So, this being the apocalypse, the knives will all turn to crap? How many people are going to loot a kitchen for its knives. There's knives everywhere man. Plus, you don't even want some big knife for gutting a deer. You might puncture something and ruin the meat. Get a little knife, make sure it's sharp, and don't puncture the intestines or you'll taint the meat. Listen man, the heart isn't beating, it's not going to spray you. Let's maybe look at something a little more mundane. Say you buy a chicken, and it has all its innards in it. Now, usually the blood is drained, but it's similar. You reach in, grab the guts and heart, and throw it out, or make gravy/stuffing out of it. You're not going to spray your face and body down with guts, and your hands might get dirty, but wash them. Also, laughing and crying is a death sentence. How can you not see that?

What is it with these anthrophagophobists? I'm feeling so triggered. -
Dude, are you a child? You've never prepared poultry or gutted a deer? This isn't rocket science. My character can gut a deer, but not a person? He's not a bloody mess from that. And why should cannibalism be the last resort? It's like saying murder is okay, but god forbid cannibalism. If I shoot somebody, why would I venture off into the woods to look for an animal or spend time scrounging for bland canned beans when I can have tasty tasty fresh meat right here and now? Furthermore, humans have a flavor and texture, unless super old, rather like veal. Would you rather eat a can of beans or some fresh veal? How about a chicken or veal? With the exception of the red deer, it would seem to me that humans would be the tastiest food to be had. And even then, that would only rival human, not necessarily beat it. I do like sirloin and flank steak, and veal does lack the "pungency" if you will, to truly capitalize on these cuts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Seabrook

It was a random mutation speculated to have originated around the early 20th century. It would have died with patient zero if the savages didn't eat his CNS. Learn to google man. And, as stated earlier in my post, some examples of CJD are simply inherited. I cannot stress this enough: prion disease can be resistant to heat, so cooking may or may not make it safe, however, simply avoiding the CNS would eliminate the chance of Kuru (which as stated numerous times is essentially gone, and generally limited to a new guinea) by 100%. The devs need to learn to use google. The skeletal tissue is innervated by the PNS, not the CNS. There is 0% chance of contracting Kuru. My mind is blown. The devs are straying away from the initial path of not forcing certain playstyles and trying to implement karma. Remember how well that bandit skin worked? Hey let's just heal our buddies, and we'll all be heroes herpderp. I'm going to purposefully shoot, incapacitate, and force feed everyone I meet human meat, and I suggest others do the same. Let's make everyone a giggling ninny. -

I just posted this in another thread: There is literally no way to tell a cannibal from a non cannibal irl. Despite what you may have seen in the Book of Eli, the "shakes" ie Kuru, Creutzfeldt-Jakob, etc. is not very common. Some cases of CJD are inherited, and the transmissible varities are often from contaminated medical products. If it is from ingestion (such as Kuru, which was only really found on new guinea, and now nearly gone anyway), this only occurs from eating the CNS. You're eating steaks, not the CNS. There is literally no way to get "the shakes". And why would cannibals be covered in blood? Can't they properly butcher, cook, and eat people like any other civilized person? I think the best way to tell a cannibal apart from a non-cannibal is this: after they shoot you, do they try to eat you? Unique to this thread: Many forms of prion disease are either spontaneous mutations or are genetic. It is a result of the protein adopting wrong folding patterns, while retaining the same primary structure. This being said, in order to make your proteins form to the alternate confirmation, they need to be exposed to the protein. This is not a virus or a bacteria, just a protein causing other proteins to misfold. It is nearly gone is new guinea, and furthermore, we're not in new guinea. Thus, there should be essentially no exposure to the prion. Furthermore, the prion is only ingested (in the truly exceptionally rare case that it is found) if you eat the CNS. We are not eating the CNS. We are not eating the CNS. I cannot stress this enough. We are literally eating steaks. There are far far more common diseases that are far far more easily transmitted than "Kuru". This is not the Book of Eli. There is literally nothing wrong with eating human skeletal meat. The only thing I could find would be psychological damage. But that is highly subjective, and I hate playstyles forced upon us. -

I'd like to see the ability of the engine to accurately depict: penetration, expansion, yawing, and fragmentation. Perhaps even secondary fragmentation caused by hitting bone. The 5.56 and some 7.62 Nato are notorious for fragmenting, which clearly does the more damage than the relatively neater holes the 7.62 rimmed. Btw, the poison bullet stuff is just soviet propaganda.
-
The kuru prion mutated once at the turn of the 20th century on some small island in the pacific. There is simply no way it could have made it to mainland europe, as the only mode of transmission is by eating the CNS. Book of Eli is a lie. Not only would it not exist, if you can just, you know, not eat the CNS, there won't be a problem.

You're allowed to produce personal firearms. Certain states have statutes against "zip guns". Personally I find that racist and like norinco. I'm terrible.

I'd like to see wax in the game, or that spray on stuff. Canvas used to be made from hemp which is already more resistant than cotton. The mail bags are waterproof canvas.

