Hey...I see you....put your hands up.....
Sistinas1973 replied to River Lizard's topic in General Discussion
I don't get all the stories about being held up, raped, force fed rotten fruit, or what have you. I just wouldn't give anyone a chance to get that close. Whether they have a gun out or not. If I did happen to get surprised and the negotions went sour, I will fight them off or make a run for it. Getting gear back is pretty easy, much easier than enduring what some fucktard does to your character while you watch helplessly or be forced to combat log so you can get started again. -
Confirmation of changes. Authentication time out.

I just started receiving this message and getting booted. Has happened on 3 servers now and not sure if it's a server thing, a bug, or something else? Mainly asking to understand what it means, and if there is a way I can fix it to continue playing. Appreciate any advice. Edit: Should I submit a bug report for this? -
My Days so far in the apocalypse (INTENSE STORY)
Sistinas1973 replied to Stattified's topic in New Player Discussion
Haha, I just love how every story like this ends up the same...they killed my friends but I ended up killing the bandits. -
Player trading "safe zones" or creating a trade route would be pretty cool. However, it would flourish or fail soley on the ability of players to act sesensibly and with maturity, both which I feel couldn't possibly exist for any reasonable amount of time. The last thing I want to see is the dev team adding no kill zones to facilitate such a need. We all know they would end up being camp areas for bandits. Two things that I believe would edge players to take trade seriously: 1. Dramatically decrease loot spawn and, 2. Make eveything on a killed player ruined, or at least put in an RNG chance that thier items will be ruined and unusable. This way players will have to seek out one another for supplies, and omit the chance of "I will just kill you and take your stuff."

I give a person 4 seconds to type or talk. You never know, their silence could just be their way of keeping you standing there so his/her buddy can line up a shot. Otherwise, I see no reason to kill non voip'ers. I would imagine many players not having headsets, just speakers. I look at it this way, if they can't talk, they better start typing. You can't shoot me while you are typing, and that actually makes me feel more secure while in a confrontation.

First of all, your thread title insinuates a bounty. You are making a statement, not an inquiry. Second of all, I'm calling out your douche bag behavior to such an asinine post. You come here and essentially trash talk the guy and belittle his playstyle and go as far as asking....insinuating, excuse me, he get hijacked and tortured. Thats not cool at all. It's fucking childish. I'm not against bounties at all. I encourage them. But c'mon man, have a little sense. Bounties should be placed on, oh idk....bandits, KOS' ers, and server hoppers. Not some guy streaming his game experience for the benefit of others.

Not sure about other things, but you can dupe guns/ammo just by having one on your back and one in your hands. Then log out/in. As far as I know, can only work with rifles and axes. And yes, I hope they remove it. I'm getting accustomed to knowing I'll never want for ammo until I getted killed.

The OP is a real douche. What gives you the right to call him out, even worse, call for an open bounty on him? He's playing the game and making a dialogue about it without chastising, insulting, or berating others. His play style is HIS businesses and you have no right to judge or ridicule it. What we should do is take a bounty out on your nosey ass and hunt you over and over, mercilessly just to laugh at you.

Ok, so I'm new around here. Been playing SA for about 2 weeks now. To quickly preface, the first real character I met, meaning someone who has been on a while and was geared up, KOS'ed me from range. I never saw the guy. That was unsettling. Fast forward a few days....I've been heavily reading the forums to get the gist of how everything works in game and of course you can guess I've surmised that you should trust no one, and take no chances. So today, I log in near the NE airfield on a 0/30 pop HC server, which is where I had left off the night before. I decided to make a quick sweep of the airfield before heading west. I pretty much ransacked the whole area. Once I got to the last building, I did a quick check to see if anyone has logged on. 3 people showed up. This took place all within a span of 5 min so if someone was actually here, they were either a server hopper, or someone like me who logged off/back in for another session, coincidentally at the same area....hmmm, really? I passed the notion out of mind and proceeded to head back out of the last building I was in. Well, wouldn't you know, as I exit and turn to the left, I'm face to face with a full military geared out guy. Two thoughts entered my mind as the flash of gun fire erupted from my M4, the first guy to KOS me, and every negative thing I've read on the forum. Suffice to say I sprayed that guy with about 15 rounds. Now, it wasn't the killing of this guy that unnerved me, it was what he said while I took a look at his gear to see what he had. He sounded like a teenager, perhaps 14 to 17 years old and he just kept saying, "no, no, why did you kill me?" Over and over. "Please don't take my stuff" was drumming in my ears as I inspected his corps. I felt so bad (he was almost crying) that I didn't have the heart to take his stuff. He was geared out to the gills, let me tell you so I was pretty sure he was server hopping to gear up. I don't know, I just wanted to say that never have I played an online game and had this type of reaction. I've mainly been playing mmo's for over 15 years and they don't give anything even remotely resembling the rush you get from running into another player/person like you do in DayZ. I ran to the southern building away from the airfield and logged out to contemplate what I had done. I'm sorry dude. Casualty of the apocalypse I guess.

