No Z's on the server? It's happened twice now
randomspawn replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
On the servers with the loot fix(is that all servers now, or still just multiplay?), the zombie count is WAY lower, perhaps 75% lower than it was before the loot fix. -
Too late for that. At some point, people just have to grow up. You are playing a Survival/PVP/Zed game, and got out-survived and out-pvp'd. If you can't let that go, you should think about quitting the game.

Just curious about the rice. It does give 10 servings, but it dehydrates you doesn't it? Would 2 canned peaches be better, as it hydrates you? It might depend on your canteen count, but it seems almost equal in terms of value.

ok, the multiplay servers have mostly been updated, though I've run across a few that didn't seem to be. It's nice to have reasons to visit more than just a couple houses each town. Just curious though, it almost seems like they reduced the overall zombie count in this sneaky update. Has anyone else noticed this? I used to see a zed every 25M or so, now they seem much more spread out, and i am less likely to get swarmed by multiples.

approved or not, it reeks and i can't be bothered to read your external link. thanks for helping develop the game though.

im not sure upcoming features are "positive" to the game
randomspawn replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
eh, I'm not so sure about the bows comment. While they exist everywhere, I think guns are almost always more prevalent, especially after a military standoff with an army of infected. Couple that with the portability of bullets, and guns have a real reason to exist in a Zed world. -
well, at NEAF this morning, I was transitioning from walkway to ladder on ATC building, when the animation of putting away my fireaxe pushed me right through the metal rail to a death 20ft below. What a glorious way to go out. I went almost 2 months early on without ever glitch-dying. Now, I barely make it 2 days and I die from some crappy hiccup in the game mechanics. It has actually been a while since I died to a player.

eh. Maybe. If they figure out stealth and zombie LOS issues, we can still have hard hitting zombies and decent survival. The problem with the survival aspect is combatting boredom in a video game.

as much as i like jumping, it shouldn't be considered in dayz
randomspawn replied to bioned's topic in General Discussion
its always kinda buggy. Lag destroys the animation. I think having your arms raised or not also makes a difference. -
we had a topic here last week about this very thing. I have transitioned to replacing my cowboy hat with a more protective headgear now. I got one-shotted at least twice before making the change. they can still break limbs in a single shot, but haven't died with a hard-hat(or better) on, not yet anyway.

Don't forget to add a bipod. I'm pretty sure you don't even have to deploy the bipod, but I'm not 100% on that

Just curious why you care about 'pristine'? All the data we have says that the parts condition has ZERO effect on it's accuracy. A badly damaged LRS is the same as a pristine one. On a PU scope, the only bad thing about the badly damaged is the cracked lens, but that doesn't change the accuracy. Same for MP parts, no change. I guess it might have an impact later in the game, but for now, it's business as usual no matter the condition.

Yeah, it's a bit weird. Around Elektro, shoot at the side of the firehouse, on the concrete wall. You might see a slight puff if you hit it right. or shoot a zombie. i've done both. the reload animation does suck. it should only reload when you want, not automatically.

Yep, or a splint. Of course, i've had a broken limb a few times in the last 2 weeks, but I am on a serious shortage of finding cures. I actually had to server hop through about 10 servers yesterday, all in the town of Krasno. That is a good town to loot, with a lot of good places and not many other players. A couple token zombies here and there, but they had crap for cures yesterday. I eventually gave up and belly crawled to the airfield. Three server hops later and I finally got executed. I was happy to end the suffering. With the popularity of broken limbs in this game, I think they might need to double the drop rate of morphine and sticks. Having to belly crawl looking for an assisted-suicide is a tough way to go. I remember the promo for DayZ, with that girl blowing her own brains out. Lets do eeet.

Best way to zero is to start with Dayz DB map. Click your two best guess points to estimate your distance. Now that they fixed the left-hand drift, it's a lot easier to target in. If you are pushing the 700 or 800M distance, then maybe a single zero shot would be handy, but often I never bother.

Truthfully I would like to see a few more locations with some melee weapons, especially now that zombies are able to qualify for the Olympic decathlon. I don't mind having the new police stations at spots, but more often than not, I end up with a gun, no ammo, and no axe. Maybe a pipe wrench or bat, and it takes 10+ solid connects to down a single zed. Also, start me with a 2 slot shirt, and if I have to rip it to rags, I get 4 instead of 2. Two rags is tough depending if the area has been looted already.

Dayz needs players actually playing the game. If weather forces me to hide in a building for 45min, I won't play. I will switch servers. This is a zombie-survival simulator, not a weather simulator. The designers must always think realism vs playability. If they push realism above all else, people will likely be bored in a short amount of time. I don't want to sit and watch my character sleep, poop or hide inside for a whole winter.

He is saying we KNOW the problem you are having, and we also have a different symptom(empty slot) that is most likely being cause by the same problem in the code. At least from my playtime over the last 200+ hours, I feel the problems are intertwined.

Put it back....lootable bodys after ten minutes
randomspawn replied to vipereye's topic in General Discussion
I used to think this way, but over the last couple weeks, I've had too many 'glitch' deaths. Imagine you are killed by another player, they can come and loot you, or have a buddy do it. Time isn't really an issue in this instance. However, say you are on a ladder or roof somewhere(remote town), and the game rubber-bands you to death, or you get a demon-possessed ladder. No one will ever find your body, as no one is within miles of your corpse. However, at least you could 'revenge' your death by picking up the parts of your gear that aren't ruined. This is the same type reason that I won't carry anything valuable in my pants in DAYZ. The chance of it being ruined for no reason are too high. -
Heck, on top of some buildings the loot is hidden from view but accessible via the tab inventory. The inaccessible loot on the top of lockers really irks me. I have arms, axes, sticks and guns. I'm pretty sure I should be able to get that shirt down damnit!

I think the zombies experience the same sound bugs and glitches as the players. Like sometimes when you don't hear the gunfire, or the you hear random zombie noises everywhere. Imagine being a poor zed chasing every little sound just to find it was a game glitch. I would quit aggroing too.

WARNING: Do not kneel near Zombies.
randomspawn replied to pacific_coast's topic in General Discussion
Ive been one shot by zombies at least twice, maybe 3 times last few weeks. Last night was bandaging but I can't remember for sure about other two. I only wear cowboy hats, so that could be it. This would be a reason to have damage logs that could be reviewed. You want to write a bug report but what part is buggy? -
Stuck in a rock, sinking into the ground FULLY GEARED CHARACTER
randomspawn replied to Pokerguy12's topic in General Discussion
I can't remember exactly, as it was probably 10 days ago. I remember vaulting seemed slightly different going up vs going down. Tried all the normal stuff and probably took 20 min of playing with it. -

I had the same issue in that pond. Eventually got out but just dumb luck mostly. I now avoid ponds and drink from wells. -
yep. I know that town well. I ran from svet so fast that I ended up further south than I planned. No worries though, I hit the airfield then got safely parked for the night. I do like the town. Spent a week based there with the garages and piano houses and firestations.
