    DayZ SA Trains?

    [i understand this is optimistic but I think this would be a VERY useful/interesting feature] Ok, I recently went along the highway in the very north of the map, and eventually got to the train station north-west of Gvozdno. The whole time I just couldn't stop thinking of how epic/practical it would be if they could bring in a train with all the other vehicles when those are introduced eventually. The railway basically runs a perimeter of the map (it terminates in the north-west and starts in the south-west). Just think - could have your crew all aboard a post-apocalypse express, gunning down zombies/bambis as they travel around the edges of the map to epic locations (near NW airfield, cherno, elektro, (port near) berezino, svetlo). If you've played BF4 and seen the train on Golmud Railway I can kind of imagine something like that. I think it would just really open up the map and also just be bloody awesome. Would be very scary and apocalypse feeling to see a rusty old refurbished train wreck chugging along towards you from the distance. Anybody else think this would be pretty cool/useful? Haven't thought about how they would be kept though. Maybe each server would have 2 trains, both starting off maybe in cherno and svetlo. Require the player to find fuel in the nearby train stations and fill up before they can get going. Then just let them go on till server reset and start all over again? Also a train collision could be pretty badass and scary too. Do you try slam on the brakes or do you jump off and risk broken limbs/death to avoid a head on collision with another survivors train? I reckon this is a feasible idea, what do you guys think?
  2. Okay, so I'm yet to find a comparison between the characteristics of these two rifles (IZH18 and CR527), let alone one that is up-to-date. So question is, besides the fact that the CR has a magazine option, which rifle actually shoots better? Greater damage? More accurate? Etc etc. Cheers
  3. Simple question that I haven't seen answered with my simple search (and frankly don't have the time right now to dig deep into old out-dated threads for answers). How do you remove the spare wheel from the Lada? I have tried with just aiming my hands at it like detaching spark plug or battery, nothing happens. Done the same thing whislt holding the lug wrench. Nothing. How do you do it? Really really really need to know asap :P Cheers in advance

    Hunting Jacket and Riot Gear?

    Hey guys. Just saw this photo in the news from Ukraine. I really like the look of their gear. Whenever I see photos of their protests I reckon that on DayZ Chernarussians would pretty much have access to all the same stuff, so ideally we should kinda look like these guys... So first off, the guy on the right has an awesome hunting jacket, something we could really do with to go along with those lovely pants. This has probably been mentioned before but the search bar didnt bring up any direct discussion of this. Also the guy on the left has lot's of already in-game clothing minus that pretty nice riot helmet. Not sure if I did read somewhere else on the forum about getting more police and fire service gear? And those riot shields also would be an awesome addition if possible (but probably quite useless). So yeah, anyone else wana see this kind of stuff? Can anyone confirm if this kind of stuff is perhaps on the way? Apologies if all these have been raised before :P

    Why is the Dayz community so bad?

    Maybe you should get a mic, that tends to piss me off a lot when someone has to type - might even drive me to killing someone :p well it also seems really shifty if you dont say anything and they cant figure out you're typing (like you're scheming!)

    That's a fair point when it comes to small issues that don't make the game worse, but OP is right about things that they've introduced that have broken essential features that used to work fine, for example: - Melee weapons being over-nerfed (the devs admitted they only meant to make them a little bit weaker) - Sound bugs becoming much worse - breathing problems and louder looped samples that now make a whole dimension of the game virtually unusable unless the sounds are gunshots They found out about these on experimental yet they chose to ruin these on stable too just so we could get an unfinished physics system and unfinished binos? The costs of bringing in these minor fixes are big bugs that have hurt important features that already worked in the game

    What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

    Just got held up by some bastard glitched behind the walls of the NEAF prison - he yelled if I want to live then drop all my gear and leave. I told him to jog on and waited outside. Then after a couple mins he jumps out the back wall next to the runway and me and my mate dropped him immediately. Was this a hack or just a glitch?

    Walk with hands up?

    Hey guys, I couldn't see it in the search but if this hasn't already been suggested then here's something that i think is important and useful. Players should be able to walk whilst having their hands up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VCbW7Gkgu2U This would obvs be realistic and very useful for kidnappers to move their victims to safer locations and also for people trying to prove they're friendly whilst approaching geared players to get into talking range (or maybe we should have a SHOUT channel where people can hear you from within 500m direct line of sight). But yeah, apologies if this has been suggested already!

    A surrender flag?

    This would be great! But this should be very difficult to do because the item would be equipped in your hand and so it'd be obvious if they switched to a weapon. Would be really good to use to extend around a corner if you're pinned by fire from beyond speaking range.

