Been playing on Experimental for a week now and today there seems to be no servers listed for play. Stable servers are there, but they are X'ed out (as they've been ever since I switched to experimental). I have yet to encounter maintenance, but is that how they do it...remove all experimental servers until it's done? If not, then any idea why they are no longer listed? Second, as I still want to play, I cannot switch back to stable. When I go to the betas tab the drop down box to choose experimental/stable is locked on experimental. I read I am supposed to use the drop down menu, pick stable, then re-download the file again.

well I guess you can't do that while the game is loaded. I had Dayz up in the background and didn't realize it. When I exited out, then went back into steam, it let me opt out....if anyone else cares to know. Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the directions on how to opt out, however, as I previously mentioned, that drop down menu isn't working on my client.

Sorry about this post. I didn't think this was an issue so I jumped the gun and posted before scrolling through the forums. However, I still have that problem with opt'ing out and switching over. Maybe no DayZ this weekend. To hell.

Eh, I made a thread about this before I saw what was happening from the forums. For me they are all down, but can't switch back to stable to play over there either.

1. I take it this is not maintenance due to the responses 2. restarting my computer doesn't change the server status when I log in, as I tried this per your suggestion 3. Not that there is no option for "opt out of beta," just that the drop down menu won't give me any options to choose from. It seems stuck and won't function. The box that says: "select a beta you would like to opt into" reads: "experimental-preview testing version." the drop down menu won't allow me to remove/change it.

Play each session as if it was your last. As you can see, you could get a wipe for no reason whatsoever. Don't go in and "prepare" to play. Go in and play.

When someone desyncs they do not appear to flash on and off the screen. Their movement is continual, either frozen in place, or continuing what they were doing, but no information is registering, eg, you shoot him repeatedly but he appears to not be effected. The guy in the video was clearly teleporting from position to position. It was a hack if I ever saw one.

I agree, and have paid the price for not heeding good advice, or self made mistakes...like this one for example. I was on top of the police building in Staroye (spell?) Scouting the scenery while my buddy approached. He aggros 3 zombies and I decide to walk near the edge of the roof top so shoot them. This, despite the voice in my head telling me not to as I could path off the edge, and 2 seconds later I'm yelling at my screen as I then have to spend 5 minutes running back to my corps.

Oh shit, I started laughing so hard imagining that scenario as he said, "welcome to DayZ" bitch. Almost makes me wish I received such an introduction.

Every other game, I go with a female for the same reasons already posted. However, in a game where having ingame voice can literally be the difference between life and death, if the voice doesn't match the gender, your getting a face full of buck shot for ruining my immersion.

I agree with the concept here, and it would be a nice addition to the overall scope of the game, but unfortunately, bad players are bad and will continue to entertain us with their shenanigans. There is plenty enough reason to care about your character, and people that play this game with sense know this. The KOSers, COD death match wannabes, and bambi suiciders will never cease. You all do realize this, right? I believe these people are needed to keep the game alive and to keep players on guard. If not, no one would be forced to venture north of Electro. And I wouldn't have the intense sense of worry, fear, and doubt each time I come across a town out in the middle of nowhere.

Yea, aren't those one of the new buildings? If you can find one untouched, they are usually packed with loot and most always have at least one kind of weapon with matching ammo inside.

Inland doesn't mean 1000m off the coast, it means trekking 5-10 minutes north or west to start finding unlooted areas. I've learned over the past few weeks that there is absolutely no point in going to any coastal town, especially large ones like Berazino, electro, ect unless you want to get KOS'ed or waste an hour looking over empty cans of beans until you get KOS'ed. Make a B line for the interior as a freshie and don't look back. Only once you're geared will I say venture back into those areas...for some target practice.

woa, woa, how do you have so many experimental servers to choose from? I only have access to about 8 HC and 12-15 public.

I am on experimental. I knelt down to drink from a pond and my guy got stuck in a glitch. it's some kind of vertical rubberbanding. the environment is normal, but my guy is "bouncing" up and down. I can preform all actions (change weapons, eat, drink) but I just can't move my character. He's frozen. Any idea on how to get out of it? I've tried logging into other servers, restarting the game, even shutting down my computer but every time i log back in, he's in this glitch.

I got him out. I had to double tap W and hit V at the same time. Once I got him out, I turned around and got him stuck in the same place again. logged out, switched severs, then spammed same sequence and it worked. This was at a small pond. I'll submit a bug report on it.

I know on stable, bleeding in often rare from zombie attacks. I've been playing on experimental for the past week and It seems to be a 90/10 chance you will get "bleeding" if a zombie gets a hit on you. I've died a lot from that shit before I was able to get an ax or firearm. Lately I've been stocking up on bandages more than food/drink because of it.

If anything this map is too small, way too small. I can traverse east/west or north/south in 1-2 hours. And sure as shit, no matter when or where I log in, even when there are only 3/40 people on, I run into another player.

I do think the way you have it set in the video looks bad ass, and THAT, imo, is how the devs should make the night look without having to adjust anything. Nothing wrong for what you are doing, nothing at all. that grayed out look look is creepy as hell and fits the theme of the game.

I presume you are filtering the gamma setting? If this was how night actually looked, I would play more during that time. Otherwise, it's just too dark and more frustrating than what it should be. Not being able to see 2 feet in front of you is overkill. I am hoping they adjust night time brightness by release. But for now, I'm not going to adjust the settings to give me an advantage.

I would be much more inclined to strike up a convo with someone kit'ed like that. However, those bright cloths make you a moving target for snipers. My current set up is more of a tactical one. I'm at work so can't post a pic: Black cargo pants, gloves, baseball cap, aviators. Black tac vest, combat boots. No pack. M4 and FNX

I believe they just need to add comparable weapons/gear in other places, nullifying the need for everyone to focus military areas. Those items should be more or less cosmetic choices rather than the sole method to kit out. Also randomizing item spawn rather than set to server reset would go a long way. Most players can easily figure out when to hop where to get first dibs.

Good shit man. This is how you sandbox. I may take you on one of these days but, I'm still a bit green...for now.
