    Doors - anyone home?

    Once they add in noises for opening doors, I'll definitely be closing doors IF I'm in a high-traffic area.

    There are many vegetables that are ready for harvest within 1-2 months. Is there a uniform time within the game relative to real time? Or do servers set how long day/night are?

    More Horror elements!

    Have you ever played the current experimental build at night? Me and a friend we scared out of our minds. I had a headtorch and he had a handheld one, and we were trying to loot one of the north-east towns and Zeds were coming from all directions. He was spotting them with his torch and I'd attempt to shoot them before they got to us. In a panic I accidentally shot him and broke his arm but we eventually found morphine in the hospital. Crazy experience, keen to do it again.

    Is there really any point to...

    I usually kill zombies with an FNX if I have ammo for it, just to save ammo for whatever my primary is. Respawning zombies at night = terrifying.

    Kick = immediate server log-off or not?

    They should change being kicked to an immediate log out of the character. Although this introduces exploits for server admins "kicking" their friends (and themselves?) when they enter combat.

    Do you think Zombies should be headshots only?

    The "zombies" are infected human living; humans with a rabid type disease. Therefore their bodies should suffer the same trauma as a normal human would, although with an adrenaline-high mind (ignores pain etc etc)

    I think the chance should go up/down depending on the weather conditions (raining, windy, inside, outside)

    Cereal and milk is what I survive on in real life.
  9. I believe I read somewhere that they were going to add in skill development to the game, like medical skills and firearm accuracy as well as fitness and whatnot. I think skills as such that can't be traded/looted would be a great and welcome addition and would encourage more friendly/cautious interaction between players.

    Using pens to mark blood type on blood bag...

    Great idea. Would writing on them be user-defined or would it be an automatic process of using a blood test kit on a bloodbag while the pen is in the inventory? If the first, we'd be able to falsely label bloodbags which could add an interesting dynamic.

    Are you ready for a zombie apocalypse?

    Physical condition: I'm 19 and I'm pretty fit although I don't actively exercise at all. I'm fast when I need to be. I'm a recording/mixing/mastering engineer so my hearing is great and I'm able to zero in on sound sources easily over other noise. My eyesight also seems to be better than most because I can read the train timetable from across the road and people are always like how the shiznit can you read that. Mental stability: I'm fairly stable and unemotional a lot if I need to be. I've killed/prepared/treated animals as I live on a farm so I'm not squeamish when it comes to blood or insides. Teamwork or lonewolf: I'd prefer to work in a small group of close mates/family. Big group = more attention, lone wolf = dangerous. Useful skills and training: Can shoot, can cook, can drive. Talents: I'm very sociable and can make new friends easily so I think I'd be okay with interacting with other people. Plus I'm Australian so all survivors would be mates to begin with. Gear: I live on a farm so I have access to every type of weapon imaginable. Scythes, hedge trimmer, axes, a rifle. Various motorbikes (bi and quad) a few cars and a boat. Rating: Considering I live in a very lowly populated country, as well as in an extremely low population area, I'd honestly give myself a 9.

    This is actually a very good idea, and I can imagine it wouldn't be too hard to implement and wouldn't tax much resources at all (well as much as the server knowing which doors are opened/closed)

    Regular vs Hardcore: Why do you play?

    I play hardcore because the game is a survival simulator; it's basically a social experiment to see how people interact in a zombie apocalypse. Seeing over/through walls is ridiculous in this sense, so I only play hardcore. I play softcore when I feel like dicking around.
  16. If you find one of the one-handed hammers, I've found that 3 knocks to the head will kill an infected, or if you get a hit to the head, if you keep beating them on the ground, by the time they get back up they're dead.

    Friendlies are plentiful in DayZ- At least, for me

    I've only ever been K'dOS at Elektro on a high pop server or at an airfield, which is completely understandable. I met a group of 3 other friendlies (who weren't friends on Steam or RL) who were geared up on the Aussie Experimental Hardcore server. They gave me an SKS and plenty of ammo and we adventured for a few hours killing the respawning zombies.
  18. Hardcore is (and always should be) for people who want to play the vanilla game without putting up with stupid corner-hacking. I'm not against alternate game modes, but there really needs to always be a vanilla 1pp-only mode.

    AU Experimental Server?

    How long does everyone think it will take for some AU Experimental servers to be created? I'm sure there are many many Aussies/Kiwis like myself that are keen to try out the latest build and give feedback. Even one or two servers would be sufficient. Any information regarding this?

    An official "no" would be real nice. Playing 300+ ping on US servers is playable when playing alone but not with anyone else.

    Death Note [Not the series]

    I don't usually write a death note because KoS'ers just search for ammo and better attatchments and go on their way, but I absolutely love the idea of leaving notes for other players to read. Me and a friend left a note on the road telling the reader (who ended up being a semi-geared player) that if he was reading the note that he was being watched and that he needed to stay where he was until approached. It also said that if he moved he would be shot. He actually stayed still and my friend approached him while I kept watch. We ended up taking a considerable amount of ammo and a fire axe and gave him some soft drink as compensation. The best part was that neither of our guns were loaded - we had no ammo.

    Seriously? After several patches?

    With 100+ hours of gameplay, this has never happened to me. I'd say it's something to do with your connection or the server you're on.
  24. I was meeting my mate at the water pump on the Elektro hill when we heard gunshots coming from behind me. They shot around 30 shots as I was slowly walking up the hill. We couldn't see where they were so we took cover behind a house, only to hear shots from the hill ABOVE us. Eventually they killed my mate but I managed to shoot 2 of them with my mosin/PU scope. They were fully geared out, one of them had stacked protector cases within protector cases (I thought this was fixed?). My girlfriend met me there as a fresh spawn and looted one of the corpses, and then we heard mre shooting coming from the hill above us but it stopped soon after. After 10 minutes of waiting for my dead friend to respawn (he was stuck on "you are dead" when joining) the bodies dissapeared, so we decided to run as far as we could so we could log out. After about 15 minutes of running we were shot as from behind, my girlfriend fell unconscious and I saw the attacker for a brief second, he was wearing a payday mask which was no surprise. After a few minutes I realised he had swung really far around me and was now above me on the hill, and we both shot at once but he had a better aim. I was unconscious and politely said "good fight mate" before he blew my head off. 1. If you were at the hill when this happened, good fight! Especially the guy that tracked us for at least 30 minutes. 2. Are case-inceptions fixed? Or was this guy's character old enough to still have them. 3. This game gets really intense, I can't wait until more survival aspects are introduced and creates a darker atmosphere.
  25. I was walking up the coast from the factory and though I saw a player getting attacked by a zed, but on closer inspection realised it was attacking another zed. Both of them seemed to be "attacking the air for no reason" which I've seen before, except one of them was behind the other and drawing blood. I thought it might just be a graphical glitch until the one on front fell to the ground and disappeared. Has anyone else encountered anything like this?
