Rain coat got 4x slots, down jacket had x3 last i checked, so even if both were water proof the rain coat wins. I've never used the down jacket. -

I still don't see the problem. Not in this game. Perhaps it was different in the mod where you didn't know (?) which server was changed or could suddenly be changed for the worse, but now you could choose to play on a server where that wouldn't be possible and just completely avoid private shard servers, while communities who wants to mod the game to make it more realistic or less realistic and play it their own way could do that. I don't really see why we who are not against private servers and freedom should be limited by people who just don't want us to be able to do it while it wouldn't affect them in any way unless they wanted it to. To be honest it just sounds like you want old grudges to limit the future. There are solutions, and you don't have to make something illegal before looking at them, thats just sad. And splitting up the community? What community? This forum? The only reason I am here is to see what new features are being added, and in this example show that not everyone is for limiting servers, other than that we will have our own community. -

I think I would have just shot him to be safe, but then there would be no interaction which is boring, and now that shooting people doesn't mean they die...maybe I wouldn't, but then I would probably be dead. -
Sounds like you met a cheater. I saw someone post videos of what you describe here, and it was obvious that it was cheating. I have experienced things that don't make sense like these my self, like people you are shooting at suddenly being behind you even if that would be impossible without being able to teleport, which they do. Cheating in this game looks easy, and it has always been cheaters in this game making it hell for everyone else, and the only thing that will "solve" it, is the update where lockable servers/white-lists are made available.

Why, what are they going to do with it? They can only affect their own server, whats wrong with that? If you don't like it, why not play on a shard server? Why limit the whole player mass, because some people don't know how to choose? I don't like comparisons, because they are in most cases wrong, and people who use them just want to argue, but OK: They are not driving on the same road (hive). One of them is driving on a public road (shard in public hive) where certain rules apply to make sure that everyone has a level playing field, while the other has bought him self his own race track (private hive) because he wants to drive faster and do things differently. The one who has bought him self a private race track lets other people come and race on his track with him, and they all know that only his rules go here, be they for good or worse, because he pays for the track, and there is a sign (Private Hive in server list) before you enter the server that makes you aware of this fact. Now you as a guest on this server don't like how the people who own the race track drive, your only option then is to leave and not come back, which is a pretty sound deal seeing that you didn't have to pay the owners to use their track. No one is harmed. Where is the problem? -

I got in a melee fight in Berezino (why do I still go there?). I met two bambis in the lumber yard, and one of them just started punching me in the head for no reason. I had a fireaxe, so I was thinking, easy match. Then the other one had a regular axe, so it got a little bit worse, but I had a plan. run around the one without an axe and take him out easy, then focus on the one with the axe. Wasn't that easy. We ran around eachother for 5 minutes, and I probably got one hit in. The other guy got three and I died. Lesson learned: - Axe is as powerfull as a mosin, if you hit, which is damn near impossible at the moment. - KoS everyone you don't know. -

Must say I don't see the problem of having both, private is private, you can do what you want with all the things, handy for modding if you want to make it your own. Shard is semi-public, you have control of who play there but people who play there can be safe knowing that the playing field is level, and the only things that will change is what is public. If servers at the same time are marked as Private/Shard, I don't see the problem, and everyone is happy. Not sure why I am explaining why having both is a real alternative, to me its pretty simple, and I don't see any downsides. -

