The short: Something like FarCry3. And, before anyone gets all upset about how this would affect development of other more important aspects, I mean just a few different ones, for use on zombies. The long: So as we can all tell the developers are planning on adding some foley sequences. For example when you fall, you'll notice you are frozen for a second, this short period of time is a placeholder for getting up, or stumbling most likely. I was hoping that they could also implement a few simple melee sequences too, because trying to melee with the current system is a bit wonky. This would have the positive side effect of the devs not having to work on perfecting the current system too much more, since a sequence is, in my opinion, more obivious and impressive. Take for instance: Fists(no weapon): a simple push down, so you can run away. Axe/shovel: chop off head, or more likely lethal head/neck wound. Knife, bayonet, cleaver etc: grab, stab head region. Others, like crowbar or bat could just be the same smashing animation to the head region. I make this suggestion not to create more work for the devs, but maybe it would reduce some work, seriously. It looks like the engine is limited (http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/151780-melee-reddit-post-from-rocket/), so we may never get nice looking melee hits, this would ensure that what you mean to do to the zombie is done(head damage!). I think most people would be satisfied with this, and some additional tweaking or the current melee system too of course. I don't think these should be implemented in the case of survivor on survivor, except the one case of sneak attack from behind with knife, since you'd be doubling the work creating blocks and such. Keep it simple as possible with greatest effect. In the end, all we want are their heads anyways, am I right?? YES, I am. Also, I hope they can fix the blood streaming effect, and localize it to the actual area of impact.
