Is it better to travel with your gun in your hands or on your back?
mgc replied to omgwtfbbq (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
I always have a rifle out. I only have an axe out in case im about to kill Z. This demonstrates the ratio of percieved threatlevels between pvp / pve very well. I never have it in the "ready" (spacebar) position unless im going to use it. With this measure i hope to avoid KoS from scared "friendlies" that get the drop on me, while still being able to react relatively quick to incomming fire by shouldering weapon. (i play 1pp only) Sometimes i use the scope to scout dangerous areas (rooftops, suspicious treelines etc.) without the intention of firing on sight. This could easily result in hostilities if theres actually someone there that spotted me first. Maybe i should look into a bino. lol -
Starting to slap her around was dumb. They had the situation under control. In mother Russia, bitch slaps you!

Perhaps you could say; If you cant handle ever present potential death, this game is not for you. Who on earth LIKES getting killed?
-
Not needed for realism. All kids and old people could have died from the virus (or whatever). Only "healthy" adults turned. Prolly more realistic as well.

Will they make any of the zombies faster than us?

Perhaps we should test howmany Z a lone wolf can handle. Volunteers? -
We NEED some way to identify heros and bandits.
mgc replied to 1S1K-Airborne's topic in General Discussion
There is a way to distinguish between the 2. Observe the potential bandits behaviour and go from there. You shouldnt want to have an easy means of saying "that guy i can kos with a clear conscience, that other guy i cant." Not knowing is part of the fun. -
Anyway, the situation i described is possible and should be adressed?

I assumed the locals that died or ran away from the apocalypse already knew their environment and had limited use for local maps, hence there being loads around for us newcommers (who shipwrecked?) who have no clue about the environment and to whom maps are indeed useful.

I dont think we need quests or gun upgrades. Any edge you have over your fellow dayz'ers should come from player skill and certainly not from grinding quests. And dont worry about boredom, there will be plenty to do without quests.

Bicycles. (Silent and green (once you spraypaint them)) Anything with more than 2 wheels i would like to design myself; You take an existing chassis, mount a drivetrain that can handle the engine you have in mind, add wheels and then the fun can begin: Collect metal, a welder and a generator and design your own mobile fortress. Alternatively, if the above is to much work for you, you leave all but the superstructure intact and only redesign that. Alternatively, if the above is to much work for you, you leave the vehicle as is.

I dont like the way the ingame map is divided into pieces. Navigating is hard enough without adding another mini puzzle game. Just give us piles of complete maps at the gas stations. Maps (apart from handy to start a fire with) are not critical to locals surviving Z apocalypse and should therefor be plenty. Teleporting will never be a feature in this game unless you can demonstrate teleportation irl.

I agree with your system. It dovetails nicely with how i want gathered materials to fit in inventory. And yes, you could easily fit 100 pens in the space (and weight) 1 book takes.

Its a trap! Was there still only 1 player on when the shooting started? Suppose there was a scout at the airfield who had friends standing by (in limbo) to jump in. They picked strategic spots on that server before they logged and can join the second you get spotted by the scout. The scout throws open the doors to distract you while remaining safe behind cover. His friend(s) log back on the server behind your location. ready, aim, fire.. Maybe there needs to be discontinuity regarding location when you spawn. The fact that they could spawn at a predetermined position, gave them the opportunity to make this trap.

SUGGESTION: Wearing the United Nations Beret puts you into PVE-Only mode
mgc replied to Charcoal's topic in Suggestions
To camouflage me when i stick my head over the top of the hill. -
There should be enough loot to keep a full server alive and somewhat kicking. Priority should be given to getting players to spend their ammo on Z. In order to do that, the devs have to implement something that makes players want to stay put and defend a location with firearms. i.o.w. Save your lead for zed.

How to deal with stress and stay cool under fire? Remember its a game. Death, though potentially painful, is temporary. You could also try to play the character as if he has nerves of steel. Detatch yourself from the character and know you, the player, are never in danger. (except perhaps in the form of a small panicattack from longterm exposure to percieved danger.)

After Joining Three Full 64/64 Man Servers I was Shocked To Find
mgc replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
Players that join populated servers are most likely looking for easy PvP. It is therefor reasonable to assume they are already fully geared and have no need to go to the airfield where they might meet players with guns and ammo. -
Yes. The problem is that slow moving Z can easily be dodged. Wait with massive groups untill players have established something they need to defend. Z should be able to track players to their bases. (once they have them)

Bases, Base Value, Groups and More! Read to find out! :)
mgc replied to [email protected]'s topic in Suggestions
For the second time; No! ""A base, which can be established on a building plot or by a base establishing structure (BES), builds a community of in-game players"" In mother Russia, base does not build community of characters, community of characters builds base! -
So depressed I couldn't even be bothered to kill anymore :(

SUGGESTION: Wearing the United Nations Beret puts you into PVE-Only mode
mgc replied to Charcoal's topic in Suggestions
""The United Nations stands for peace and neutrality, and united nations soldiers protect those principles and should not get shot by other players"" Did those opposing peace and neutrality get that memo? I dont think so. I happen to wear 1 of those and im all for peace and stuff, but if i cant shoot the bandit, how do i enforce peace? Shout obscenities at him? I guess i would have to change hats if i really wanted to make a difference. And change back quickly in case i miss. -
I may have been unclear. This: ""For example, I can imagine you being able to tie a bandana onto your backpack, upper arm, or onto your gun. They would stick out a bit, but it allows someone to look at you and say something like "ok, you have the blue bandana on your arm" or even if you found enough, your whole group could have one color bandana."" I agree with. I took the idea 1 step further and it doesnt work the way i wanted for several reasons.

"in order for this game to continue on they have to cater to the masses. That's just business." Catering to the masses leads to "easy" games filled with demi-gods wielding prems in primary colors using pay to win ammo fluff. Makes money doesnt it? THIS IS SPARTA! (with zombies instead of immortals) Now if ud be so kind to fall into that pit...

I have a monogram id like to be able to spraypaint on my backpack. Maybe a small version on whatever im wearing on my head. If this level of freedom is unmoderated, it could be used to exhibit certain sociological points of view, so maybe not such a good idea. Would be cool though.

And what do you mean by buildings? Like new residentials for the map? (i admit im a bit tired of visiting the same 3 houses over and over, but in this stage of R&D its not a problem.)
