Hate to be that guy, but even Dean has mentioned that it IS a problem. The amount of players just slaughtering fresh spawns for shit and giggles is a problem. Your milage may very, but it doesn't seem very authentic, nor is it interesting, engaging, or fun in any way to have players camp the spawn points and slaughter the newborns. Again, even the lead desinger of this game has agreed, Yes it is an issue. One that will probably work itself out to some degree when the game has more content. If everybody KoS this game would suck. Well it still sucks when a very large amount of players do it too. That's not what Day Z is really about.

Summary of dev Q&As from streams
hypermoon replied to LaughingJack (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Just curious, but why? Bows in Skyrim were pretty much perfect. -
I'm not losing anything. I watched that stream, even asked the question about progression where he talked about repairing items. I think it's the direction the game should head in. It's exactly what I want. I think you misunderstand the point of character progression. My buddy wouldn't have dropped his gear and YOLO'd to near certain death if his characters life had value that exceeded his gear. If his character had survived along time and he had alot of those "passive" type skills (cooking, repairing, etc etc) that he valued and wouldn't want to lose, than why would he still run outside completely naked? It is pretty much an obvious way to make the game more fun and it also fixes that issue of characters not having any value. I'm glad that's where it will be going.

I think it's simulating focus, so I don't really see a problem with it.

All it takes is 1 bullet to completely reset someone though. Don't you see the advantage to having some sort of progression system in a game where your character permanently dies? Here's an example of why the game needs this. I was playing with a friend and we were held up in this building. Knew someguy was outside with an M4. My buddy dropped all his gear except his M4 and went outside to kill this guy. Well he died, but it was all OK because I still had his gear. He respawned near Kamishovo and ran back over to Elektro to get his gear back. What is your solution to this? Whether you like it or not, the game should make characters worth more than loot. As of right now, this is the only good way to do it unless you have a better idea?

Permadeath is the only way to make skills interesting at all. If you don't lose them, then dying in the game is pointless. Making guns more accurate as a skill is a bad idea. Promotes KoS.
-
There should be skills in the game but no progress bars. They shouldn't have skills for gun accuracy, that should be determined by the players actual playing ability. Skills like getting better at repairing items the more you do it or crafting better items. Reloading faster Cooking better meals the more you cook. Better at resisting shock or pain the more you experience it If instruments are added, you get better at those the more you play. Once more gameplay elements are implemented we can come up with probably endless ideas like this. Although I don't think these ideas are enough, i think they are on the right step in order the make characters worth more to players than gear.

No, that's what real players are for. Also, i don't want to see some "humanity" system.
-
No, people will have "screw around" characters and it will ruin the game.

What Land Vehicals Would You Want From DayZ Mod In DayZ SA (Multiple Choice)
hypermoon replied to leefriendfield's topic in General Discussion
I really want some sort of bus that can hold alot of players. -
The "eat all" features, plus the new buildings, some bug fixes, etc, etc are nice. I haven't had any problems with the current experimental. Not alot of servers available is the only reason I play on stable. Ive noticed that most people just hang out in elektro and starve to death on the fuller servers lol.
-
I think it would be awesome. Perhaps the longer you played the better you get (no stats of course) and maybe you could learn new songs. That way only the long time survivors could carry out the best tunes. It would be really cool to have something like that for when you are all just chilling around a campfire or something.

"Realism" and a fine line between fun and it being too much.
hypermoon replied to Nibashe's topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure they are taking the following: 1. Simple concepts (You are out in the rain you get "wet") 2. Give them depth (it can make you sick eventually, or damage your gear, etc) 3. But don't give them too much (which is what you are mentioning). The game has some authenticity. Much more when it comes to other games (You lost blood? No worries, here is a health back. Just walk over it get full life.) But it doesn't get super ridiculous with everything because that would be way too complicated, and just not fun. (although i do think we should have to remove bullets or risk infection.) I think the devs are looking for that balance -
Hitting zombies with cars. Or other players sounds awesome

As other people have stated these are terrible ideas. The mini map and stuff like that are left out intentionally don't you see that? I understand why you would want those things but you don't seem to understand the intention of this particular game. It's trying to be authentic and immersive. By plastering a big map on the corner of your screen and allowing you to warp to your friends would totally ruin this game and turn it into generic garbage.

Update Rev. 0.36.115535 (Experimental branch)

I'm down for some mushrooms. :p I'd settle for some cigarettes and weed though. Cigarettes to reduce shock Weed to reduce pain -

The one thing I think needs to be changed about "eat all" is it should certainly take longer. If you eat 100% it should take 4 times as long as just eating 25% Also, no annoying sound indicating when i step out of the rain. Another thing I noticed was that when you sit down with your gun and try to scope in your gun by tapping right mouse click, the screen like zooms into your head or something. It's all messed up. -
Every time I start the game and try and join a server I usually can. But if I happen to go to my favorites list or refresh the list, sometimes it won't come back. Or like 5 server names pop up. If I keep hitting refresh none will eventually appear and then I have to restart the game. Does anybody else experience this and if not, is there anyway to fix this?

I'm 100% KoS now. Fuck yall 14 year olds for fucking killing me for no reason! >.< I'm over it. I got killed by some fuck head over nothing. I had a magnum, SKS, a FNX, tons of rounds. Was going to give this dude some shit, but no he fucking shoots me and ruins pretty much anything useful I had for him. So yeah from now on, anybody I see will die before they even know what hit them. -

I can just see it now. hundreds of bambis running long distances at full sprint suddenly collapsing on the side of the road. -
I thought everyone knew about this by now. I accidentally have been doing this since I got the game, just because I run fast in buildings and end up glitching through them. Didn't know you could shoot through them though, very cheap.

Books that give you abilities, skills, and animations while in inventory
hypermoon replied to THE_T_V1RUS's topic in Suggestions
If there ever was an idea to promote KoS, you've found it. I think the idea of character progress is key to Day Z. In a game with freaking permadeath, it's a golden opportunity to make the game awesome but that particular idea might cause more problems. -
Why the dayz formula will ultimately fail

Basing your opinions of an early alpha on things that will no doubt change. Why?
