    *Optional* Tutorial

    Maybe there could be a tutorial on a ship or something, like a really brief scripted mission sort of thing that involves you moving around, opening doors, picking up items, being attacked by a person on the ship that has been infected with the virus, and then the ship goes into chaos and blah blah screaming etc and you're knocked overboard. The screen goes black... You spawn on the coast.

    Hahahaha I mean that if the arteries/veins that run straight from your heart get severed in two, you're dead.

    Once the amount of guns is reduced and controlled, as well as irreplaceable ammunition for those guns, hunting with a crossbow/bow would be viable because you can retrieve your bolts/arrows. Also, a broadhead arow to the lung/chest/heart area can cause an animal/human to bleed out and die within 10 seconds.

    Proper Evisceration & Decapitation Would Be Nice

    This is a great example of using gore as a gameplay device. If you see someone with a bashed in head and gore splattered all over the road, with a trail of bloody footprints leading away from it for a few meters, you know that someone has been melee'd to death. These visual cues, as well as a "examine body" function would add for a great sense of realism, and the addition of bloody footprints could force a player to make choices on how they attack players. For example, you and a friend are in Elektro doing the usual looting run. You both split up, but someone shoots your friend. You go back to your friend's body and see footprints leading away from it, which lead in to a building where the hostile player is hiding. The hostile player could have avoided giving away his position by either using a blunt melee weapon (baseball bat, wrench) or by killing the player with less bullets/in areas that don't cause as much blood to go everywhere.

    I don't see why we shouldn't be able to spraypaint guns whatever colour we like. Considering 90% of players opt for full camo-military-super-trooper style gear I don't think we'd see TOO many ridiculous colour. It should at least be an option for players.

    "My" vs "your" status messages

    I'd prefer it to be "my" rather than "you", because YOU are the character, and there the status messages are a simulation of what YOU would be thinking. So if you were out in the rain, you'd think "I'm getting wet."
  8. I hope that they add a time counter on the character screen or when you log into a server that says how long you've survived for. It would make people a lot more careful if they knew their character had survived for 50+ hours.

    If it were accelerated metabolism we'd have to have accelerated walking to find food quicker... haha

    Super Zombies?

    It's a lot more fun, right? Also the zombies aren't "zombies" they're infected. Also they can't just "program" them to stop at walls and doors because that would require them using the geometry for pathfinding which uses waaay too much processing. They're currently working on mapping all the parts of buildings that they CAN walk, so then they won't be able to run through walls/fences. Also you can outrun a zombie if you are holding a melee weapon or nothing at all. It's the price you pay for carrying 2 primaries.

    "Ruined"

    Shirts (t shirts, jackets, anything upper body), Vests (assault vests, chest holster, anything worn over Shirts) and Backpacks all absorb damage. The better condition the piece is in, the more damage it can absorb. Once it is ruined, there is no armour bonus at all and I THINK that items inside are more prone to damage.

    I just downloaded a 159MB patch on experimental, is this just a fix to the last patch where all the animations screwed up? Or is there any other additions?
  14. Didn't read, too long. The AI is a placeholder and might possibly be being worked on by the same team working on the Animal AI for hunting.

    Yeah did you actually see blood/the bullet hit him? If so, he would have taken the damage regardless of any desync. (I believe I read somewhere that hits are determined by the client that is shooting, unless this has changed.)

    DayZ Standalone - Bandit Appearance?

    There are no bandits or heroes, it's all situational. Maybe someone will help a player who approached them carefully, making themselves vulnerable by withdrawing their weapon. And then the same player might feel threatened by the next player they meet because they're a new spawn who has nothing to lose. It's all about the situation, the player's tone of voice and body language (Yes, this exists and is quite readable in game.)

    I'd assume they'd be a primary because of their size. It's another one of those DayZ choices you have to make. Stealth/silence and damage vs fire rate/range etc.

    Yes it will, just play on a private hive and anyone that joins the server will be a freshspawn and will only be able to use loot from that server.

    Yes for the sake of Alpha testing (knowing why you suddenly died, for example random fall damage glitches) No once the game is finished. EDIT: I'm talking about on the "You are dead" screen, not some stupid feed in text.

    I think he means a map that is a holdable object. Similar to maps in Minecraft (first thing that popped into my head) and other players can see you holding your map open. Otherwise he's talking nonsense.

    Once private hives are implemented, you won't have to worry. You can't server hop if your character is only saved to one server.
  24. No, it was just a bad time to get back into the game. Today there was a 170mb patch that completely destroyed the game. I'm not sure if it's fixed yet, but it causes random animations to occur when you do stuff. For example, when you try to bandage you handcuff yourself and can't do anything.

    It will be hard to test when every time you need to bandage, you get on the floor and handcuff yourself hahaha.
