This could be an interesting slant on the server "build" in the future. I have thought that it would be good to have Zombie heavy servers, but since the servers presently have issues with how many players/zombies/animals/lootspawn too balance, maybe it might be possible swop around the numbers a little... Also im less into the Player kill on sight and more on Axe the zombie menice.. (which is why i love clearing the zombies out of towns) heavier the Zombie action, the more people have to band together to survive. A future looting system would see what someone is interested in looting.. if they want everything (fresh spawn) then it can provide more basics, if it can look into their invintory, and see they are full up on beans, but are lacking maps, then it can spawn a few extra maps around that persons area for them to find them, if they are on a Zombie heavy area, more medical stuff, a heavy PvP (obviously the system knows when people are shooting each other compared to falls or zombie kills) then it can generate a more ammo. A couple of weeks ago i spent hours wandering around one town, looking for 3 things.. a pristine bipod, a pristine scope, and maps... everything else was handled. if the looting system can see.. hey this guy isnt eating every can of beans or drinking every pipsy he can find, then it can adjust accordingly. 3-5 people looting the same area.. it can calculate and adjust accordingly.. 10 people.. (deploy more zombies!@) it can go more generic.. The hunt for stuff is half the fun, (and it is fun to find new items i havent seen before) I can also see that the present storage system is going to become a problem as more things are introduced. we will need to "change" or add more storage into packs to adjust. When the water starts making people sick, or they can catch the flu, are in pain, it will require When i was a lot younger, i did a lot of back packing, traveling in both the bush (bushwalking) and hitchiking, you really learn how to pack your stuff well, and what you will need, and what you will not need, but you do end up "heavy". Another trick we used to do is carry our "day pack" on the front (reversed) and the main pack on the back.. the weight actually balances you out better for walking. But it is a lot of aditional weight. Its why i see the "broken leg" thing is good.. i never broke my leg, but i did twist my ankles now and again. You get very careful about how you walk, watch where you travel, and learn to not keep on trudging on when tired. .. hehe im right off topic now >< Sooo loot relating to people playing.. yes, but with a bit more complication. Also the more "new Loot of the week" appears, even lone wolves who are out wandering around will start coming into town to find new stuff ; ).

Yes.. i noticed that it becomes a choice of chest holster with gun (4 slots for the gun) or 8 slots of storage and 4 slots in the back pack for the gun... its an easy choice to keep the 4 addition slots in the combat harnis. Would be good, to have something that holds the pistol you are using and 4 slots for ammo or fast loaders (clips). ..

Yes the folding shovel has been on my mind as well. I have owned a couple in real life, the best one is the one which has the wooden one piece handle and the head folds over, you can use that one like an axe, or dig holes, etc. I keep one like that in the boot of my car to this day. The metal one (pictured) i found doesn't last to long with use, and its easy to break the threads on the lock nuts..
-
still.. you could just have this "phantom hand car" NPC ride past on the tracks now and again.. some old zombie grinding away on it who isnt interested in eating your brains... >< kind of like the Headless horseman out of Skyrim. I kind of like random things like that, discovering little "easter eggs" in the game.

Yes great idea, this plus a craftable ghilli suit and a hunting we can go ; )

