    Make DayZ more intense/more thoughtful

I think bow and arrows are a good idea. However, they should be only part of the "crafting system". I would really love to pick up an axe, go to a dense forest and start logging trees to craft a bow and arrows, kill chickens for their feathers, and hack cattles for their hide which will used to string bows. I still wonder why they haven't fixed the knife-makes-gun-sound-issue.

    Start with knife

Starting with a knife is a terrible idea. What will be the point of picking up a screw driver or any item that is mostly worthless but able to open cans of food when there's a knife, presumably of pristine condition? Why pick up a baseball bat to whack a zombie when one could just go behind and stab it with a knife? why punch when there's a knife?

    DayZ Steam Badges?

I am curious as to why this isn't in the Suggestions thread. Hopefully nonetheless, the awesome guys in the DayZ creative team had considered this. Seeing trading cards for the Dayz standalone game would be beneficial for card traders, and it also raises the game's profile, extending its existence into unknown and small circles. I stumbled on some games I've never heard of while browsing for trading cards and suprisingly, some of them were pretty fun.

    Milk and Poison

I think it is time to add clutter and junk to the world of Чернорусь to which players can get creative with them. Some ideas · Already there is rocks but I never figured out what they're for. If we're able to make fire or kill someone (by throwing) with it, that'll be awesome. · Rotten milk. I'm sure someone is desperate enough to drink it. Surprised that no supermarkets stock them. · Rat poison. I've raided countless supermarkets but haven't seen a single one. Imagine adding this to a lake, bottle or something drinkable only to watch someone die from it. I think female gamers would love this. · Rat traps (6). Hard to see when deployed and makes a load snap when stepped on. Very useful to inform those scavenging upstairs that there's an intruder downstairs somewhere. · More clothes in the game. Surprising that there's no dresses ingame even though there are some, perhaps over a hundred female gamers. Perhaps Mr. Rocket the awesome should hire a designer? By the way, where's my AK47?

    Kits

The sewing kit and weapon cleaning kit being brought in was actually a great idea but the way they currently work isn't that good and needs to be improved. Sewing kit · Sewing kit drop rate should be reduced to allow room for future items. Sewing kit: common > uncommon. · Sewing kit should always spawn pristine or worn. Russians are known to be old schools and keep their little tools polished and in great conditions. Americans on the contrary, well, their tools are usually filled with webs and rust. My stepfater (American) has a 6ish year old BMW sports car and the condition he left it in is pretty bad. Scratches, web, rust, you name it. My friend's Russian father has a one of those 20ish year old cars and the condition, from what he told me is like new. · Sewing kit has the ability to repair items to pristine at the cost of only having a few uses. I found two pristine sewing kits at some point, repaired a damaged cargo pants once, the condition is now worn. I then proceeded to repair it again, no difference. In the end, I used up both sewing kits and I still have a worn cargo pants instead of a pristine one. Weapon cleaning kit · Weapon cleaning kit should be renamed to weapon repair kit. · Weapon repair kit drop rate common > uncommon. · Weapon repair kit should always spawn pristine or worn. · Weapon repair kit can repair or clean all sorts of weapons from axes to pistols and rifles but the uses are very limited and the process often takes time (a long animation plays).

