Approximate percentage of female DayZ players
Nicko2580 replied to elLoCo's topic in General Discussion
You'd be surprised just how many immature adults there are. I'd bet you there's as many immature 25 year olds in games like this as there are 12 year olds. -
Lots of geared players on the coast, not just bambi's. Everyone's always looking for spare M4 mags, especially 60's. People who have nothing get bodyguarded or I just give them spare supplies if I can't be assed guarding them or am heading the opposite direction.
-
Yeah I get that. I am cautious and have a shoot first mentality at the airfields too for the most part. If I got the drop on someone though I'd likely talk to them first. I'm just saying that if you had the drop on me and gave me the chance instead of just shooting me through the window, it's likely that I'd share what I'd already looted last time I logged in and leave you to loot the rest. :p I mostly go there looking for stuff to trade, rather than keep for myself. I always have a few M4 parts, a scope, some mags, ammo etc. My plan is usually to head back to the coast to trade and bodyguard bambi's.

No I mean I was forced to log out by issues in real life. If I had time I would go outside the base and hide out in the scrub somewhere before logging off, as usual, but that's not always an option. Just a bit lame that you'd just pop me under the assumption that I am doing something wrong rather than find out. If I was a legit server hopper it's likely I'd shoot at you first anyway, but if you just asked I'd be quite friendly.
-
First, it's not a 'one hit game'. It's close but it's not one hit. Last time I got shot it took three Mosin rounds to put me down. Second if it were, then it wouldn't matter what the weapons were. They'd all be equally deadly. One bullet from a Mosin would be identical to one bullet from a M4 and fire rate would be irrelevant to accuracy.
-
Why do you assume that's a server hopper? I was forced to log out the other day in one of the barracks. Just because I log back in I get shot as a server hopper?
-
I really hope they don't make firearms in general too rare though. Shotguns and hunting rifles and some pistols should be uncommon, not rare. Military loot definitely rare.

Why Were The Zombies Changed So Drastically Between Now And August?
Nicko2580 replied to King of kong's topic in General Discussion
Re-writing the AI I believe. -
So again, you're complaining about a weapon that a scrub couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with and only managed to kill you with what sounds like luck? I'm not sensing a compelling argument for modifying the M4 here. And no, before you accuse me of being an M4 kid, I use the Blaze or the Mosin. I collect M4 parts and trade them down on the coast, but I don't use them myself.

It'd be pretty damn easy to make it so your own characters could not interact or share loot. Just apply a tag to the loot that disallows it being shared to any characters on the same account, even if you hand it off to another player first. If they did that would anyone then have a problem with it?
-
My opinion is that if the guy fired over 600 rounds (10x30 = 300 + 5x60 = 600) at you and you couldn't kill him, the problem is your own.

I believe most of the animations are placeholders at the moment. At minimum I'd like to see you tear open the packet (not actually, but just a tearing type animation) on the first consumption. After that the animation could stay as it is now.

To people who think kiling bambis is wrong check this out
Nicko2580 replied to Slyguy65's topic in General Discussion
I think that's what he wants us to think. I think he's really just scared he'll get shot if he heads up to the NWAF and tries out his 'target practice' on some real targets. -

Bull. Better to kill people who haven't got anything and have just fresh spawned than kill people who actually have a chance at defending themselves? The only advantage killing bambi's gives you is they have no armour. Sounds like you're scared you'll miss the second shot at a fully geared player and get blasted in return. :P -
I'd be keen to see all sorts of different holsters. I'd like to keep a .38 special tucked into my boot as a holdout.

The first part I don't agree with Dean at all (but it's his game, my opinion doesn't matter to him, obviously). I will end up leaving this game if I see people grinding skills. The moment it happens I'll get bored and stop playing and go back to something like State of Decay which is a survival game with skills done better than DayZ ever will be. The repair stuff is different. It only adds value to the game and likely won't be grindable because of the scarcity (I hope) of things to repair.

Would ingame currency have a place in DayZ?
Nicko2580 replied to Jaxis's topic in General Discussion
I believe currency will develop naturally as the game progresses. I have a sneaking suspicion that ammunition will become the currency of choice across DayZ once scarcity and long term goals are implemented. -
There's usually more players in Cherno on the servers I play on. PvP is pretty common, especially people sniping freshies. I just loaded up on gear up north and plan on heading back to bodyguard a few bambi's and counter-snipe a few murderers.
-
Again, there will always be a 'best' set of skills and people will just suicide over and over until they get the set that's best. It's like rolling your stats for a new character in D&D. You keep rolling until you get a high score for your primary attribute and decent scores for your secondaries.
-
And we don't need that in DayZ. I say abused because the moment it is implemented you will find the best statistical combination of skills (and one will exist, you can't stop that) posted somewhere and that will be what everyone uses. It's inevitable. For proof look at any game with skills or attribute points or feats or whatever. You'll find the best build relatively quickly with a quick Google search. Thus turning DayZ into yet another generic number cruncher. I don't want to worry about skills when I play this game. It's immersion breaking. DayZ should be about player skill only, not arbitrary systems that decide what we're good at based on numbers.

Another idea, probably far-fetched though

No bloodlust here. See my sig. But I won't hesitate to put you down if your posture is threatening.

As in every postapo world Zombies should get dmg only from headshots/headhits.
Nicko2580 replied to mpm470's topic in Suggestions
You're forgetting that they plan to make zombies appear in bigger hordes and do a lot more damage. More than 3 and you're going to be in a bit of trouble if you don't have a projectile weapon. Without reasonably common weapons (a little less than now) looting a city will be exceptionally hard. -

Nicko2580 replied to mpm470's topic in Suggestions
I am on the fence about this. Forgetting lore for a minute (and the fact that plenty of other fiction with 'infected human' type zombies still require headshots) making zombies headshot only does three things: Makes them far more threatening and difficult. Makes players need to consider the approach to everything more. Rewards players who work to improve their accuracy. However, if they're going to go this route, then I think that guns should stay reasonably common. It's a trade off.