Yeah, i learned that one the hard way, Keep a couple of Morph's or sticks and bandages in my pack. had the game freeze up on me the other day and fell about half a meter off some stairs (second time in that farmers barn with the two double stairs and lofts on both sides, that damn building has it out for me). A good trick is to press X and sneak so you dont take to big of "steps" and hence over step and fall.. or the game lags a little and pushes you off lofts or building scaffold, edges of roofs. I did get trapped in the area under the stairs one time (after falling through) the fall didnt kill me, but i couldnt get out , until i exited the server, then restarted the game and entered another server.. just swopping servers left me trapped under the stairs.. enough to make someone seem like harry potter... Yeah.. Teleport .. NO.. mini map.. im used to playing with them in other games, but I do kind of like the "LOST" feeling this game gives by not having them. I actually coppied out and cut up a map with "THE GIMP" , then printed out the pieces on my printer so i have sections i can look at while playing, honestly, I find it adds to the atmosphere, because when i first started I died a lot.. i had to actually work out on the map where i was spawning (and respawning) and then learn where the closest drinkable water was. Now i know I ran the wrong way many a time, that there are ponds and pumps all over the place to find. I also had to correct myself by my perceptions, I thought i was spawning at one place on the map, but figured out it was another town further north. It doesnt take ages to figure out the maps, especially if you find the ingame maps.. (most i have found so far are 3 of the 4 before dying) which show much more zoomable details of areas, but take up more slots.. If you are running around in the forests, use your landmarks, use the power lines (they criss cross all over the map) and railways, rather than just the roads. Now if we got a mini map, its going to show enemies and other people on the map.. which then again is going to ruin the "surprise" effect when 3 zombies try to ambush you . .or the sport of trying to ambush zombies before they spot you.. so i understand what you mean. .but I am going to say... NO to the mini map as well. I do hope in the future we will have a "team /.clan" global chat of some sort for each server, not just an "close area" chat, as i do like talking to fellow players in game. that way you will let your fellow players know where you are, how far away u are from their spawning points, etc, while they can help by gathering replace ment loot, or keeping your body "safe" after death. the present "restart" after 4 hours wont help with that .. but when they get the respawn thing worked out, and with comm's then it will be do-able i hope. ^_^

O.K, Im not sure if this is more of a suggestion or technically a bug (feel free to move it over to "bugs if you feel its more that) just a small thing that has been bothering me (that i noticed) that I am not sure if its just me or others, but has anyone noticed they can draw a gun (by pressing relivent number) then space to activate it, then use it, while running, BUT if you try to draw a Melee weapon while moving, or in a doorway, or sometimes just some random place the game doesnt like, it won't draw, until you are "still" (not pressing any direction buttons on your keyboard) and will give you an Action error over and over, until either you move into an exceptable place. (I tend to keep the melee weapon at 1, firearms at 2 and 3) This has sabotaged my game play quite a few times.. not being able to draw my weapon, but not knowing why it wont draw.. (mean while getting the snot bashed out of me by some Zombie). Anyways, i have learned, that in the present build, while running somewhere with your weapons holstered, only the firearm will draw while running, if you try to activate your melee weapon, likely you are going to get hit serveral times before you can fully activate it, and you cant circle around to avoid a Zombie attack while u do.. So that means if you only have a melee weapon at the moment, you are going to want to run around with it drawn .. a lot of the time to avoid getting your weapon trapped at an attack. my suggestion is to make it so you can draw while running (you can do this in other games) if this is infact part of the game design, so that the enemy can be dodged while you get ready to give them a "spliting" headache

Yeah you can see how "respawning" will relate to loot respawns in the future. I like the idea of aging zombies though, thats good. After all you should have "shufflers" and the "newely infected".. you could get 5-10 shufflers in a group.. im thinking that would be a lot of fun to try and sneak up on them an axe them all without getting whacked. I had fun yesterday, and probably had about 40 "Zeek" kills, sometimes as many as 3 attacking at once, talk about dancing. I admit i am more into this game for Zombie hunting than human killing, so it will be fun when there are more to hunt down. Still, it would be good in the future that if i "clean" an area.. i only get the odd Zombie drifting in from another territory.. rather than having them all respawn at once, which is insane if the server you are on logs you out in the middle of Zombie heavy territorywith the restarts. i had that happen, then didnt realize i logged into a night time server, and just about bled to death, swining my axe randomly around me.. it really was quite exciting ; ) .. those bastard Zeeks go straight for your head lamp and ruin it right away..

Yeah the weapons kit screwed me before the last update. I thought "oh great weapons cleaning kit" and used it on a rifle turning ti from pristine to worn.. talk about ruining my day... from that experience i did assume that the "new" sewing kits were going to do something similar and i didnt use it on anything till it was past "worn" to damaged or badly damaged.. least it screw that object as well >< (after all thats what the "cleaning kit did). So yeah, it should be able to "bring up" an object to pristine i believe. if i have a Pristine cleaning /repair kit or a Pristine sewing kit, its should do just that. if my kits "worn" than thats as far up the "repair " tree i go. Also. yes, i agree, we need Melee repair kits as well, espeically if you are going to "wear or break" melee weapons due to opening cans of food, extra. How many whacks at a zombie am I going to get in the future with a "worn" or damaged axe or shovel before it needs repairs..?

