DayZ is released digitally so far, so you can buy it via the PlayStation store. Physical copies are not available at this stage.

Hello Survivors, in two weeks (on the 2nd of September), we will be moving several Official PC servers to the Community Tab. As this includes a hive switch, characters on these servers will be wiped on that day. However, the map persistence will stay intact. So, to not lose any progress and keep your server, we recommend you to: Stash your gear in some persistent way on the server before September 2nd (in tents, barrels, or buried in the ground). Note down your server IP, to easily find your server again, after the switch has been made. Hello Survivors, Since we released the private servers, we witnessed a huge amount of players shifting from the public servers to the private ones (we are talking about several thousands of pre-ordered private servers alone). This shift obviously reflects on the experience on the public servers, with servers being more empty in general. To compensate for this, in one week from now, we will shut down 140 public PS4 servers, to concentrate the player-base more on the remaining servers. We understand this change will cause problems for many players out there while moving their bases over to other servers (as you can switch between all public servers and you will be able to keep your character). We apologize for the inconvenience. That said, we assure you, that we will always provide sufficient server capacities for all of our players. All affected servers will be changed in their name to "Persistence OFF" to signal the upcoming change. You are not forced to play on only one server. But due to all the exploits related to server-hopping there is sadly no way around resetting players positions. The hive is there so that you can join your friends gaming sessions with your character (and hopefully you want to stay on the same server together). If you want to hop, you have to do it consciously, accepting the position reset.

If you come across this kind of bases, please send me a PM with screenshots and ideally server name and position, so that we can have a closer look at the situation. We want to avoid wipes, but depending on the situation, we will consider them.

Dear Survivors! DayZ is now out on all the major platforms – PC, Xbox, and PS4. You've probably seen team changes on social networks and are wondering: what's next? Of course, that's only natural, and today we would like to talk about the current issues, the expectations set by both the DayZ Mod and 0.62, and the future of the game. Consoles The console updates will always happen after the PC updates – within 3 to 4 weeks of each other. The main reason for this lies with the specifics related to the console submission and review process. It takes 3-7 days for a submitted game to go through review. If it is decided that the build is good to publish, it takes 3 more days to roll the update out to the public. However, if there are any issues flagged as a must-fix by Sony or Microsoft (even ones that could be fixed in an hour), the whole process has to start again. Because this review process can take so long, we use the readily available PC platform to try new versions early – to check if there are any significant issues we missed (as you know, it happens). This PC testing lets us deliver the console update in a more reliable state and minimizes the chance of re-sending builds for review. A quick 1.04 update: we will carry out a complete server and character wipe, and will introduce private servers. Also, this update will address some of the current most troublesome issues in the game – duping, server hopping, and frame rates. Past, Present, and Future Parity with 0.62 and the DayZ Mod – full parity isn't possible because of the engine specifics. While features from 5 years ago are exciting, we want to remind you: most of the features didn't really work properly back then, and this is why it wasn't a final game. You might question the necessity of a new engine, but for those who took a long break from the game, it's plain to see just how much of a difference it has made. DayZ runs a lot smoother on the new engine. Although it might be hard to notice the change when you play daily, taking a step back should help to highlight many of the improvements that have been made during development. And these improvements are strengthening the game every day. We see it through the steadily increasing player count (even on PC) since March 2019 (public data is here). We see it in Twitch statistics – with more channels streaming the game and more people watching (link to Twitch stats). It might be a far cry away from the numbers of 2013, but for an almost 6-year-old game, it's pretty good! Of course, we will continue to work on DayZ to make everyone's experience better. Let's take a more detailed look at the game and its future: Advanced health system – We improved it in 1.04 and will continue the balancing. However, at this time we will not commit to implementing complex medical/injury gameplay – while this is desired by many hardcore players, we are still struggling to fully explain the complexity of the existing system to the majority of players. Moving forward, we are working on a nice balance between authenticity and accessibility. New content (guns, cars, etc.) – As you know, we have already added some of these. More will follow, but keep in mind that it will depend on how quickly we can achieve this year's goals. Modding support – We will improve the user experience for both modders and players. For example, we will soon bring animation tool support. Stable base building – A large part of this is the matter of balancing, and it's one of our key objectives for the year. Our focus for DayZ for the rest of 2019 will be: bug fixing, stabilizing, balancing, and modding support. We also plan to release an official DLC this year (keep your eyes open, and follow us on social media for updates). Additionally, we are currently experimenting with Survivor GameZ (a mod and popular tournament from the past), and will possibly bring this to DayZ as an additional game mode. About people It's normal – especially in this industry – to move on after working on a particular project for several years. And after major releases are done is the most likely time to do so. With DayZ, it's no different, and after releasing 1.0 on PC and console, some people are moving onto other projects internally, or leaving the company. It should go without saying that no matter what, these people will always be in the hearts of the DayZ team. While these are by no means the only team changes, we wanted to at least address the public faces of the game who are leaving: Peter, Lead Designer, who led the design direction of DayZ through many tough years. Eugen, Project Lead, will always be loved for his honesty and open ears to both players and developers. Martin, Brand Manager, is in our hearts for his effort to finally bring DayZ successfully to players on Xbox and PlayStation. Baty, Community Manager, loved for all the personal care for our community and interactions with our player base. Everyone who worked on DayZ not only has a great line in their portfolio, but the tremendous support of both us and the community behind them, and we wish them all the success in the world. You only need to be sure not to write into the section that's commented out (<!-- comment-->) We are in contact with Nitrado on an issue that might discard changes to the messages.xml under certain circumstances. However, we managed to make it work after repeated testing, when the server was switched off before changing/saving the xml-file.

