    Lol yeah I thought of that, that's why I won't be leaving them in obvious places. I'll put them in houses, and in the factories on the outskirts of towns. Places where the freshie will likely explore but will feel a bit safer than if they saw a cache sitting the middle of the street. :p

    There's a known bug in that area at the moment, so I believe. I tend to head to the NWAF, Vybor and Lopatino anyway... Seems to be less heat in that direction on the servers I play on.

    I hate that motorbike helmet. It's the ugliest thing in the game! :p I prefer to run around with a cap or beanie and then switch to a ballistic helmet if I'm expecting trouble. But yeah, I get why you'd wear it in that situation. I plan on leaving caches of stuff in some of the outskirts of towns on the coast, rather than helping freshies directly. A canteen, some cans & something to open them with, a melee weapon or a pistol and a few rounds if I can spare it and a little note. The note will have the line from my signature, plus I'll let them know where they are (for the really fresh guys who haven't played much) and a tip to head inland.

    I have just met players

    Had four great encounters with people last night. Two guys in the NWAF. Just walked up and said Hi and Friendly and then we chatted for a while. So much for being an always KoS zone. I was armed too. Two noobs in Elektro, one of whom I saved from zombies. Gave them some food and some tips on where to scavenge the good stuff. And then finally a 4 on 1 shootout with some bandits on the outskirts of Elektro (posted a full story about it in general discussion). I got killed but not before taking one of them with me and making them work for it. Healthy new respect for the SKS after that fight.

    Doors With Noise Do You Want It

    Guh, I would hate it if the doors open just by walking into them. That's just a personal thing though, I hate that in most games! :p Doors definitely need opening and closing noises and as DeatHTaX said, the ability to open them slowly and peek through or lead through weapon first would also be very cool. At minimum I think there needs to be a 'open slowly' option for the times when you're stealthing, otherwise every door becomes an instant alarm.

    I don't think there's any reason to call "Alpha" on the OP. He's simply suggesting some ideas in a suggestion forum, not complaining or ranting or being a dick. The suggestion forum is here for the purpose of making suggestions, after all.

    Your sins are forgiven Very Ape. John Doe was undoubtedly one of them and putting him down... 'twas the right call. Can't be in the middle of a gunfight and nursing prisoners anyway. Safest and quickest to dispose of prisoners and concentrate on the would be murderers and thus, John Doe had to die. The murder of Dave was unfortunate. Dave was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Dave had the supplies needed to save Patricks life and was injured anyway. Very Ape had to choose between his friend Patrick and the unfortunate Dave. A hard choice, but Very Ape didn't know Dave from a bar of soap. A bullet was Dave's friend that day.

    Make sure you file a bug report for the Sawed-off issue. Sounds like some sort of issue with those click loaders you find. Is that how you loaded it originally?

    The reason it feels very alpha is because it's a damn alpha. They need to get everything into the game before they bugfix it... it's simple logic - every new thing they add is going to break something else, so why spend time fixing shit before everything is in? So they can fix it again when some new addition breaks it? No. You put the content in first, you get the core mechanics working (which they are, otherwise you wouldn't have been able to spend 80 hours playing) and then you debug like crazy before release. Btw 80 hours is what some full triple A titles get in terms of gameplay. The fact that you can play 80 hours in an fucking ALPHA speaks serious volumes about the quality of what is there already.

    What to carry?

    I agree, either drop the weapons or head down to the coast and pass them on to freshies. If you can find a piece of paper leave a little note with them - "From CloaknDagger, with love!" :P At max I will carry three weapons - My primary, a sidearm, and a holdout. The sidearm I will only carry if I can find a chest holster for it, otherwise it's just taking up space in my pack. The holdout is a Sawed-Off with one stack of 15 shells. That's there so that if I am made to put down my primary for any reason, no one will know that I'm holding the shotgun until it's too late. All it takes is one mistake on their behalf (not cuffing me, turning away from me, opening their inventory, whatever) and they're getting a face full of buckshot. If I do have extra weapons on me it's because I am doing exactly what I said in the first paragraph of this post. :)

    2 - 3 hours after work... Haven't had a chance to have a longer session than that yet, but when I do I can guarantee you it will be 12+ hours. :P

    Yes those are also my two biggest fears. I really want DayZ to be difficult on multiple levels. Any time something is introduced to dumb it down it will lessen my interest in the game. However with Dean now stating that skills are probably going to make an appearance, even in passive form, I fear we're soon going to see at least some form of grinding. That's really going to break immersion for me personally and could result in me leaving the game, depending on how it's implemented. It will be 'mathed out' as you say within a week of skills being implemented, if they don't do it right.

    Well, I consider the inner monologue to be in my head, since I am playing the survivor. That's kind of the point. I would like the text to stay more than I would like icons to be implemented (because I am an old school text base MUD player, so that makes sense to me :P ) but preferably having them all removed would be best. The thing I don't want most is to just be able to flick open my inventory and see all my statuses. It makes it seem like I don't have to pay attention to details. But what this thread is for is to gauge roughly how people feel and for them to put their own ideas down as well. Hopefully with enough comments the devs will at least take a peek in here and they can poach anything they feel like. That's all. And the poll is there to give everyone a feel for the major themes running through most players minds when they play DayZ. If the visual/audio cues are distinct from each other, it shouldn't be very hard to model a bunch of different things (see a few posts in this thread for some great ideas from people). As I've said a few times, the energy and hydration meters are about the only two that would have to stay. As for noobs learning... well this is DayZ, not COD. A steep learning curve should be expected here I feel.
  18. Binocs would want to zoom a shitload more than the current zoom. I'd be hoping for a minimum of 7x50. The current zoom isn't even zoom. It's supposed to represent the natural ability of your eyes to focus on distant objects. There's another thread about this in gen discussion already that explains it better.

    And the thing is, I'm quite often forced into low pop servers simply because they're the only ones that appear in my list. I'll always take a high pop server if it's available, but when i've been sitting refreshing the server list for 10 minutes and I'm getting the same three servers with 4/5 people on them ever time... I'm just gonna take it. You couldn't consider that loot hopping, surely? Reported this as a bug, which is definitely is because I know there are a lot more servers. Playing at the same time every night - some nights there's 50+ servers and others there's 1? I don't think so. :P

    lol I don't know how I feel about this post. On one hand, I feel like you're doing a public service shooting server hoppers. On the other, you're likely netting a lot of innocent victims (I doubt it's 98% hoppers. Doubt it highly)

    I plan to leave little stashes of loot around the coast, hidden in buildings with a note that says the same as my signature. Just a canteen, couple of cans of food and something to open it with and maybe a melee weapon or a spare pistol + a few rounds if I have one.
  23. Nah man, just don't stay on the coast on a high pop server. Don't be a pussy and gear up on low pop servers! :p Pretty easy to find loot if you just head inland straight away. Even small cities like Novoselky and Dubky right next to Cherno usually still have good stuff left in them.
