  1. Marijke responded to a similar question a few posts above. Basically you can ask some people on the teamspeak or post a topic on the TMW trading forum. One item thats almost always in demand is blood test kits since they're so rare, saline and morphine are also good , if a bit more common.

    What are the odds?

Just to clarify some things... 1: the way he phrased it I think he meant the first part of the post as an entirely different situation separate from the following part. 2: why would you need to kill a handcuffed guy for his gear? You can access the inventory of handcuffed players. You could have just took all that you wanted and then placed whatever might be a threat to you on his friends body and then hid the body.

    Another thread about looking friendly

I was wearing the perfect little "friendly dress" recently. Tan tactical shirt, beige cargo pants, hard hat, purple backpack, pink shoes, pick axe, shotgun.. Basically a calming inconspicuous tan along with some girly colored accessories ... Still got shot at by two people while fighting zombies. *story time in spoilers* As for the backpack, I imagine with the improvised backpack that some newbies might kill you for it or want to ask you how you got it, and some more experienced players may be wary of you since they know you aren't some newb that just started playing today.... Though that might also make them think you're more level headed and into the experience of the game... I dunno it's a risk either way. I know one friendly player who said he just drops his back pack and runs away if he ever comes across someone that just try's to kill him. I mean you can get new stuff, and it should distract the greedy bandits enough to keep you alive... Maybe even leave some funny/friendly notes In your backpack for when you do this. Of course this doesn't really work for snipers though that shoot you before you can even respond, but people like that tend to not care what you're wearing.

    What do now?

Hilariously enough, I recently came across a north map and a south map just sitting side by side on a desk in a police station... Instant map right there, end quest! :-DAlso just randomly came across a Pristine press vest and then a pristine riders jacket in experimental before they took the servers down.
  5. Awwww no ones ever called my black lady character "baby girl" all I get called is b****, and n*****. Which brings an interesting point; no one except for the trolls has ever assumed that I am black or a woman which means they're either psychopaths who are trying to distance themselves from the fact that they're being an ass to real people, or they're really immersed in the game and are treating it as reality.... Or you know just trolls being trolls. Most likely it's the last one, but you know it's all about perspective. As for the rape thing... Unfortunately you see these kind of jokes all the time. Rape is a serious issue, but people often often joke about serious issues to cope or to seem edgy. Additionally rape in some form or another is a somewhat common fantasy, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as it remains a fantasy between consenting adults. So yeah, people are going to do weird shit no matter what... DayZ just provides a lot of masochistic and sadistic gameplay tools so you see it a lot more then you would in say a random shooter. Just wait until they allow you to handcuff yourself; you'll see a lot of handcuffed people begging to be punished. And just imagine the mods.....

Dayz players evolving together with the game

Well the lack of KoS topics could have something to do with the pinned topic on the subject... Though I imagine the moderators still have to merge a lot of topics into it.

Can somone please kill me in Berenzino?

You could always get a medic to help you: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/160262-need-medical-assistance-in-dayz-sa-find-your-medic-here/ Their teamspeak is usually the best way to get help. It shouldn't take too long to get help from them since that is fairly well trafficked area.

    UN helmet

So, the UN beret would be super friendly? I don't know... For me the way to tell if someone is friendly is if they choose style over functionality. The people wearing wool coats, cargo jeans, and berets when they COULD feasibly be a fully kitted GI Joe. And berets are a great example of this because they're fairly rare (spawns at military basses and sometimes barns) and they're completely useless.
  9. Phoenix777

The story of the house that moved.

If anything it'd be the "disappearing house." There's three in the area. One by the fire station, one behind the supermarket, and one at the outskirts of town by a barn. At least there were always three when I looted it.

    Call Out SheepDog402

Steam search of "sheepdog" could have easily resolved this little feud in private.
  11. Phoenix777

Someone please kill me broken leg, stuck inside a house

Hmm... Solnichny Factory? (alt picture) map any of that look familiar? The blue house should be a medic outpost which has a decent chance of having morphine. How are you stuck? Also you could try calling a medic group.. try the teamspeak at: ts.tmwdayz.com

