Don't tents last forever? I would suspect the same of a landmine guarding that tent

Does fish netting still only spawn on the coastal boats?
randomspawn replied to 97ADU Doug's topic in General Discussion
Found m4 three days back. Found mp5 and ak74 last night. Its easier with preset chopper crashes, police stations and wrecked jeeps. I got too many guns, but keeping hydrated is tedious. I haven't found a tent since they fixed persistence. -
.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.
randomspawn replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
I'm not a fan of the current loot system, but like most games, it's easy to recognize patterns and I have a pretty cool loot route that has gotten me some nice stuff. I have my first land-mine, but I haven't set it yet. That should be fun...I like the grenades and M4 and all that jazz. I do avoid the coast though. Middle of the map works, with short trips up to old hot zones. They aren't that hot nowadays. -
For Everyone Complaining About The Loot........

I think the devs wanna hear both sides, and from those in the middle too. I don't want 'more options', unless they are well thought out ideas. I am still not liking farming, as growing food in 15min from seeds just feels silly. Hunting is okay, but in reality, you often hunt for days or weeks before a kill happens. I used to fish in WOW, and I don't see myself doing it here. Cannibalism sounds better to me. Its a game of balance though. That is why they slow down apple picking and speed up farming. -
Variation of Buildings has lost their sense
randomspawn replied to Syrell's topic in General Discussion
Too early to make final judgments, but I have been to a lot of bases, and haven't seen anything close to a gun on a base. Maybe I had bad luck, maybe that's the ultimate goal. I don't really like it, but I have found some different areas with guns and lootz, so I am hanging there. I just need to find a tent or two to replace those lost last week. -
For Everyone Complaining About The Loot........
randomspawn replied to Bush_Wookieing_101's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, not sure why people have such a hard time believing lots of experienced players, who said loot was broken. I saw first hand how broken the system was, where entire military bases didn't have a single piece of loot, except on the porch of the little checkpoint place, and this was on fresh servers after multiple resets. Some choppers have no loot around them, and others have tons. It's very hit or miss. I'm logging on now to check the update. -
I don't think that is it at all. On military bases, there is basically nothing, and i mean nothing worthwhile. If you take out hotzones, there is a risk that the game turns into the dreaded farming and fruit picking simulator. I stopped last night, and grew some veggies. Let me say, I won't do it again. It was absolutely horrible. Is it viable for some? Yes. But I doubt it is going to be fun for most, especially after they have done it over and over. I don't really care about that though. I'm excited again because the dev's have made multiple extensive changes to the game. This is the first time for that since release, imo. Whether everything is right at .55 doesn't matter to me. It's exciting to see them making progress. They will test the game themselves, take what feedback we give, and combine it with an overall, and final vision. It's got potential, the first real bit I've seen in months. Well done DayZ. And we don't have to worry about guys wanting to enjoy PVP or finding loot patterns. It's gonna happen, due to financial reasons. They have sold a lot of games already, but if it becomes an 'anti-pvp' game, it won't sell many more.

From what I've seen across about 10 servers is a total lack of military gear in military bases. Choppers spawn it consistently though. When the patch dropped, mp5 weapons And cr75 clips magazines were all over police stations. Now, I can't find either.

randomspawn replied to billyangstadt's topic in General Discussion
Actually, an 'officers' area would be the same rules. Items typically carried by officers appear in greater likelihood around their quarters. It fits the system perfectly. Your example with pain killers seemed a bit off. If you are talking home medicine, it should be random across regular homes. If it's IV kits and blood bags, it should have a higher chance at a hospital. While we talk realism, we also know veggies can't be grown from seed in 15 minutes, but planting a veggie garden and keeping it persistent for 4 months to get 10 pumpkins seems a bit absurd. We allow certain 'un-real' type scenarios for better gameplay. Finding a sword around a boat dock, and finding a fishing net at a devils castle makes zero sense. Yes, cars might change the dynamic some, but it is just an 'assumption' really. The virus might have been very instant, and the infected were all at full sickness in just a few hours from the release of the contagion. We have no idea if it started with 1 person, or was a biological weapon. I don't want instant M4's and AK's at military bases, but I would like a higher chance than at a police station, where I want to find a higher chance of MP5. -

I suspect that while we can imagine a whole lot of different scenarios, I think this particular issue is a statistician's dream. Basically, using a sliding scale, you can place military loot with a higher percentage at military locations, and the further away from the base, the less likely you are to see military loot. The same applies for medical loot and hospitals, and things like fire fighter and police gear. The further away from the stations, the less likely to find loot. I think that would be the most logical way, as it would seem the most likely in an actual event. -
I think we have seen enough experienced posters to suspect that loot is basically gone on some servers. Then again, some people said persistence was working fine too...