What is preventing you from joining a server, do you get a message upon disconnect? As Siva already mentioned, it could be that your server is just full, but in that case you should be put in a queue. -
All servers from GameServers will share one of two hives, one for 1st/3rd person and one for hardcore-servers.

The more exact the reproduction steps are that you can give us for this issue, the better. Our team is looking into it.

Server admins are supposed to have access to the game logs, which would show you for example when players log in, disconnect, receive damage and die. Positions should be included. In addition we plan to have a whitelist/blacklist feature which can be used in combination with these logs. That is the current plan and there are more things being considered, but there are still some tests that have to be done before we can say how the final version will look like.

Added: Filter for password-protected servers in the server browser KNOWN ISSUES When filtering for favourite servers, you will encounter blank server pages that you will have to scroll through to find your server (favourites are the only ones displayed).

We are aware that the current tools for private server owners are not ideal for several tasks connected to managing communities. We are currently looking into the next steps on how to expand on the existing system.

There are no plans for NPC survivors/trader/bandits in DayZ. Every person you see is supposed to be a real player. 🙂

DayZ is a bit more complicated than other games that use a classic "KO"-state. Most games just have one simple health bar and the KO appears always when it runs out. We on the other hand have a separation between overall health, blood and the shock that players are suffering. I don't want to go into too much detail, but weaker players (in terms of blood-loss) go KO easier, and damage against the head does more damage. Some weapons do more shock than others and armour can reduce this kind of damage. At the end of the day this means that it is not luck that defines if someone goes unconscious, but it is also more difficult for the player to actually calculate it. So if in doubt: double tab.

Also, before you jump in, we'd like to take you through a few things that may make your first experience with DayZ a little bit better. DayZ is hard and tactical. Get good! First things first: DayZ is an online multiplayer survival game where you have only one goal: to survive by any means necessary. It's aiming to provide a very authentic survival experience, close to what would really happen if the world would come to an apocalypse involving an infection outbreak. The game rewards patience and learning, so to get the best experience out of DayZ, you need to approach the game that way. It can often feel very slow paced and tactical, but we guarantee you: you won't experience more adrenaline in any other game when you first meet another person in the game! Also, it's not always the smartest thing to try and shoot everyone - the best moments in DayZ often involve player interaction! You have many tools to communicate - from hand gestures or voice chat, to personal radios or public address system. Use them and make a good survival story for yourself! How to report feedback on the PlayStation 4 We've spent a long time testing and developing DayZ, but it's a complex game and there will be bugs. We want to know about every issue you have with the game. The best way to report issues is to visit our Feedback Tracker and follow the instructions there. There are still some physics/simulation issues with vehicles. Especially when they have wheels missing, we do not recommend to enter them. The issue are known to the team and we hope to resolve them with future updates.

Pencil, papers and map markers were part of the game in the alpha stage, but had to be removed with the engine revamp and are still waiting for their re-implementation. We know writing notes and making map markers are highly requested features and we hope to return them to the game eventually.

It's not a thing we want to do, as we don't want to punish the honest players for our mistakes or those of their fellow players. So we want to keep wipes to a minimum, namely when the update hits. As mentioned at the start of the discussion in our tweet: The update will not be released this week.

We are still doing some internal testing on the new build to verify the fixes and check for regression issues, the submission should happen tomorrow. The accidental update just included some minor fixes for performance, nothing affecting the database. Our new update is bigger and includes changes affecting the database connection, which is why it needs to be released simultaneously.