    Server Jumping

Server Jumping/hopping/farming the process of leaving a server after looting military equipment in the surrounding area and doing it again in another server, again and again. The current system which was implemented not long ago is actually a small improvement but to some extent, it encourages more "server jumpers", especially from players abroad. I think it needs to be worked on. Some ideas to discourage or further delay hoppers: · A ten minute waiting penalty applied to players who stay in a server for more than one minute. If they decide to switch to a new server, the penalty will kick in and they now must wait ten minutes. This way, it doesn't penalise those who jump servers not to farm but because of other issues such as server stating it is daylight and even the time is indicated to be but isn't or misclicked when intended to join a server because a friend is in it., etc. · Players are not able to join servers with more than 100ms. However, they can if a friend within said server sends them an invitation. · Several areas of the map and some military installations are radiated which makes looting impossible without a gas mask and filter. · Much more infected soldiers in and around military installations and they are stronger + faster. Even though they are wearing kevlar and helmet, it feels unrealistic they drop after a pistol bullet to the chest, like infected civilians. · More one carries, the slower one moves. I once had a huge backpack filled with junk and was carrying an axe, pistol, and m4, sprinting to the next village along a friend and our speeds were very much the same when realistically, I should be x4 times slower or forced to take breaks in between. I kind wondered why they never implemented an exhausted status. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Backstory I have been playing DayZ since its release and for a considerable amount of time, I hardly ever see players from abroad (easily determined by their massive latency/ping when checking the amount of players) until the patch that brought in "wait a few minutes before you can join a new server". These hoppers appear then disappear after 5-10mins. Two days ago, there was no one in the server but me so I was relatively safe, the server was quiet for an hour and later on, I stumbled on a military base near the beach and started looting. I got some decent equipment and a magnum but no ammo so I decided to head west, to the next military base which was closest, hoping to get some ammo for my revolver. A little while later, people started showing up, all with high latency. There was about 4-6 people and as far as I remember, all had high ping; around 300. I had a gut feeling someone would be back at the military base I was at so I headed back, hoping to kill these foreigners to teach them not to steal from our soil. I had a wench so I was hoping to kill them by surprise. I got back but was too late--someone was here because some of the items I left behind was missing. Around 5 mins later, while I was running to the west one, all the players got replaced with new ones but fewer so I knew what was up--hoppers. Long story short, I ran through every damn military installation on the map and they've all been looted. Got shot once but survived. 4 hours in, there were over twenty-ish players, none of them stayed longer than 10 minutes. Today I thought I'd try again n was successful-got some ammo for my gun but moments later, I heard footsteps nearby and immediately knew it was those foreigners: [China]Hao...something and [China]KA... something. There was only four people incl. me in the server at the time and the other guy was likely strolling the countryside. I quickly ran out of the building and immediately I was shot at. I didn't see the where they were but had a general idea and the shooting had two types of fire sounds--obviously 2 shooters. I got out of their sights but decided to flank instead of running away. I went around the building and saw both of them slowly moving towards the direction I was before I went out of their view. I popped out, fired several rounds but he didn't effin drop and then shot his partner immediately after. Next thing I knew, I died. If I shot an infected at that distance, it would've die instantly and I wouldn't miss. The magnum's condition at the time was pristine. I always have around 20-40ms. They had over 300. How the hell? This reminds me of an event that took place during the early days of the Dayz: One time I unloaded 60 bullets into the back of an armed survivor as he was coming up the stairs and when I was out of bullets, he turned around and shot me, I died. To this day, I don't know how that's possible. 60 bullets, his still alive, 2 bullets to me, i'm dead. I wasn't desyncing at the time and I always have around 20-40ms. Maybe people with high latency get an advantage.

    Improving the FNX45

The pistol is just fine but some adjustments need to be made. Sound for FNX46 Clip: · When loading ammo into it's clip, the sound that plays feels unrealistic and sounds like I'm actually loading it into the pistol which im not. FNX45 with silencer equipped: · Sound difference feels no different and still attracts nearby zombies when firing. · The silencer underlaps other items in inventory (picture attached) which is bad and the gun with silencer doesn't display when placing it on a hotbar. · If loaded with a single bullet, there should be an ability to eject/remove it. EDIT: (typing error) *When loading ammunition into its magazine.

    Hunting and equipping time

Here is a small list of suggestions after playing DayZ: · Every item except weapons that can be equipped/unequipped i.e compass should be given a unique animation. I was disappointed when watching my avatar unequip a compass. · Extended map. Having a larger map would mean more trees, more difficult to find player tents, and allows much ground for hunting and crafting. Some players like me prefer to hunt animals and craft bottles for filling water from the lake or sea as an alternative means of survival instead of going into an infested city all the time. · Ability to craft hunting equipment such as wooden spears. · Ability to fish and cook fish · Half-split ship at Riften should have more railings in the inside. I don't like exploring this stupid ship because I died twice for apparently, no reason. I was exploring the forest after coming out of this ship and got the "you are dead" message. I speculated that it was because I got desync (yellow) issues while exploring the ship. I have friggin 10ms and the server has issues. Unbelievable. · Ability to "stay put" when equipping a weapon like SKS. My avatar apparently teleports slightly (about 1m) to the left when equipping my SKS. · Crouch animation when falling/lagging/jumping off places higher than a refridgerator and taking damage instead of getting the "you are dead". I once jumped off a place no higher than a fridge and the rest, you can pretty much imagine. · A system that checks the players last profile when he/she logs into a new server and given an option: Would you like to join this server? It will not load your previous profile/It will load your previous profile instead of just logging on. I once joined a server from NZ and I started fresh which pissed me off. · Would like an AK-47 added to the game very soon. · Infected at the airfield should be much tougher · Hundreds of infected in "port-cities". · Military installations near spawn points should be removed to encourage team work and less go-to-military-base-n-then-city-to-murder-survivors · Accessories for the M4 and their ammo type should be made rare. After one of the patches, acquiring M4 has been difficult to some extent which is great because it adds realism but to see parts everywhere kind of kills it, still. Thanks for reading.