I play Fallen Earth MMO (for about 4 and a half years now) and a big ticket in the game is unlocking your "clothing slots" and wearing stuff over your Armour. I have a "wasteland tux" on one of my toons.. (held together by bits of duct tape, looks cool). But yeah Lots of girls and boy clothings, and players have multiple toons, different or the same sex (up to 6) and dress them up accordingly, and quite a few cross dress their toons as well. others like to take off all their toons clothes and have them dance at the bar.. >< . I think clothing like that is only going to take off if it has a decent armour rating or can be worn over armour so you dont loose any ratings. I am not sure how the armour rating system works yet, (or even if it is working) but you would have to make that Pink MIn have the same rating as a pair of summer hunters cammo pants of the same "worn " or "damaged" lvls. I saw the other day we have the options now for not just the combat and motorcycle helmets, but construction and airforce pilots helms (i was running around with a bright orange "kill me" construction helmet all yesterday >< .. i am fairly sure i saw a pink one around somewhere). More cool clothing sets.. yes, but only if they carry the same ratings.. maybe making clothing "dyeable" (as many of them are in F.E) with the spray paint cans will allow teams to paint their gear to allow easy recognition ingame in the future. I wanted to paint my Melee Axe the other day.. im hoping that will be possible in the future, or even painting the civilian arms.. the new SKS could do with a squrt of desert yellow and Green and black...., Also.. will there eventually be "seasons" in game? will we cycle through winter, spring, summer autum? can we colour and dress accordingly? paint weapons?

ID + Study body (POLL ADDED. PLEASE VOTE)
Lupine replied to ALEXANDER10 (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
If this happened in real life (some sort of disaster that depopulated a country) i personally would destroy my ID's straight away, all of them. The reason why is because I dislike having to be "regulated" in any way in real life, last thing i want to do is do it in a game. Screw I.Ds bad idea, as pointed out before, IDs, or ID tags or military tags or any sort of tag is going to be used as trophies. In this game i wash up on shore, i could be an escaped con, i could be a mass murderer, i could be a hunter, banker, soldier, sailor, who knows.. its part of the point.. it doesn't mater what you were, now the shit has hit the fan, time to survive. Besides, I would dump it right away just to keep the slot/storage. its "my story" how i want to play it. to recap.. ID's BAD. -
I say NO to melee weapons being harder to find.. Its very hard to punch out a zombie, and hard to take out 2 at the same time with just your fists. The sewing kits are a step towards things being more difficult, I have noticed that the latest "Zeek attacks" damage clothing, which can be brought back to "worn" lvl through patching. I think this is a step in the right direction.

Heh. Yeah "Get out of here stalker!" sigh.. love the Stalker games, I see they have their MMO in development "survarium" (the original developers lost the name to another company, worth reading up). As to speaking zombies.. nah, they are pretty effective at the moment. Sometimes they dont make any noise at all until they are going to chomp you from behind, and thats pretty freaky. Might be good though to have more "shamblers" wandering around in small groups.. or ankle biters crawling around missing their legs, nothing more fun than sneeking up and Axing them all >> . No language for zombies for me, screams and howls and grunts are fine. I will just be happy when they run around buildings instead of through them :D
-
Yeah im pretty happy the present "finding" of firearms (and initial melee weaps) . First time i played the game i couldnt find a melee weapon to save myself, ended up dead quite a few times till i learned how to punch out zombies :) but you can only do that probably once if you have some lvl or health. I don't recommend it to noobies. last 2 "deaths " have been from falling off things first time was immediate death.. rather than a break. the second was a break with no sticks around to make a splint.. i had to find a zombie to beat me to death ;) . the latest respawn i found the new SKS, and about 30 rounds of ammo.. not enough ammo to use it exclusively on Zeek's but enough to take a few distance pot shots.. I like it, it also makes sense that this is the kind of weapon you would find, an old ex military rifle. Its what you would find in the homes of licenced gun holders in the country i Live in, but it would be a 303 enfield or an 8 mm mauser... in unlicenced holders? pistols, saw off shotguns, full auto cut down rifles..
-
Yes I noticed this too, both with the "snap off" shotgun loader and the speed loader.. technically i should be able to use a couple of speed loaders in pockets to "fast load" the gun im using.. instead of opening invintory and loading it like i would just plain ammo... i gather this is something in development.. for the future.
-
You realize of course, no I want a "Can-Gun" that can launch cans of beans and "sketti" accross the russian landscape? as long as it goes "ruined" when it hits other people, it should be fun to fire it off buildings at others ><
-
How many times have we read "... then a guy dress just like my friend ran up and shot me, i didnt realize he had shot my friend already".. im at about 3 times so far... kind of shows a "friendly" stance towards another player might allow someone to know in what direction their friends are (team numbers perhaps?) .. not everyone can scream loudly on their mic at 4 am in the morning (without waking their housemates) :o

