Closing this Feedback Round as the release is approaching. Thank you all for your valuable feedback! 🙂
-
Hello Survivors! First and foremost, thank you for considering our call for your feedback - you're helping us get a better grasp of how the game is doing on Xbox. For this round, we want to put focus on the current issues with the game and what we could improve for the Xbox-specific controls, as well as the overall gameplay experience. Please understand that while we're looking for specific feedback, this is not a wish list. As much as we would love to, we will likely not be able to implement every comment/suggestion made here into the game, but having your feedback will help us set priorities with the Dev Team. To avoid reports on things we're already aware of, have a read through our current list of known issues: Currently known general DayZ issues: Server crashes can cause undesirable persistence wipes There are various issues with cars, often related to physics simulation/desync (cars shooting up the air, or diving underground) Currently known general Xbox Issues: Game performance (FPS) may drop significantly It's currently possible to duplicate items (duping) Currently known/acknowledged specific Xbox Issues: Spamming B when disconnecting can freeze the game When a fence is placed, the game freezes It is currently not possible to customise your fresh spawn character in the main menu Hold breath feature has no assigned controls Leaning feature has no assigned controls It is not possible to reload when your inventory is completely full Connecting to a Hardcore (1st person only) server initially spawns you in the 3rd person perspective Some wearable items can obstruct aiming Loading times for filled inventories are too long Options menu item is named "Configure" when connected to server (should be "Options" too) When sharing your feedback or describing problems, please be as specific as possible. Also, let us be clear that we understand how some issues can be the cause of a very passionate irritation (we play the game, too! ). Please do your best to remain constructive and respectful even when things turn ugly, being angry does not really send the message across. Remember that it's always helpful to provide us with visual examples of your issues. Use the official Xbox guideline on capturing screenshots and DVR clips, and either let us know that we should look at the screenshot/DVR on your profile, or share it with us over the unofficial XboxDVR website. To help you out with some areas of reports we're mostly interested in, we would like to hear your thoughts on: bugs and general game / stability problems gameplay and balancing servers, their availability, and general online experience controls and your overall player experience Also, while we're mainly searching issues and problematic areas, we will be glad to hear what you like on the game as well! Let's do this Survivors. (Header Image: DanceOfJesus via reddit)

To be clear please describe your issue in more detail. 🙂 Database locks can appear when rapidly switching servers without waiting for the 15 second timer, it should resolve itself pretty quickly. If it continues to persist, please contact our Feedback Tracker with your Steam ID and if possible the IP of the server you last played on. Also, moved to Troubleshooting.

Consider de-fragmenting your HDD after downloading large updates. Updating a moddable game and its platform is not without risks. We use various methods to communicate upcoming changes to our awesome modding community. We also co-operate directly on troubleshooting, and we offer an opportunity to test updates via our Release Candidate tests. Modders, server administrators and other members of the community do their best to prepare for updates and to address issues post-release as quickly as possible. Please be mindful of some interruptions (especially in the first hours / days after a release) while we all work to improve the game together. In case of problems, please check the Bohemia Interactive support F.A.Q., DayZ F.A.Q., or BattlEye F.A.Q. You can help us to further improve the game by posting your feedback on the Feedback Tracker. [Update] Any details available (PC)?

Come on guys, you know how this works: Details are announced once the patch goes live to Experimental/Stable. And no, it's not that far out any more. 🙂 -
There is currently a bug with this, should be fixed with the next update. You have to hold the quickslot with the magazine to reload it.

We can't promise Private Servers on Xbox right now but we're looking into ways how this could be made possible! It's really important for us and if there is a way to let you guys run your own servers on Xbox, we'll do it! So no ETA at this point sadly.

So it's been about a month since I last checked in...
ImpulZ replied to tandwan's topic in General Discussion
Yes, the update 1.01 brought improvements to the backup system that should have resolved most persistence issues. -
The 1.0 update for Xbox will be content-wise similar to the 1.01 update on PC, you can read more details here: https://dayz.com/article/game-update/pc-stable-update-1-01 There will be some additional Xbox-specific fixes/changes, but don't expect a different game from it. I hate to be the dream-crusher here, but the features you listed above would keep our entire team busy for a very long time, and some are just not what we want to see in DayZ.

The Xbox release will bring a complete wipe of map and characters (on Xbox).
-
All game updates are coming to PC first, content/features are identical (with slight delay on the Xbox version due to porting/certification processes).

At what point do we consider DayZ dead online?

This thread has gone quite off-topic by now, locked. -
To give a bit more insights, balance passes are currently happening. But as you already started listing some of them above, there's several sections that need to be balanced and we cannot tackle all of them at once. For example the recent update 1.01 focused on the rebalancing of gunplay. We implemented a good range of weapons, but combat did not feel complete, so we adjusted the values. We received a good amount of feedback, and PVP feedback is relatively fast/easy to obtain. AI sensory will probably be one of the next focus points. This part is related to the entire survival cyclus with energy/hydration and regeneration. We do not want to try and jumpstart with radical changes to this, but will rather slowly approach it and monitor feedback (you are very welcome to give constructive feedback on the balancing of the loot economy and survival elements in the game). We are seeing a lot of discussions on this issue on our forums and forwarding the detailed info to our designers. But yeah, this includes not only nutritional values and blood restoration rates, but it is also related to the availability of food, meaning the behaviour of the central economy throughout full and empty servers. So it's a complicated topic, that were are tackling over time, while gathering data. A different issue, that we will tackle once we got rid of the most prominent exploits around base raids, so that we can see how players actually behave once the workarounds do not work any more.

Your server provider should give you the option to restore a backup, but having direct access to the storage files is better/faster. How it works is that in \storage_1 you have two folders: \data and \backup. In \data you have the active storage files (.bin) and two failsaves (001 and 002). In \backup you have backup storage data, either created automatically created by the system, or manually by yourself. To restore a backup, just clean the \data folder and replace the files with the ones from the backup of your choice.

In the future, please open a separate topic for new suggestions, so that we can keep the discussion on point. You are talking about player action prompts, which other players have asked us to remove earlier (for example repetitive prompts such as "open door"). We know that there's always going to be some grey area in terms of how much HUD a player wants to see in the game, so we will probably try to advance the HUD custimisation in the options. However, this is not a priority at this point.

No Status Reports, No Updates, Hello...???
ImpulZ replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Also a bit too harsh. We have no issues with questions, that's something we at the Community Team are there for. And yeah, sometimes the answer to the question should be pretty obvious or has been communicated before. But we are aware that there's always someone who misses the memo or needs to be brought up to speed again. Answering with the facts out there and sharing your knowledge is the solution. -
We are planning to implement such a mechanic in the future, but no ETA yet.
