Sounds like you were sick. At that point, you could have tried some charcoal tabs, or maybe drinking until you throw up a few times. Hard to say what made you sick without more details. Sometimes, people will take canteens or water bottles and fill them with some nasty stuff. Maybe you drank diesel instead of water. -

I would agree with most of thus. It sounds a bit different than your earlier post, but I do agree that it is a statistics equation, where the further you get from a base, the less likely to find military gear. It won't be impossible to find an akm in remote areas, but it should be ultra rare. -

I don't understand what you mean. If it is truly random as you suspect/desire, then there won't be ANY hotspots, as everyone can just avoid every other person while looking at outhouses and remote deer stands. The buildings and barracks that attract people now would become useless. I think it would hurt the game in a major way, but I also understand that some players want the playerbase to drop by 90%, and this would be a good move to help drop the active amount of players. -

And I still feel the exact opposite. The question is how do the dev's feel it should be...I don't mind some things being random, but if I have the same chance of finding an AKM in a remote outhouse compared to a large military base, it just seems like the game will lose a lot of what makes it fun(hotspots). -
Some say a set mine will despawn after server reset. I cannot confirm or deny

Age old question really. Should items spawn logically, or randomly? I haven't seen a definitive answer from the developers on this. I'm hoping for logic, but I will probably adapt either way. If they end up making military bases useless, I think the game loses more than it gains. -

Don't worry about the amount of Brass Knuckles and other items. A lot of items are 'tested' by having them everywhere, just to increase the interaction with them. They will be fine-tuned later in Alpha. For zombies, I try not to fight them, but will run them a bit, get 'em tired, and lead them into a house where I will lock them in. Works most of the time. They hit less hard than before, so you can take a few shots. -

I found a loot-splosion on a server at the military base. This morning, I filled all the backpacks with stuff in the barracks and carried them outside where I dropped them, along with all the rifles(tons of ak74s). It will be interesting to see what it looks like tonight.

Just curious about persistence. If I drop a tent, a backpack, and a gun all separately, are all three persistent or just the tent and bag?

Why do people attack each other personally on forums? Strange, but I am probably guilty at times too. I think even with the loot in its current state, I can appreciate where it is heading. On some servers, guns are still hard to find. Of course, I found a bugged server last nights and guns were all over the barracks. We will see lots of iterations between now and release.

Any way to identify if a paper has been written on, without picking up and reading. It would be cool if description said paper when not, and 'hand written note' once someone does write on it.

I like that the devs tried something, saw the results and are adjusting. As long as they do that, I'm happy. Once they stop with adjustments, then development has stopped and THAT is when you decide if Dayz is the game for you. In the end, BI is in it to make money, and that will influence game direction. We still have a year or so for actual release. Plenty of time to adjust and get it right.

So something wierd just happened... hacks or bad luck?

All that, buy one thing that rang true for me. Sometimes, typically when I log in for the first time of the day, it logs me into the server and I don't have the black screen 45 sec delay. Then, if the server resets or I log out and back in, I get the typical "spawning in xx sec" message, but that is followed by a black 'please wait' screen that also takes 45 secs or so. What triggers the black screen, and are you always vulnerable during this loading stage? -
So the way I read it was that the devs are going back to 0.54 loot system?

So many complaints from both sides. Yet, the devs said that the old sys was a placeholder and new sys was severely bugged. That means it will fall in the middle somewhere. I like that idea. Take this time though, and stock up on the things that were hard to find. Just know that when .56 drops, persistence wipes will probably happen too. What matters more in the future, rice or guns/ammo? -

Well, they are changing the loot system today, so it's kind of moot. I will say this, I liked aspects of the scarcity of loot, but other parts really bothered me. If they make loot rare and random, it devalues places like military complexes so much that they will become barren. I checked a lot of them this patch, and never found anything interesting. While some do hate military bases, they exist for a reason, and that shouldn't be just to take up space. Yes, gear would get spread out given an EOTWAWKI scenario, but it really devalues the game for a good percentage of players. We have to envision that those dynamic chopper crashes mean the military is alive somewhere, and had to take off from a base. I think what happened is they didn't put enough thought into how fast the loot would dry up, and how spread out it would be spawning. If that bump up the overall numbers a bit, and tweak what is spawning to decrease the percentage of useless items, then it will be fun. I must say, after spending a lot of time this week picking apples and berries, I was getting somewhat aggravated. Growing a pumpkin was nice, but logistics of pumpkin harvesting and storage make it tedious. -

It will probably loaded once each server. Then, due to persistence, it will be empty forever. Nature of the beast. Police stations were gold when .55 dropped, now all they have are 75 pairs of cuffs and keys. -
You said you aren't elite, but almost died, but managed to find cans of food. Trust me, on some servers, you would have died. The canned food is often completely gone for 3-4 towns inland. Last night, I started on sourthern spawn, and hit every building all the way up the middle of the map. No canned food until Novy Sobor. That was a lot of apple and berry picking for me. I don't mind it on occasion, but if you play and die enough, those multiple sessions of 'search apple tree' become very boring. Sometimes, it seems about a 33% hit rate on picking apples, other times it's 1 apple for 20+ attempts. RNG and all. I guess they don't want it to be easy, otherwise everyone would just eat apples. Just because they say an apple a day, doesn't mean they gotta be OP.

That is a big if. Changing strategy is really a totally different game. I am not going to lie. For the last 15 months, the only thing that was fun in this game for me(and a lot others) was PVP. Gearing up was just a quick, but easy thing to do before engaging. Now, it is totally different. I'm not going to say it's good or bad, as it's only one patch. But this is the first patch I have seen that had a real impact on game play, and I like the difference. I had put the game down for months, but now I am playing again. The PVE gearing up on a 'used' server is hard. Hell, it takes a lot to move from town to town on just apples, and trust me, I have looted every single building from coast to middle of the map and I might find one can of food over a couple hours of play. The rest is apples. The tricky part is when a Zed attacks you while eating/foraging apples. Damn, they are silent. I am not going to say it's too hard, as I want to see where the developer is taking us. This is the just the 2nd step for our journey, and I don't want to give the team too much love or hate. I will say it's different, and it's got me playing again.

The mine I found is not 'set', and takes up 4 slots of inventory. I wanna set it near my stash, but not sure if I deactivate it for myself later. It could be tricky.

I agree with cooking pots. I guess with randomization, the most likely place for them might be outhouses. I am confident it will be tweaked to most likely spawn in kitchens later, but its a tough piece of loot to find now.