    WTB Handcuffs keys

If you don't mind waiting a bit you could try here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/186814-sunnyrayz-sunshine-stockhold/ I'm helping him change up the format, so the topic should be updated tonight and he'll be on to help you. He does have 1 key listed in his trading stock, and he's been helping out TMW for a few weeks so it'd be a bit safer than dealing with a random. Just another option to consider... I would help you but I currently don't have any keys.
  13. I just tried experimental last night and noticed this as well, doesn't bother me much since I'm too anxious to speak like 90% of the time. It's weird though, because the server had like 40-50 people in it, but from solnichny, to berenzino, to Svetlojarsk, to "yephar nonrha" I only came across like 6 guys... Did they add the west coast spawns back in with experimental, or what? Lets see. Saw 2 guys from the solnichny factory. One never saw me, the other just ran from me until we reached the next village where I lost him. One guy killed by a zombie north west of the berenzino construction site, and one guy by the school flipping off a zombie as it killed him. The next three guys were at the school, the berenzino PD, and the Svetlojarsk PD. I broke all their legs with 2 shotgun blasts because they attacked me on site. ( the shotgun is very good at this I've found out. It's a great pacifier for KoS people that don't yet have guns) the first guy said hello(voice chat) and immediately attacked. He died before I could do anything for him. The second guy asked me to kill him after I broke his legs (text chat) and then apologized when I dropped some morphine, rags, and a canteen for him. I told him it was no problem, he gave me some rice and we went our deprecate ways Before Svetlojarsk I met a new spawn in berenzino sitting watching the sunset. He got up and left after a little bit saying nothing. The Svetlojarsk guy said nothing even after breaking his legs. I had no morphine so I offered to kill him, but he still said nothing, just kept trying to box me in to the small medic outpost. I axed him once, he began to bleed and the server reset so it probably didn't go through. Hopefully he found some morphine on the next server. After rejoining the server I found an excited man proclaiming that there was a crossbow in the police station(voice chat) after I found it he disappeared. The last guy I saw entering a barn so I rushed up on him. We text chatted "hello" and then traded. He gave me a bolt and wanted 22 ammo, but I had none. I said thanks and we went our separate ways. So overall it was 3 hostile ( one possibly out of fear) 2 friendly And 2 possibly scared With 1 friendly voice 1 hostile voice 1 friendly text 1 hostile mute And 2 neutral/scared mutes. It's not even like I was running from place to place. The last two guys had guns so I didn't try to stick around or find them, but the rest of them I tried to find after they wandered off or ran away. I even ran around berenzino a few times hoping for some more interactions. Maybe it's some kind of odd niche. The COD 12 year olds can't figure out how to do experimental, the serious DayZ vetrens don't want to risk wasting their time losing everything to stupid bugs on experimental( or they have a bunch a friends they play with on stable.) So experimental is for all the geeky technical anti social people who want to find bugs.
  14. Best to find a safe place, log out and go to the TMW team speak at: ts.tmwdayz.com from there they can start heading your way. if you go unconscious though don't log out. logging out while unconscious will kill you

    Random people I met!

Well if it was a small server you may be able to find them under " recent players" in steam.
  16. Phoenix777

Lord Calagious and his mute friend Girddy

hmm I must have missed that part, and the part about "killing them all"Considering he called them fresh spawns, I'm guessing they weren't that well equipped, so two army men could still have a psychological effect on a bunch of rag-tag freshies with bats and garden hoes. They could have also thought you were one of those "bandit cults" that hold people up and force them to do some arbitrary thing ( take off their pants most of the time ) to join the group. After a while everyone assumes that it's a group of 11 friends rushing up on them when really it's two friends and 9 strangers forced into the "cult" through a silly initiation. It's mostly harmless though since most people are just happy for the experience. Anyway.... Most likely it was just an excuse to KOS. like using someone's voice, age, nationality, or player model as an excuse to KOS

    HELP

I've heard certain rocks are bugged and cause you break your legs or fly off and die. Also stairs and ladders can be pretty risky, always walk on stairs. Now when you die or go unconscious you should be able to press escape and then select "respawn." Sometimes the respawn freezes for me too, but exiting the server and rejoining fixes it. The bug where broken legs were fixed by logging out has been fixed, so no luck there. Also, next time you break your legs or need any kind of medical help check the pinned topic on this forum. They can help you and will provide you with any information you need on the medical system or precautions to take.

Lord Calagious and his mute friend Girddy

Well, did they kill everyone, or just you two? What did the fresh spawns say to them? I mean it could well be that it looked like you had a trail of prisoners you were forcing to sing under threat of death, broken legs, torture.
  19. Uh, I once slid through the wall and fell outside the building when I crouched next to the bunks once... Fortunately I didn't do anything to me. Most likely it's an animation bug, sometimes the animations make you move in a way that maybe the game normally wouldn't allow you to and thus you clip through buildings.

    why do YOU play DayZ?

