Meat Drapes

I had my character geared up exactly the way I wanted him. Took so many tries to get him that way.. Was messing around with persistance and dropping things and picking them up over a few days in a very remote location....just messing with the game and pressing different buttons and trying to learn when I accidentally committed suicide. Shot myself with my AK 74 that had a mag and 30 rds. That was really fun.

Not for a lack of trying but I have yet to kill anyone in this game. I focus more on survival and staying isolated. However I seem to find the other players on the server even if there are only 3 people on and I am nearly always killed. Today I shot someone THREE times trying to survive. I saw the impacts as I shot him with a mosin in the torso. He still came at me. It was a rather pathetic encounter. I ended up running away to stay alive as I didnt think I could take him out. He did not have any body armor and looked pretty normal. What did I do wrong?

Excellent. Thanks for the replies and not entirely unexpected. One step at a time and Im sure once implemented let the hoarding begin. Ill test things anyway and if it goes away Ill get more. And for the record... this game is amazing.

So I am thinking of estsablishing a base of operations to use for myself/friends to launch raids and basic runs for supplies. My question is: once I begin to take things off my person and organize my stash will it remain in place during server resets... or for any length of time? Just trying to generate a little realism and see how long I can keep my guy alive. So far I have been able to run around for a couple weeks. And thanks to a server hopper I killed I have rediculous gear. Ideally I would like to set my character up with a few load-outs for differing missions. Any thoughts?

Nice reply. This game to me should be about survival. I love the direction I see it could take. Of course the scavanging will be exciting but to make it more so the items in question should be RARE. And crafting ... more capabilities and complexity would be nice to see implemented ( if possible). Personally I see an end state and regardless of my perception, I think that I can find what I want to enjoy it all the way to being live or whatever. I am actually looking at this from a real world perspective. To include the retarded bahavior that I would expect to find if something along these lines happens.

The server is regular. And a 'toon' is how I refer to my player. Dont we have to be on the same server?

I am at the Balota AF. Had been wandering around. Came out of the mountains to interact a little and got shot 3 times immedietly. I was bleeding and my toon passed out. Figured I would die. So I let him rot to see how long I would lay there. 17+ hours seems like a long time. I have died of starvation much faster than this. Anyone else have a similar experience or know how long it takes to bleed out? I dont want to just 'kill' myself off as that defeats the purpose of finding out of there is a problem..

Went ahead and headed inland to a city to interact after 3 days of running around collecting things to survive.. Promptly shot three times within minutes of arriving and left unconscious( LOL) And while I expect this behavior what I question is how long does my toon remain unconsious? Its been 50 minutes. He should have bled to death by now. I die faster when I starve.

Im in the same boat. My instict is that I want to help the bambis get firm footing so they too can sirvive. But reading the ways peeps treat one another leads me to believe this may be futile. The thing that I find VERY INTERESTING,,,,, the realism. Here we have humanity acting how they would probably act. All manner of attitudes and behaiviors. I find this game is going to be AMAZING!! I totally love it.

This game has all of the tangibles I have desired in a game in some time. I truly look forward to helping it become something potentially amazing. However I dont understand why I was killed by a guy in his underwear ( straight beat the crap outta me) while his buddy with an M4 watched. Though for realism.... it was excellent. though creepy.
