Quick And Simple Camo From The Go
Sistinas1973 replied to TheHuntsMan87's topic in General Discussion
When you log in, instead of pressing play, or change server, press character. Set him/her how you want, then save as default and it will load that make up each time you respawn. -
considering you only have 2 shots with a shot gun, it's easy to say he simply missed. If you are not at point blank range, and the target is not moving, and he knew how to shoot, you'd probably be dead. I don't think the "spread" you would expect from a shotgun registers in the game yet. I believe it detects the target like any other single round shot. I've seen people completely dodge shots just by weaving back and forth in erratic patterns. Hell, I've had zeds get right up in my face after missing them from point blank range with a 357 or FNX. Your reticle has to be on them, or within the circumference of the silhouette to land the shot, and surprisingly, that isn't easy when the target is moving, even slightly.

As the current state of the game stands, if you want a challenge, per say, simply log into a 39/40 pop server. I guarantee, 90% of the people who complain that they get geared up in 30 min are those that log on to low pop servers. Of course you will gear up fast. Try logging into the ONLY HC server on experimental atm. Yea, see how long you go until you starve of hunger and die. Don't placate your grievances with complaint threads about how easy the game is and troll about why you "should" be playing Dayz. Play the game for what it is, and if you want to play it in accordance to your lack of "challenge," then get on those high pop, non 2 hr resets and then get back to us.

This isn't the topic section for bugs so if you wan't to report them, go to the right section. Those status messages are there for your protection. Everything that pertains to them isn't 100% implemented at this time. Once they are, you will need to respond to them accordingly. What I think is hilarious is my buddy that I play with. He always talks out loud on our skype about the messages. he's always saying shit like, "ugh, yea, I know my guy is wet...I know my guy is hungry...fuck." It's quite hilarious to listen to.

I've yet to get a second chance, let alone a first. "clack, clack..." you are dead. Must be some really piss poor shooters you encountered.

Hunger Isn't an issue. And it should be,
Sistinas1973 replied to 4AcrossIsEmu's topic in General Discussion
One thing to keep in mind, which has been touched on in this thread, is that everything in the game is still exaggerated for us to keep testing. Food, weapons, ect should all see a major decrease as time goes on and the game gets closer to release. I hear what your saying, and agree. I just hope these things do become more scarce as the builds get implemented. -
Put it back....lootable bodys after ten minutes
Sistinas1973 replied to vipereye's topic in General Discussion
I like the idea of bodies decaying over time with changing effects (decomposition). It would be really cool to wander upon a corpse and see flies buzzing around it and trying to determine how long its been there based on its condition. However, I do not agree on this 1-2 or even permanent stasis. 30 min at most. -
Well I have to say, I haven't even had a chance to have trust issues, as I've been killed 4 times since I began playing a month ago and each and every one was by some KOS before I had the chance to say hello.

Something about acquiring loot in this game is seriously addictive (to me). Although I know I can only get the same items over and over, it's exciting "looking" for items in buildings while fending off zombies and potentially other people. An age old complaint by many mmo'ers in many other games center around why you can't go into most buildings and simply pick stuff up. This game is far from being a "grind."

Duping, Server Hopping, and Exploiting- The Mild Cases and the Bad Cases
Sistinas1973 replied to hannibaldaplaya's topic in General Discussion
I agree, not everyone is bad. I guess it depends on why you are doing what you are doing. Like you said, hopping just to kill freshies or pray on people in cities is a dick move. Although I am glad the weapon dupe is no more, I did it when it was active. I play with a buddy and when one of us found a mosin, we'd dupe it for the other person and that was the extent of it. As far as server hoppers to gear up, that really is a slippery slope. For example, I don't normally do it, but if I'm doing my thing and some KOS tard kills me without even saying hello, I just may hop a server or two to get "essential" supplies back. I don't hop just to get weapons, ammo, and military gear. I rather like the gearing up process and will normally just scrounge and be happy with it. The problem with duping/hopping is that if you start to depend on it, you really demoralize the idea of the game and sacrifice your own game play to keep doing it. -
I get kos on both. The only thing I would add is I believe less kiddos are on HC.

For anyone who missed the EGX Rezzed I Summerised The New DayZ Roadmap
Sistinas1973 replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Having companion pets is a bit of a stretch that I agree should not be a part of this game. Why would you even want one walking around you and most likely giving away your position? I second the option to KOS them. Many sad pandas soon to be heard crying out on the forums because some bandit shot their dog. -
Who the fuck is Frankie?

@Dean Hall, you didn't touch much on character customization!
Sistinas1973 replied to extremenuggets's topic in General Discussion
real image import? hair that grows over time? WTF get real. Where is there a single mmo EVER created that has such optimization? Not a single one. No need to reach for the moon here. I would like to see a simple gender differentiation option. Different hair styles, colors, and facial hair for men. Maybe let us slide scale things like eye shape, jaw, lips, ect. But I'd be perfectly happy with say, 10-15 different pre determined options to choose from. Someone asking in the live stream about character import was a complete waste of Deans time. -
I started to sympathize with the OP until he kept going on and on, taking the defensive route rather than the informed one. All of your complaints are why people play this game. Challenging encounters between other human beings are what should drive you to continue on. Every encounter is a learning experience, and encounters are so varied, you always have to think your way out of a situation. You count your victories with each successful encounter, not how many times you got bested. You just have a poor outlook on the game.

