    Crafting with books

There should be no books on firearm cleaning. It's so simple a caveman could do it. You put a copper solvent on a brush (attachment), scrape it through the barrel, and then a rag also soaked in solvent. Repeat as necessary.
  2. I think only the AK-74, Ak-74su, and the AK-101 should have side rails. To mount an optic on an SKS, an AKM, or an AK, you should need to fabricate a side rail from appropriate steel at a sweat shot. Or steel a siderail using a punch from one of the above mentioned guns. You'll need to power the generators from gasoline with car batteries and harvest steel from appropriate sources (if you're making one). It should be quite an undertaking! But then we should be able to make brackets and mounts for every gun this way. Of course, you should need an original stolen siderail to reverse engineer.

    Fire Weapons

Homemade flamethrowers aren't hard to make, and are even legal in the US. That's right, flamethrowers are legal here. The biggest danger in a flamethrower is not actually catching people on fire, but using up all of the oxygen in a bunker. They're used to clear bunkers. If they did implement flamethrowers, we'd need to be able to suffocate people with them, or there wouldn't be a point.

    special rounds for shotguns

The US military uses flechette rounds in the Carl Gustav recoilless rifle. There's a rumor that they coat them in anti-coagulant. I think this is false, as it would be in violation of international law. Alternatively, the chemical markers on them, could work as such as a side effect. All of that aside, imagine if we could apply heparin to flechette rounds.
  5. I would love to see the luger in game. Both the p38 and the luger are very very accurate.

    FN 49 - Fabrique Nationale Model 1949

But that is one of the only ones that takes 7.62x51. Others take mauser rounds or the .30-06.

    A new breed of bandits

Just the other day I saw someone. Woa man! Then I opened fire. I constantly scream at people if they startle me or have the upper hand. Good rule of thumb, if you see someone in dayz, shoot them. Asking questions? Talking? That sounds like something food would do.

    The Soviet PPŠ-41 SMG

Now we all we need to bug Chris Torchia to make it so. If we all e-mail him, we might get a response. Eugene too. :D What is the best way to contact them? E-mail? Twitter? Reddit?

    The Soviet PPŠ-41 SMG

I used to have a .410. Wasn't much useful for anything. A novelty piece. I'd rather the .30-06 in place of the 7mm magnum. More guns guns that use it. Why no .50 BMG or 14.5? We need anti-material rifles for vehicles.
  10. Dude, the px-3 is a pretty sweet gun, that norinco sig knock-off. I'm pretty butt-hurt clinton stopped firearms importations with the chinese due to hur dur "human rights violations", yet then made it so they no longer needed to renew a particular contract every year to keep on importing everything else. Else we'd get all sorts of sweet stuff from china. There's only 2 guns for the .357, only 2 guns for the 12 gauge (and variants), only 2 guns for the 5.45x39. But the TT-33 and the PPSH-41 would be real neato (PPS-43 would be icing on the cake, and cz-52 would be nice for variety). I'd still like to make a case for the c96, simply because, as I've said: #1 there are repair kits #2 you'll probably be long dead before it can ever wear out #3 throwing a pistol off a room doesn't damage it, but jumping off a room with the pistol in your pockets does Chernarus clearly takes place on an alternate plane of reality where the laws of physics are very different from our own. P.S. The PPSH-41 is still found with militia groups. Say you were in a country that was at or just in a civil war, you'd be likely to find them. Like Chernarus.

    The Soviet PPŠ-41 SMG

In a post soviet country, no 7.62x25 is unthinkable. That being said, I do love the .45 acp, and use that for most general purpose handgun work. But while we're on that subject, I'd also like to see a .357 coonan. A man can dream eh? But seriously, the 7.62x25 is quite useful in its ability to penetrate. This isn't just self defense scenarios where you fight someone off as is reasonable according to the law. But you'll actually give chase, and keep firing, even if they hide behind things. This is where the 7.62x25 really shines. Of course, they might hide behind things in the beginning of the firefight. Also, a PPSH where you can just hose somebody down with 71 rounds is truly magnificent. Have you played red orchestra chaingun? The combat mechanics are brutal. People often die from a single shot, but might take a bit to bleed out. They can still sorta return fire in this state. With 71 rounds, you can rest assured they die instantly.

Barrels are press and pinned or threaded generally. Barrels are not quick-change, generally. Except for certain MGs designed for this to be so, and for some reason the kp-31. Plus you have to get the headspacing right, and other factors. However, handgun barrels are often easily replaced, and some all you need is a new barrel or slide to fire another caliber.

