I believe you lose health when you walk/run with no shoes/ruined shoes, but I remember reading somewhere it stops draining when you reach 1000 health.

There are no good Dayz SA youtubers?
charliepow replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
TopeREC TV, CommanderPixel, Silo Entertainment, BLIZZHD, M1NDR, SepticFalcon, WOBO and Mr. Moon are all great players and most upload frequently. -
It doesn't matter if they're military or not... All we need is more in-between's of the current stances so we can look through windows properly and stand on our toes to get loot from the top of the lockers in 1PP.

Help - My Character Keeps Being Reset
charliepow replied to mambo123's topic in New Player Discussion
Like other said, make sure you don't join a server as soon as it's reset as it can cause character loss. Wait until the server time clicks over so it's one minute past the hour, as long as it's not right on the hour it will have reset properly and is ready to join. And also make sure you're safe when you log off. After logging out your character stays in the game for 30 seconds to prevent people logging off during combat. Your character is vulnerable to players and zombies in this 30 seconds. And make sure that you're playing on the same type of server. First-person only and Third-person servers have different characters, as well as any Private Shard servers you might play. -
A (Former) Good Guy at the End of his Patience's Rant
charliepow replied to TSGN7's topic in General Discussion
I know I sound like "that guy" but I haven't run into any KoS players in weeks now. Many friendly encounters, mostly just searching players bags and sending them on their way, and a few times teaming up and clearing Cherno for loot. I play on Australian 1st Person servers so it might be the combination of Aussie spirit and hardcore DayZ attitude...? -
Should also need to wash your hands/gloves after skinning animals or digging holes. Or even opening doors to some degree haha. Washing hands prevents disease.

MORE ANIMATION LAYERS YES

Or better yet they just add a kick/push button.

It makes sense, it's also very unhygienic to eat with your hands (obvious) Even if you had cutlery in your inventory but using it was automatic when you ate food, or right-click on food > Eat All Tactical Bacon-With Spoon or something similar. Imagine all the germs that would be on your hands in Chernarus... Skinning animals, digging up dirt, bandaging infected wounds... Not to mention all the doorknobs you're using hahaha.

Dayz Fps & graphic settings quick question
charliepow replied to a_irish_fella's topic in New Player Discussion
The game isn't optimized (at all) because it is in Alpha and they're in the process of re-constructing parts of the engine. Don't get too ahead of yourself trying to build a PC to play this game specifically because it will change considerably back and forth until beta or full release. -

Have you guys ever considered hosting an Australian (or nearby) server? -
Visual Infection/transformation - player assist limb removal ~ Play as infected?
charliepow replied to victormindfield's topic in Suggestions
According to the current lore of the game, the Survivors are a very small minority that are completely immune to the infection. The majority of humans were killed by the infection and then there were people who were sort of immune and sort of not (the infected that are in game) so I don't think we'll be seeing players controlling infected. I also think that the removal of limbs could be considered pointless because then you're at a huge disadvantage against other players. It's safe to assume that most players will go to the coast and suicide and try and respawn at their bodies. (New character but keep the loot) I would absolutely love to see other infections in the game though, as long as they are eventually 100% curable (no permanent effects = no suicide respawns) -
I understand what you mean, sort of like in Real-time strategy games that allow Friend-Or-Foe colours. Instead of every player having a different colour, your allies are yellow and enemies are red etc. I'm pretty neutral on the idea, on one side it WOULD be 'unrealistic' but I guess it compensates for not being able to recognise faces like you would in reality.

Happiness (Something that benefits teamplay)
charliepow replied to master11388's topic in Suggestions
I'm pretty neutral on things like this. Like OP said, it's not an intrusive mechanic as long as there aren't negative effects for being unhappy (so lone wolves and arseholes don't have a cry about it) It rewards team play IF you choose to team up -
Helping someone in Novo always turns into a bloodbath

This was an intense watch. Glad to see some more people who asses the situation before shooting. -
One of the Devs actually said quite recently that you'll be able to poison food. Poisoning food/water sources might be a bit overpowered but using bleach/poison/crushed up poisonous berries on a can of food and giving it to someone who is robbing you would be a great mechanic.

I'm 100% with OP on this one. Having SOFT skill progression increases your attachment to your character. The longer you survive, the easier/faster it is to do things. I believe this is what approach the dev team will eventually make in some form or another. For anyone saying it's unbalanced etc, being a freshspawn with superior tactics will always allow you to defeat opponents that have been in game longer. Even if they decide not to implement soft skills in terms of firing guns, reloading and loading magazines getting quicker over time is a must-have. Personally, being Australian, I have little experience with guns so I'm not ashamed to say that it can take me over a minute (standing stationary) to load up a 10-round .22 magazine. I imagine if I went shooting more often I could do it quicker. I'm also quite prone to jams compared to my mates with more experience.

Get rid of inventory "tetris", its busy work and limiting.
charliepow replied to franzuu's topic in Suggestions
If anyone has ever been hiking or camping you'd know that you don't want to put your food at the bottom of your pack because it's a pain in the ass to move everything else and get it out. In the game, items that are further down on the grid system should take longer to get out of your pack than ones sitting up top. Would add more depth and realism and also make you prioritise and think about each situation you're in. If you're venturing into a town you might want to rearrange and keep your medical supplies at the top of your pack as opposed to having food there when you're just wandering. Being a Diablo II player the tetris system just feels absolutely natural and also makes sense. Also people rant about weight systems, but heavier objects in the game usually take up more slots even if they're not physically that big (logs for example) -

Exp. Servers are still down (frozen/wait for host) -
Project Zomboid has mechanics like this such as Panic when you suddenly see a zombie in close proximity. I personally welcome similar effects in DayZ.

Experimental Branch: 0.45 Discussion
charliepow replied to SmashT's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Does anyone know what is going on with half of the Experimental servers at the moment? 3 out of 4 of the AU/NZ servers have 0/40 people and only show "Wait for host" when I try joining them. -
I've clocked up 250 hours and I'm still friendly most of the time. Me and my mate have become really cautious and because of that, we can usually find/kill bandits without dying. Most of the time we just survive and pack really light because the less items = less damage taken and also less items = less upset when we die haha. You've just got to understand that in the end, the game is about dying.

I found a cow in the north suburbs of Berez, and the rest of the animals I found in open plains away from towns/cities.

Getting stuffed before fully energized?
charliepow replied to Mukaparska's topic in General Discussion
Your stomach content depletes faster than you consume energy. Wait until you're not stuffed and eat more, you'll get there eventually.