Are we all playing the same game here? Played last night for 3+ hrs and didn't see or run into any of the so called "problems" discussed in this thread. I admit, I killed more zeds last night than the rest of my Alpha time combined, however, they were still relatively easy to deal with. First time having to fend off 3 or more in a stand off, but they are still 1 shot kills with an ax. They are the threat I believe the majority of the people have been looking for, my self included. You can still sneak past/around them so I don't understand why many of you talk about these "ran down by zombie horde, 1 shot bleed to death, endless wave of spawns" encounters are coming from. Of course, I'm not the one running down main st in Elektro firing off my .22 at everything that moves. I will confirm that there are certain ones that can run you down if you have a weapon out as you sprint. I ran into 5 or 6 of this type last night and had to either stop and kill it, or find cover to LOS it. With this patch, I ended my session fearing zeds over people for sure. Not once did I fire my weapons (sks and 357) due to what I've heard about how they re spawn and aggro to fired shots. With that in mind, I'm getting good with the axe. Once you are hydrated, energized, and healing, your risk of getting bled on the first hit go down dramatically. I hope this is what they roll with. Edit: They have changed my whole approach to the game, what I find important to use (loot priority) and what types of encounters I try to create for myself because of this beefed up zed increase. No, I don't believe you'll have to ban together to loot cities, but you definitely have to adjust your play style to accommodate the zeds.

From some videos I've watched with true long range snipers, simply count your blessings upon a safe session. These people can be so damn far away and still make contact. You would never see or sneak up on them unless it was happenstance. Never activity looking will allow you to detect them before they spot you.

Did he talk during the first encounter? I am picturing him doing that in total silence. The calm of watching him eat your beans in front of you, then slowly back out must have been intense, or at least make you inquire who he was. Similar to when you see somone on a crowded street and something about them makes you wonder who they are and what their life is like.

What is your Dayz experience level as far as time goes?
Sistinas1973 replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
I come from a mmo back ground. Games like Everquest, Star Wars Galaxies, Final Fantasy XI, ect. For me, two perspectives keep me logging in. 1. Accessibility. With no arbitrary stats to worry about, and that fleeting feeling of grinding for days and weeks for end game gear that you know will be worthless when the next patch hits. Dayz lets you get in and play from the get go. I consider stats replaced with some food, water, and a Mosin. 2. Human interactions. In traditional mmo's interacting with players is too carefree and uninteresting. Even the pvp, because it centralized and short lived, leaves a sense of longing after a while. Interactions with people in Dayz are intense and unabridged. Imo it truely defines immersion because you can't help second guessing what will transpire whenever you encounter anyone. I could elaborate, but you all understand the intensity this game projects on the psyche. -
Would You Balance The M4 and How / Bow and Arrow Discussion?
Sistinas1973 replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
C'mon now, all that firepower with a 60 round mag, there has to be some consequence. Tuning th accuracy, maybe, but dampening the recoil will only turn it into the go to weapon for most players. And we already have too much of that go to mentality with the rest of the military gear. Bows, and especially cross bows, are going to add a well deserved flavor to the game. Not much really to say about them, thier benefits are obvious. I predict, if they work correctly and are what I presume will be compound, will quickly become a favored weapon. Really hoping we get a back display quiver. -
I have a suggestive/explict dayz themed experience that I'm dying to share

Is there a current list of loot spawn locations?
Sistinas1973 replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
This is why I advocate for random spawn locations, or in the least, have loot spawn in every building. Just hate it when I come across a small town and quicly realize some guy looted X buildings and moved on, leaving the rest of them untouched. Aside from mulitary bases, since that loot should stay at those locations, everything else should be random, not found only at schools, police stations, fire stations, and factories. -
Bandits, Bandits, Bandits; everyone gets a Bandit!
Sistinas1973 replied to pacific_coast's topic in General Discussion
You left out the part of the definition which classifies a bandit as a murderer as well. Imo, the word bandit should be removed from dayz and replaced with robber, as they are more inclined to let you live. A murderer needs no excuse. -
Will DayZ SA die out to Mods just like the Mod did?
Sistinas1973 replied to cywehner1234's topic in General Discussion
Isn't the hole point of making this game stand alone to eliminate the ability to mod? Have the devs actually said it will be modable after release, or do you all just presume this based on its history? The only reason I can fathom to make it stand alone with the ability to mod is for the cash grab they are getting now. Otherwise, why not just enhance the existing mod? -
There is one...sort of, which lays out their methodology for what they are doing and what they consider beta, early access, ect. Someome posted it in retort to a whiner post a few days ago so check out a few of those. In it, they said they would release a similar timeline of development, but it was yet to be determined.