first KOS. I think the forums made me do it!
Sistinas1973 replied to Sistinas1973's topic in General Discussion
You bring up a good point, one I learned early on. Aside from my story above, I play with a buddy. We had to start coordinating and calling out, "exiting from the left," or entering red building to your right." We 've come very close on several occasions almost KOS' ing each other in the heat of the moment, or one of us loosing our bearings and second guessing who that guy is running down the street. -
KOS is a mindset and has absolutely nothing to do with zombies, game mechanics, or boredom. No matter what they add, or change, KOS will remain...as it should. Without those out there making our lives hell and keeping us on our toes, this game would stagnate. As much as I hate getting shot unaware, I would hate even more to have absolutely no reason to watch my back or feel that spike of adrenaline when approaching a town with open doors.

Zombies should come at you running by default. If you hit them in the arm, it should do nothing. If you hit them in the leg, it should hobble them and slow them down, but not stop them. It should take 2 body shots to take them down, or 1 shot to the head to stop them. I think they should also spawn in building on any floor. It would also be nice to see packs. Not large ones, perhaps 4-5 congregating in any one area. Loot should spawn random for a given location and degrade over time if it sits with no one looting. After a predetermined time, it should despawn and something else from the loot table take its place. Everything outside of military gear should have a chance to spawn at any structure location. It only took about 5 hrs to figure out many structures are not worth going into. I think when you come upon a structure you should want to check it out, not simply go to specific buildings because spawns are currently static. Server hopping should be limited to 24 hrs real time. I will reserve further comments on this because they deal with later additions to the game and are not worth mentioning yet. However, what has been mentioned would greatly improve the sense of immersion as I see it after just over 2 weeks of playing.

Been around 12 non consecutive hrs with no human contact. This with having been to Electro and Cherno, as well as an airfield and military base. Have seen up to 15 people on the server I play on but haven't run across them yet. Might be about time to head back coast side. I'm stuffed to the gills on guns and ammo and will probably pass some on to a few fresh spawns.

As if you can distinguish between server hoppers and legitimate players just trying to survive. Another KOS douche with no rhyme or reason other than to troll whatever server you happen to log on to for the day.

I thought hardcore and regular servers had seperate characters?

Hard core simply means first person view only. -
How do you deal with playing lone-wolf?
Sistinas1973 replied to Apocrypha8's topic in General Discussion
I have been playing about a week now. I run with a friend but many times we can't hook up so I go it solo. What I've observed so far: At respawn, no real sense of fear from players since if they kos, you got nothing to lose. High sense of paranoia from zeds until you get an axe or firearm, then they become a non issue. It's when you get some decent gear where the real fear of people takes over. When I have gear I'm scared to solo due to everyone kos' ing everything that moves. So for me, playing and wether or not I go solo depends on what stage I'm in as described above. -
loading in unconscious/dead even on 0 pop servers.
Sistinas1973 posted a topic in New Player Discussion
I just started playing 3 days ago and more often than not, I log into a server and I'm unconscious or dead. Even when I try to log into 0 pop servers, I end up the same way. I just wan't to understand what's going on. Is this a known bug due to Alpha? I keep trying on many different servers with the same result.