Okay, I'm sorry if you have been one of those people demanding 1:1 mouse controls since SA release but what they have implemented in this new experimental is not something that I think belongs in DayZ. I really hope there are others out there who feel like this is a major setback for the realism of DayZ. Just got back from hols so this is the first time I actually got to try it out. There are many faults with this but the most striking one is this: Realism - I can now make my character prone or crouch and spin a full 360 in about half a second! He basically doesn't even move his legs (especially if prone)! This is just completely unrealistic, and this fact cannot be denied. This is really something I'd only expect to find on CoD or BF or any other arcade-y FPS. I'm not sure if this is a consequence 1:1 or just something else in the new mouse controls, but it isn't realistic at all. How should you be able to spin around instantaneously whilst proning, crouching and arguably standing? Please say others agree that this is not a good thing because it sounds like the vast majority dont care about this and want the game to cater to their inner-CoD/BF player's needs :P

    It's CoD-ish in the way that now people can just spin around as fast as there sensitivity allows them- which is way faster than should be allowed. It's not nit-picky over-realism to prevent players from moving like super hero ninjas. And they have made it that the weapon lags the tiniest bit behind the body, but still no body can do that. It's just ridiculous and extremely immersion breaking when people do this.

    Yeah if you sneak up behind a sniper he shouldn't be able to suddenly shoot you instantly, it should take him a fairly long time to even try and aim at you from prone, so uhhh yeah, extremely immersion breaking in lots of situations like this

    What's the current hacking status like in DayZ:SA?

    They'll try to deal with this as soon as they can, but atm there's more focus on just getting vital game features fixed like guaranteed messaging, phyiscs for hunting and still tweaking to zombies. This only strikes me as an issue for high pop servers tbh, I don't run into this too much but I agree it's happening more often than before and it is annoying. But medium pop servers are still fine and as long as they are then testing will not be impeded - therefore being low on the priority list.

    A centralised list of SA Groups/Clans?

    I'm not too sure if one exists or not but would we be able to (and would people be interested) create a list of all the community groups on DayZ SA? At the moment it just feels like we're all there but it's difficult for anyone to know unless they check the recruitment announcements on this forum or on steam. It shouldn't be that the only awareness of clans is of the ones that are recruiting as there are plenty of things that established clans would like to do with others, the difficulty is knowing who's around. It's almost like there should be a forum for clans themselves with clan delegates. I saw this site http://dayzclans.com/ which calls itself a clan network but seems only to be an alternative to the recruitment page on this forum with the main focus on picking up new members. So from what I can tell, there isn't something like this yet. The benefits of this would be that the smaller newer groups (like my own) would be aware of other groups and which would allow them to interact more with each other, eg by organising joint events etc. It would also be good for new players to know a bit more about which clans exist, how many there are and also to hear a little bit about them through forum discussion. Does anyone else think this would be a good idea? If it has been implemented and just doesn't come up very high on google then please let me know!

    Where is the action nowadays?

    What about the people that end up killing you though? If you're a good enough squad it's anything but boring, it's the most lucrative place on the map, where you can earn your loot through blood and iron! Someone's always winning in order for there to have been a loser :p

    If this comes in they have to make sure you can pick stuff up without putting your gun away and once they introduce the "cancel action" feature then yeah i'd be happy with this. But I don't think it'd be fair if players had to get locked into an animation and defenceless when trying to do this (and this is not just a specific problem, just I think they should only start implementing these extra features when they dont act as yet another unrealistic limitation like the bandaging/eating animations are atm).
  21. They could just ghost to Kamy after killing you and taking it. Your guards will have to try and make sure that anyone who tries to redeem it has to have come from outside the town... but then again, they could just ghost to the woods on the hill after waiting till the timer is nearly up. Difficult :huh:
  22. Hey everyone, I'm interested in what VoIP software others use mostly when playing DayZ with friends / clans. The group I play with tended to use Skype before we were very kindly offered some slots on a TS server, but unforunately not all of them seem to want to move onto TS. From what I've read there are advantages to using TS over Skype so I'm not too sure why they don't all want to make the switch. Anyone got any strong preferences or reasons to use one software over the other? Tatch

    Useful books

    I agree with this but the only thing I have a little issue with is that this is actually more unrealistic in a way - because once the character you used to read this dies, the next one will know what was read in a previous life because the player remembers. I don't think an RPG system would be good but it does make a little more sense in a game where respawning from a fresh start is a central part of the game.

    I do mostly agree with you myself, but just for discussion's sake, isn't PvP a survival technique some would take in the apocalypse? Just think of the cannibals in The Road. That's how they survive - attack, kill and eat other survivors. So in DayZ a lot of people see other players as means of getting loot in order to survive / to stay safe (seek and destroy your threats). So PvPists aren't entirely unrealistic. I can see groups of people hunting down others in a real apocalypse with survival as their core motive. Nonetheless, I do agree that this game needs more PvE (like threatening zeds when this is further down the prod line) which is essentially the primary point, but as said, there is an emphasis on the organic nature of the game and lack of scripted events, and this is when PvP plays its most significant role in DayZ - giving the natural, and pretty realistic danger of other people.

    how to win more gunfights in forests

    Disabling shadows is where it's at in the forest :p makes spotting camo much easier. I don't like doing this though, things don't look so pretty :(