So I would like to make a suggestion of adding the new ammo type, 7.62 tokarev. Now, before I make my argument for this gun, let me address the arguments against this gun. The first is that many of the guns that would be chambered in this round could be chambered in other rounds. My rebuttal to this, is that the 7.62 tokarev is a unique round that is flatter shooting and more deeply penetrating than other rounds, making the performance just not the same. The other argument is there are claims of only a handful of firearms which can use this round. My rebuttal to this is that there are currently only two firearms that can use the .380, currently only two firearms that use the .22lr, and currently only two firearms that use the .357. I'm suggesting in this list 3 firearms, the tt33, the ppsh-41, and the c96. These are historically relevant firearms, which were mass produced and found all over soviet countries (the c96 not so much]. The c96 is a bit of an oddball, but it's been produced for so long commercially, it's found in nearly every country. Now, you might claim the c96 is not meant to handle the higher pressures of the 7.62 tokarev round, and while this is true, I say to you: it'll last longer than boots in experimental. Maybe, it'll give you a reason to use the firearm maintenance kit. Note: there are other guns which use this round like the cz-52, the pps-43. early iterations of the stetchkin, and the px-3, however, I feel, the number of firearms in the game which are implemented is somewhat limited, and the 3 I listed above are the most loved and iconic.

New Ammo Type:7.62 tokarev and the tt33 ppsh41 and the c96

Is anybody on these forums also on the reddit underground? I ask that somebody please make a suggestion there. I saw chris torchia expressed interest in a c96 "red 9", however the 7.62 tok would be a better choice. It might even give us an excuse to use the weapons kit! -

If you could make this multiplayer, and for a mod for a mod of the standalone, this sounds legit as fudge. -
I believe that certain objects in the game should only be able to be damaged from gunfire, and not from zombies. In particular, steel firearms. Magazines are iffy, but certainly a solid steel bodied firearm would not be able to be damaged from a zombie. If I put a tempered steel handgun in my jacket pocket, and you smack me, if you hit hard enough, you'll either break your hand or bruise my ribs. If you're some kind of superman, you'll break my ribs, or break your arms if you keep trying. But I can promise you, you will not damage that firearm. That's why you're able to beat people to death with firearms. You break before they do. But what really takes the cake is when a zombie smacked me and ruined a stone.

Did you not read my original post? The 7.62x25 has unique properties. I already addressed your argument. I started my argument by addressing the rebuttals. "Now, before I make my argument for this gun, let me address the arguments against this gun. " And alexi, it doesn't matter if it's only 5 or 7 guns. Each ammo type now already only has like 2 guns for it, except for the 9x19. Please, read my original arguments people. -

Not to go off topic, but the nagant can use .32 s&w, and .32 auto with a special cylinder. seeing as the makarov uses the .380 version, instead of the usual 9x18, if they were to include the revolver, that would be the way to go, as the .32 would allow pocket pistols and the skorpion. I think if the ammo spawn rate was upped a bit, we'd have no problem. Even as it is, I have no problem. -
If the tolerances are loose and the steel is tempered right, I'd wager an AK will fire off more rounds without a hitch than any revolver. We're talking in the thousands. Same for many handguns. This isn't the early 20th century. A good automatic handgun isn't your standard 1911 anymore. I'd put my money on the cz any day.

In real life, you sway. I know I sure do. Let me tell you what they told my father: trust your wobble. However, in real life, I won't hesitate to rest my gun on anything I can find, including a tree, or a doorframe. Really anything I can rest my hand on. My father does this neat trick with a sling I can't make heads or tails of where he wraps it all tight around his forearm.

Can we stop this instant-ruined-everything stuff?
agouti replied to over9000nukez's topic in General Discussion
I feel certain items shouldn't be degraded from zombies, period, only bullets. For instance if I say a steel handgun, there is nothing you can do, aside from throwing it to the ground to break it. If you punch me while I have it in my shirt pocket, you'll either break your hand or bruise my rib, but that gun will be left unscathed. -

The cz527 fires the m43 round, it's not a long distance round. At all. some mn 91/30s are accurate, due to chance, claimed to be snipers. Finnish ones are more accurate. Closest to a sniper rifle in the game is the blaze.

The m1 carbine fires a catridge in between the power of a .357 magnum (from a pistol, not a rifle] and a 7.62x39. It used to be common (militarily] until the proliferation of the assault rifle. I can't see why it'd be common when clearly superior rifles were around, but maybe in the apocalypse everybody took the AKs, seeing as they're so rare now. Terminal boy, you seem to be a debbie downer. Nobody uses 21st century rail systems on it, you're not funny, and you british have this irrational hatred of guns. m1 carbines are somewhat common in the Us and can be had for as much as a GOOD ak. I've actually been hankering for a good semi auto carbine in the game that's not an AK or an AR, and has a proper detachable mag. The winchester .351 can be converted to fire .357 ammo, maybe this would make a better option? Or just make the m1 carbine use .357, whatever. I'd love it. -
Yes, I beat an animal to death. It was a pig or deer. It's actually a red deer, which is closely related to the american elk.

Both 5.56 and the 7.62x39 are considered intermediate power cartridges. The .30-30 is most easily compared to a 7.62x39. Also, in .45 acp, the a stands for automatic. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Semi-automatic_pistol Check out also known as.
