    whats your rule of engagement on DayZ

    If i see you and i say the following, "hey there guy...whatcha doin?" There is a good chance ive been watching you for 10 mins as you sneak about with your gun in hand looking for people to shoot. So i shoot you instead. If i see a new spawn. I leave em alone. If i see anyone with a gun...i watch them. I don't immediately shoot on sight and i try to avoid the said person that has a gun. If they shoot others, then i act. And you never see me. If someone gets the drop on me, i do anything within reason to ensure my survival. If that means giving up some gear or being handcuffed. If some is running full speed at me with ANY weapon, i shoot. I dont care if theyve seen me or not. I would rather not gamble. If the zone is hot...i am cold. see ya. These reactions are all because i play lone wolf 90% of my playtime. But i also adapt to whats going on around me. There have been many times where ive been in between firefights, just watching, and waiting to see the end result. Being alone puts you at a huge disadvantage. BUT i will say i am an opportunist and if those said firefights end and there is just one dude left....i will take his life.

    From the first sentence in the main paragraph...You clearly wrote their intentions "Tommy decides that the next fresh spawns we find are KOS." So id say yea, it is. Even if they foiled his initial plan by running away, his intention was to KOS.

    CLEARLY. Your toon was trying to "play dead" which unfortunately does not work well with the infected. Maybe bears? Try bears next time.

    I just run down hill and they flop over. I have literally been chased by 6-7 zombies, ran down the hill, to see a mass suicide flop. Just lol'd for dayz.

    Since everyone has put their two cents in, i might as well too. 1. They are not zombies...they are infected. And in the IMAGINARY world of video games...they can be whatever the devs want them to be. 2. If it were up to me...the infected would be similar to 28 days later infected. Fast. Ruthless. Simple. Only desiring the basic needs for survival. In numbers relevant to city size. Respawn is iffy. I honestly don't mind if they respawn as long as say...a player is not within 200m and in a certain time frame. 3. I think there needs to be more focus around being subtle and sneaky. Especially looting high pop towns and EVEN airbases. Give infected a reasonable sight range. Enough hearing to localize and find a shooter. But allow us to sneak. But like all opinions, mine is open to scrutiny. Fire away!

    OP, it sounds like you're trying to play the retail version of what DayZ will be. If you are a huge zombie survival fan, as of right now, alpha may not be what you're looking for. Everyone is going to play different. Everyone is going to have their own opinions on how to play. And everyone will have different DayZ experiences. If you're not 100% ready to give up alpha, i encourage you to move inland away from the coast where the majority of squad based combat occurs. But, if you truly believe the game is flawed at the core, don't play it til release. IMO
  12. military gear air drop. everything pristine. rations, canteens, clothes. EVERYTHING. Dropped once per server rotation. In the middle of Cherno by the downed plane. This will bring the masses to the town and let the blood bath begin. One could only dream. :|

    Let em whine. It is still a useful guide to people just getting started....which i assume is what you intended. It may not be the prettiest (sarcasm, cuz of all the color use) but it still get's the core survival information out there for bambis. Keep it up! Great work. As a suggestion, maybe team up with an experienced PVP'r (if you're not one) and add a PVP guide. I.e. handcuffs, when to communicate, when to engage, or when not to engage, good sniping spots, or moving from one house to another, how not to leave an obvious loot trail etc etc
  14. I have to put my two cents in here for this topic. IF the zombies don't play a pivotal role in DayZ, it will lose it's players and the "ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE" survival aspect. I don't think the zombies should be nerf'd in any way. They should me molded and upgraded to be more refined killing machines. Allow us to sneak. Allows us to plan our infiltration into a police station or airbase by creating distractions. Make military zombies stronger. Right now, even with the recent changes to zombies, i still do not fear them. I can run in circles and chop em down with my one hit kill axe. If zombies do not respawn, they should be in masses. LIKE city population MASSES, to be realistic. Smaller the city, smaller the population. I want 28 days later zombies. The ones that strike fear into the player. Ones that get the adrenaline and heart pumping in real life. Right now, the game is mainly (excluding many people who choose differently) people going to low pop servers, gearing up, then returning to a high pop server, mainly Balota airbase, and pvp'n. WHICH IS FINE. IT'S THEIR CHOICE. But, if the zombies were a legitimate threat, this would happen less, imo. IF ANYTHING, the zombies should get refined. If you shoot them in the head, they dead. A few to the chest, they die. Extremities, equal impairments. Low movement speed, or crawling. With no arms, they now have to bite. A "zombie survival" game should be just that at its core. ZOMBIES and SURVIVAL. Buff the zombies, make survival difficult, and weed out the weak.
  15. I've witnessed, been the center of, and been a part of far worse things than killing someone on sight while they drink at a water pump. We once handcuffed a dude, took his shoes, and fired a few rounds in the air to attract the zombies. Then we watched him get mauled to death while we laughed. We have also used flashlights to attract curious people only to splatter their brains and take their beans. So i don't think you've done anything terribly wrong OP. Its DayZ. Adapt and survive. I would also like to add being a victim to many maniacal things.
