Verify through steam > Library>games>right click game in question (ignore beta)> properties>local files tab>there should be a verify cache button at this point - yes you need to relaunch game to get the missing/corrupted files - Also some people find its easier to simply play the game through steam without the launcher/commander, try that if all else fails or you prefer - I tried it out just for the hell of it and it immediately initiated BE so maybe just try that - right click armaII dayz mod in library choose multiplayer at menu should bring up servers, make sure the filter doesnt have any crazy settings i usually set filter ping to 200 Np hope some of this helps ya - -

Dont forget to try verifying the game via steam, might help if your continually getting a BE msg it maybe from a bad installation of the Arma's, you did install and the 2 arma's and open them to menu before doing anything else right? - if your just trying to play vanillia dayz you just need the dayz mod - although i recommend Epoch as it has the most servers i believe and its just fun - the mods and the verify via Launcher/commander can act very weird at times and sit allot so dont worry there -

Try spamming a server till the a cmd window opens and BE usually will be forced to start - depending on what server your trying to join you will need to download the mods for them ( like epoch for instance ) if you installed dayz launcher you will have to download all the mods again - if using dayz commander youll have to also update armaII in the upper lefthand corner as well as any mods applicable to any server your trying to join - also try verifying your armaII oa via the launcher and or steam -

Theres just different gui's most servers have the one you are used to some have the "chalky" one basically the same some minor differences -

the circle reticle usually means you have a melee weapon equipped or thrown item like grenades - I believe its enter to "go" into 3rd person -
He meant a different kind of crappy I'm pretty sure and being good at killing people doesn't mean you aren't a crappy person If you really believe what you say OP then keep up that perspective otherwise you'll become that same person you cursed one day 8P

Are ladders/stairs supposed to be the most dangerous thing in the game?

It is a known old bug, don't go up stairs/ladders unless you are okay with this happening - looking where you are going is helpful and so is vaulting, try them out they may solve this for you -
How ironic - people used to complain there wasn't vehicles yet - now its "I have run everywhere to find one" - clearly there's a pattern here hmmm...

were you on a 1st person or 1st/3rd try logging into official servers (jimbos sausage fest or named servers like that dont tend to be)

The coast tends to get picked clean by hoppers and just random folks playing - go inland, like away from the ocean north or northwest -

Watch videos where people find them? honestly expecting to find a specific item rarely ends well, just play and if you run into something, bonus - I really dont see them upping the numbers just so everyone can experience them - however I have run into many servers where all the lewt is backed up and you have a choice of just about anything ( several times in zeleno ) maybe try going there? -
There's a guide on the forum here that'll walk ya through installing everything and what you need - buy ya armaII and OpArrowhead are what you need to begin the process

Actually sticks/trees/bushes take on every shape you can imagine and many you cant

When binos came out, I would sit overlooking the neaf on high pop servers in a tree/bush - quite entertaining to watch with a cold beer 8D