Yeah Ducktape's kind of wasted just wrapping up ammo magazines.. In Australia its called "100 mile an hour tape" after it was used in the Bathurst races to "tape" back car pannels onto race cars.. you knew it could handle up to 100 mile and hour, then come loose again ;) hence the name. I still want to be able to craft a home made ghilli suit .. piles of rags and green, black and kaki spray paint and a sewing kit mixed with hunter pants and a hoddy should do it.. :D
-
I like this idea.. but yeah, you would have to "hide the breath" somehow.. maybe a feature of being "dead"? make people use up their ammo.. have bodies naturally looking like dead players lying around heavy traveled areas at the same time.. >< hahahahah fun.

bayonets, suppressors, cars, and cooking, what first?
Lupine replied to commanderbash's topic in Suggestions
I voted cooking.. bring on the zombie ear soup ! (hydrates and fills u with warm wigglyness...) -
I play Fallen Earth a lot, and you can dress up your female toons (and a lot of actual woman play woman toons) in a variety of suits and dresses and styles.. The game makes a mint selling Keys and clothing items (its F2P, the keys open lock boxes with a chance of finding new clothes). So i think mini skirts need to be in the game...? lol ummm yeah i like a girl in a mini skirt.. but while im looking at that through my scope i might be more likely to get shot from behind >< More dress up items might be cool though, but I wont be dressing up if it doesnt offer protection. Also note that people in the game will dress their male characters in female atire... like wedding dresses (complete with veil) sometimes i think just to mess with others heads.

A very interesting Thread... reminds me of an excellent T.V doco the BBC did years ago called "Humans will Betray you" (its on Youtube somewhere if u want to spend a few hours braining up) it looked at how this very arguement is implemented in modern government (no kidding), and how it effected the world. It also looked at a situation called the prisoners Dilemma (wiki link, have a read) if both of the individuals involved co-operate, the both walk away rewarded, however if both distrusts the other, they loose nothing, but if one decides to rip off the other, and the other one trusts, then the dishonest one actually wins both the loot and the reward.. its very telling. A lot of research was done on it, and it proved that in the short term the "bandit " approach is a winning situation, you gain for the short term is high. but over the long term, co operation/mutual respect method wins. They listed several examples, but the one I am most familiar with is the Reef fish cleaning stations, where large Alpha predator fish wait at certain areas in the troppical reefs, to have their teeth and scales cleaned by lots of little fish. these little fish dart in and out of the mouth of the bigger fish, doing their cleaning job without fear. The big fish could of course gobble up these little fish, but it doesn't. further study found that in reefs that were destroyed (by us) the large fish were very sick and rough looking in bad condition, infested with parasites. I sort of see the same effect going on with this game.. it really is a "test of character" .. do you shoot some noob spawn cause you can? do you give him/her a can of tuna and some pipsi? .. Honestly i do like the constant threat of death.. i creep around bushes and follow tree lines, I am always watching over my shoulder just incase, and after being murderd in the dark a few times, i wont play night servers any more :P .. those damn zombies love to smack your light into "ruined" status if you are not fast enough, that and i had someone creep up on me and kill me as i was eating in the dark... One thing i am enjoying is learning the map. Its really going to be very interesting when its all finished, fully populated with Z's, and some extra buildings and scenes. if i was on a PvE server, i would be wandering the map exploring. If i am on a pvp server, im doing the same, but watching my back and being paranoid (very paranoid)....when it becomes posible to live in the forest without having to rely on the towns, i will be all cammo'd up and doing just that. can't wait.

Yup.. a like from me too ;)

of course the FIRE AXE and Splitting Axe would open a few doors as well... you could also make it that the sound of a breaking door might draw in any Zombies like the "Dinner bell" effect with using firearms.. making you forever watchfull.
