just the right amount of gear to feel brave enough to take on a group of heavily-geared bandits at one or the airfields or military bases, and that satisfaction of wiping them out and standing victoriously over your territory, or both of us being handcuffed, stripped of our clothing, fed rotten food and disinfectant and left in the middle of the runway as a warning to any other brave souls.

    Fall damage.

So after another long night on DayZ with my friend looking for improvements etc, one thing I did come across which needs some attention is the damage you receive from falls, cause after about 2 hours of crossing the map, looting, defeating the odd group of bandits, we ended up in a barn looking for a compass, and I fell of the stairs while I was half way up, and upon landing was greeted with the joyous message of 'You are dead', which is just way to annoying, if I'd somehow fallen from the top floor to the bottom then fair enough but a simple 4 meter drop leading to death is stupid, should just be a splint required at the most, so I've now lost pretty much everything apart from what my friend could pick up (which was next to nothing anyway). But yeah, these needs some attention.