To scavenge for items... I have a minor packrat/ hoarding problem To explore the world ( still fairly new to the game, and they are occasionally adding new stuff.) To help people ( just cause I'm a nice guy, and it helps keep me from walking around with a full inventory with nothing to do with it.) To have fun and tense situations with others. ( I don't play on full servers that often and I usually avoid major cities, so I'm still at that stage where every time I see someone or hear a gunshot it sends me into instant panic mode, plus it's always great to see that panic relieved when the guy you see isn't an ass) To work on talking to people. ( main reason for the panic mentioned above is probably an innate social phobia. In some ways friendly players scare me more than KOSers. Lol) -------------------- I do agree though, that some kind of story or goal would be cool, though it could take away from the openness, free, roleplay, sandbox aspects if done wrong. For me, some more unique buildings, notes, graffiti, dead bodies in interesting positions, etc. would be enough. However.... There's only so much they can do with the ARMA assests, and server load restrictions.
  21. First off you want to log out, because in the time it takes to contact someone, and for them to get to you anything can happen. So find a safe place to log out first, and do that.If there's a status effect in your inventory screen saying "sick" you'll likely need charcoal tablets ( antibiotics don't do anything yet) but it depends on how you got sick. The gray screen is due to a lack of blood. On the first post of this topic you'll find a link to TMW's website and teamspeak. Your best bet is to go on their teamspeak and join a help needed channel. If no one responds after a while you can try asking in the open channels or poking people with the TMW tags. Once you get ahold of one of them they can help you out and give some more detailed advice.

    Sneaky server update! (confirmed)

It was actually a 1 hr reset server. :P I think the admin may have been on purposely reseting it though, because it didn't always seem like an hour had passed.

    Sneaky server update! (confirmed)

I wonder if this tweaked existing spawns too. I mean I had checked the NE fire station about 6+ times looking for protective cases. Each time the fire station was untouched, but no cases to be found. Yesterday I logged on real quick, checked it and found 2 cases just sitting there. Maybe I just got lucky though.

    Sneaky server update! (confirmed)

Who wants to bet there's a character wipe coming up wherein they add loot respawn and make things like: axes, M4, mosins, and weapon attachments very, very rare. To me at least that would be the way to go. Let people have their fun with all the new loot locations, collect everything to become the ultimate badass, and the BAM! Remind people this is DayZ, not COD. I mean I'm all for more exploration, but not instant gratification. I mean hopefully they'll eventually have enough item diversity that you can always find something interesting in places, even if its not "teh leet military gears!!!!" Personally what I'd like to see is a degree of randomness to it, like... Maybe one or two military grade weapons per military base, fire stations for fire axes and protective gear, police stations for basic low power pistols, and maybe a shotgun. The catch however, would be that there's always a very small chance that say... The police had some contraband weapons, or there's a vest or assault rifle. For military it'd be stuff like heavy artillery, LMG, helicopter parts, and there'd always be a very small chance of houses having their personal hunting rifle or pistol. Something to make the world seem more alive like: " okay, so the guy in this house must have been a hunter" " oh wow, I can't believe this rifle wasn't looted from the PD when things first hit the fan" "Looks like this helicopter was transporting an infected and it must have attacked them mid flight." I mean right now there's just so much high quality gear just all over that it feels very gamey; when finally finding that epic loot should feel like an experience worthy of a grand story... Not just: "Oh look! ANOTHER infrared scoped SVD rifle."

    Would you shoot me...

Does anyone else, just not care about camo? I mean the most I will usually do is wear a green backpack, or wear camo if I haven't found anything that looks good yet. I usually go for blues, grays, and sometimes reds. I'll do other colors too if it meshes well with what I have, but I rarely do TTsKO or hunter pants. I don't know, to me it seems like if someone is near me they're going to see me regardless, so I might as well dress in appropriate "casual medic/friendly" clothes to suit my play style. Unless you're hiding in grass trying to counter snipe they're likely going to see or hear you running anyway; so I don't really see the point..... Not to mention Camo stands out more in the cities. As far as head gear goes, I have a UN helmet and a respirator, no glasses. So as far as protection goes I may as well be as protected as a camo guy anyway. (military jackets don't have extra protection do they?) The only real conundrum for me is storage space... I have a UK vest for storage, and the extra room in TTsKO jackets sometimes tempts me into wearing them, hopefully we will be able to dye/spray paint everything in the future, that way we can get some more diverse load outs and we don't have to be GI Joe just because we're a packrat.( possibly at the cost of condition degradation.) For masks, what I look forward too is more character customization: different haircuts, scars, tattoos, facial hair, facial structures, etc. This way masks will become a much bigger factor; seeing someone's face will let you know who you're dealing with and they can't try to trick you or come back after you kill them pretending to be an innocent new spawn.... I still want to see a video of someone taking potshots at people , running away, changing clothes, and making friends with the same people they just shot at; I think it would be hilarious. I mean Alchestbreach kind of did it with someone where they both died and met up as new spawns, not realizing they had killed each other until the very end, but that was unintentional. What I want to see is some more really fun and creative bandits, instead of this KoS, force feed, "weapons test" stuff. which is getting kind of old.