Haha, if the point of an early access was to give players early access to a game, the game would be in beta. This is basically crowd funded and community developed. I feel I am entitled to my opinion just as much as any fan boy who is naive enough to think that not voicing his opinion and hoping not to be bent over is the right way to go. cents will be thrown around, and hopefully from more people than just me. I see the point I'm trying to make is exceptionally difficult for some to comprehend, ill make a short list. 1. This is based on the mod, and that is why everyone is here and eager to see this succeed, so basically, this is the "mod", only we are paying for it as a standalone game now. 2. I know its in alpha, I REALLY never said that it wasn't. What I said was that we paid for a game we don't know the end product of and we don't really get information (until now) on whats being done with it. 3. I know very well what the difference between an aritst and a programmer is, the point was that from the get go, the focus should not be on pretty pigs, but the mechanics. Pay a few less artists for a few more programmer for example. 4. Still never said it wasn't alpha, I actually said it was, but not being naive I don't really believe developers when they cough up dates, they're never correct.(notice the "at least"). 5. Personally I believe that I am entitled to my "demands" (which I would call suggestions as I am not in a position to demand anything, but call it what you want), complaints is a part of an alpha, hopefully makes things better, do you think that everything being done is great? To put it on the edge; would you just keep your mouth shut if you saw your beloved game being EA-fied before it even made beta? I mean, you paid for it, did you sign something that said "You are to shut up until the game is released"? Why have a forum then, to pamper the developers blindly? Should we only allow one view of things? 6. What you personally find rude, I work with every day. Where I work we have customers who pay and demand, but you are right, it would be lovely if I could do exactly what I wanted and the customer was not allowed to say anything about the process of what was being made, the cost or the end product. He paid for it, but it is rude, so its not allowed. Please.

I was anticipating this reply, because there are a lot of you out there. I once knew a guy that I played the original neverwinter nights with a long long time ago. Back then we only played roleplaying games when it came to these kind of games, no WoW or other grind games like that, not intelligent enough, too...commercial and obvious. Anyway, since the module we played on died because of soddy leadership that lead to impeachment, he decided to make his own module. We were all very eager to see a playable version so we could get going again, since we all loved the game and the roleplaying where we all came from, and he was a great DM. This guy was a programmer by profession by the way. Turned out he was a terrible organizer, he spent more time thinking about new cool features to implement, and artwork instead of working on the game core, not realizing that it were the players that made the server tick. The community, and the fact that not everything had to be supported by the game mechanics to begin with, or at all, took a back seat in the development phase. He never finished the module to my knowledge, at least in such a way that he could ever launch it to the public... But! he had a lot of cool ideas, scripts and visuals. Every year, for many years we asked him when it was going to be released, each time he said soon, or next week. The point of this story is this; If you already have a big community, and you came from the same place (being the dayz mod in this case), why not spend your resources on replicating the success factors as soon as possible, making it stable and as much like the original as possible, then improve on that once you're back to 0. You could release the game faster, making more money, and you could (god forbid) do a bohemia and waste time on making useless DLCs that allow some players to have more fun than others instead of fixing bugs, all you want, because money ;) I might be wrong tho, but with little communication from the developers and all these "OK" but totally useless jingles popping up inside the game (like a vertical frying pan on a butane burner), you want to remind someone that this is not whats important right now. Anyway, all of this doesn't matter anymore, as I can now see communication by the developers, and that exactly what has been missing out of those success factors that made the mod, are the next features to be added in :) Oh, and, no need to throw in the good old "but its alpha" card. Did the mod ever pass beta? Developers will play the alpha/beta card as long as they can to still the masses, you already paid for the game so why take their side? You just gotta keep demanding and complaining and hope that the majority of the community agrees with you and not the other guy that would rather have pretty pigs than functionality that makes the game more interesting, because the minute people stop doing that, you'll never see another full release again without all the easy solutions. Just a couple of cents.

Oh, this is excellent. Just what I was waiting to hear; fixing persistent, giving us lockable servers, private hives and white lists. Perfect, now we can start building roleplay communities. I have already started on the rules and laws of mine ^^ much appreciated news!

Tents are fine and dandy, been waiting for persistent storage, now focus on getting that working, then vehicles, then lockable servers with forced private hives. Then boar models :)

A mate of mine bought the game yesterday. Join our server, unconscious...respawned, enden up in the sea...died...spawned uncon.....you get the point. Tried: - Chaning name of char. No. - Jumping into a server where he was able to spawn, and then back. No. - Restart of everything. No. There is no cure?

Happens to a mate who bought the game yesterday, couldn't even spawn in alive the first time playing the game. Exactly the same happens. Tried different stuff, once he got in to a random server and then back into ours, then he suicides and it started happening again, and since he has not been able to respawn. Trying what lostence is saying now