Yep, a lot of items are rare. It is a lot easier to find new shirts than to find a sewing kit to repair. Matches are indeed rare, and I am having a heck of a time finding shotgun shells. But I have found lots of shotguns. I might start trying to stack shotguns, and throwing them at enemies instead.

killed by zombie while i was waiting for timer
randomspawn replied to BroskyBro's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, it stinks. My ISP is having 'issues' at the moment, and I lost connection about every 20-30 min, just long enough to get booted from server. It will be nice when my ISP gets reliability back. -
Tents have now become more important than ever
randomspawn replied to nudelwalker's topic in General Discussion
Logged in last night and my tent and it's goodies were gone. I guess it's always possible that someone wandered into the forest and found it, but it is very hard to know if you got discovered, or you got glitched. I wish there was a way to know for sure. -
I think this is the key for me. I see what has happened, and I expect a whole heck of a lot of changes between now and beta release in 2019, or whenever it gets released. The game is about 25% done. I don't expect a final opinion until I see it near full release. I have played, taken long breaks, and played again. I expect that cycle to continue for many more months.
-
Well, lots of issues here. For 16 months this was a PvP game, as pve was too easy to take seriously. Now, pve is a lot more challenging. I think most people have no desire for dayz farming, and only a few have a desire for pig and cow hunting. They might tolerate it, but it is mostly a time sink that will be required for PvP to continue. This patch almost 100% flips the focus of the game. I expect a lot of posts complaining, and I know the developers appreciate the feedback. Hooray for finally seeing progress on real mechanics. Let's hope we see such gains on future patches.

Loot is extremenly broken at the moment

if you stay away from people and zeds, what do you do? Log in and watch pixels? -
They have said that all along. Of course, when they released the game 16 months ago, it was anything but that. The game was easy sauce PVE for that entire 16 months, except for the bugginess of the game. Now, it's different. I don't see why people complain about people complaining(wait, is that what I'm doing?). Who really knows where the game will end up when it hits retail in 2 years. It might be a pure farming simulator, where guns are used to shoot bugs off the vegetables. A for-profit company will eventually take feedback from the community, adjust both the feedback and the company goals, and try to make a great game. Just look at WOW and Blizzard. They adjust, swing too far one way, and adjust back. It's a constant give and take over years. This is the first real change Dayz SA has seen so far. It won't be the last.

I hear the dev's have decided to add this as a new result of opening cans with damaged knives. It will be called the Gews, and it will show a pony hoof spewing blood when you attempt it.
-
Agreed, the headline doesn't confirm .55, but if you read down in the comments of the link, it looks like .55 is confirmed for today.

These are the times when you wish you had some sort of combat logs to understand what just happened. We have become so accustomed to the bugs in the game, that sometimes we just accept a death and move on, figuring it will get fixed later. But, did we get shot, and didn't realize it? Or lag out and get axed? I've died probably 5-6 times where I have absolutely NO idea about how. In a loot hotzone, I know I am risking death. In the middle of nowhere, I don't expect it but it does happen.
-
Best weapon against zed's are axes. They can be found in firehouses, or some two story houses. Chopping axe makes a good second. Check outdoor sheds and such. For better luck, get off coast and head inland. Hit a well on the way, and you can run a long way. For a quick getaway, have zombie follow you into house and then you run back out and lock him in. Works about 90% of the time. We've heard it before, but the game is setup to test now, not to play/enjoy. You are paying BI to be a tester.
-
If it's an pickaxe vs brass knuckles, that is a tough fight. The axe dude had the range advantage.
-
It will eventually be fixed, and when it is, you will lose the items that are in the fireplace. When that happens is anyone's guess.

Don't 'eat all', just eat, or just drink. Works for me. I did the eat all and drink all and I had similar problems as you are posting.