Let me once again praise the 7.62x25 round, as I have clearly not done that enough. Adequate penetration I say! 1500-1800 fps bullets! Also, dayz is not let's play in the woods! Dayz, imo, is stalker mmo without anomalies and mutants, but with crafting! On second thought, why isn't stalker an mmo?
  14. But the original TT33 has such sexier grip slides. The new ones have those lame slanted parallel (to each other) cuts, but the older ones have those crazy alternations of perpendicular (to the slide) cuts and pointed ovals. Much finer craftmanship.
  15. I'm a broken record here. I've been saying for months we need 7.62x25 tokarev. People give me crap saying only a few guns will chamber it, but as of now, you only have 1-3, the mean and mode being 2, guns that use the given bullets anyway! I think the PPSH, the TT33, and the PPS-43 would make fine additions to this game. Also the Mauser C96. That's 4 guns that use one ammo, which is more than is already in game! Why? Unique properties relating to penetrating, especially involving vests, cover, and vehicles. The FBI in the 1980s conducted a study to examine the lethality of handgun rounds. The major factor was not enough penetration. The 7.62x25 tokarev has adequate penetration.
  16. I think its hilarious that to so many people "survival" means going in the woods to play bear grylls, forsaking most modern technology, and becoming some sort of luddite. This is insane and counterproductive to me. Survival to me, means simply not dying. More fun thoughts: accuracy is relevant. The mosin is accurate enough but is by no means a sub-moa rifle. I own one. It only shoots right with the bayonet on. Quite silly. More fun thoughts about the mosin: the action is tolerable, with new modern made barrels, trigger groups, and detachable magazines, you can make a modern quite accurate rifle from one. Also: the finnish mosin is NOT the russian mosin! It is superior. I feel the barracks should have more rifles, most hits with a mosin should be lethal, hell most hits with any rifle cartridge should be lethal, even the m4, and the m4 and AK should be effective even at 300 meters.
  17. But oh baby am I a fan of the original m16. The three pronged barrel, tear drop forward assist, and 1:9 barrel twist for more trumbly and fragmenty rounds is just dead sexy. Not to mention its firemods are safe, semi, and rock n' roll. 3rd burst forces me to make 3 shots when I want to make only one, or only 3 when I want 10.

    Aksu-74 should spawn at BMP

Title pretty much says it all. Tankers and the like should be using carbines, with mags, not full size "battle... W/e the sks is". Tanker helmets should also spawn there.

1911 could be so much more

No. I don't even know to what you're referring. Some states out east have goofy laws, like new york. But where I live there's no restrictions like that. And this particular gun is made in Canada. Canada also has silly laws, but I don't know what they are as I don't live there. Something about 5 round rifle mags, and I don't know the pistol laws. As far as twin barreled pistols, this is bad and you should feel bad.

The p14 is a 1911, except it has a proper feed ramp, a supported chamber, and other mods to make the 1911 more reliable. Not to mention a 14 round magazine. This to me is the epitome of what a 1911 can and should be. Crisp single action (tsk tsk fnx) and 14 rounds of .45 acp. The supported chamber allows for hotter loads as well.
  22. The remington 700, the earlier models, were 10x better. That functions. It's not full auto. Also, if that's the particular SKS I'm thinking of, it's chambered in 7.62x25 tokarev, or maybe that was a different one. Regardless, it (or they, if it's two different ones) was made by this guy on the sksboards. Come check it out sometime for crazy SKS mods. In particular, check out xtriggerman, he does very interesting new things with the sks. In regards to the one I'm thinking of, I haven't seen too many wire folded SKSes with a suppressor (or was it a mock suppressor?), so therefore, it probably is the one I'm thinking of, which leads us to: By the way, where did you find that picture? That was grouster's personal gun. Very famous on the boards. Is it for sale? I'm very interested.

An assault rifle needs to selective fire, and a battle rifle fires a full size rifle cartidge. The Sks is its own crazy thing. I think we should create a new category called battle carbine to which we add all intermediate cartridge non select fire rifles. Population sks, m1 carbine, mini 14/30, and all military pattern autoloaders. I should note as a biologist, everything must be systematized.

If nothing else I'd like to see a p14 frame swap out, and maybe let the thing just take fnx mags (instead of irl p14 mags)
  25. We're not in new guinea, we're not eating the CNS, kuru shouldn't be in the game. Too much book of Eli. If you want to add a disease for cannibalism why not go all out? After eating enough people, you become really strong, can climb walls, and move really fast. Only heart shots or decapitation can kill you. However, the sunlight is blinding unless you wear sunglasses or a hat, if not both. Now that'd make an interesting game.
